I heard this song on a CD my "friend" was playing in the car bringing me home from a "loving" weekend spent together. The words of this song are words I imagine him singing to me. This song inspired Robert John, though his real name was Robert Pedrick. A producer friend suggested he write something similar to the hit song "My Angel Baby" by Toby Beau. He wrote “Sad Eyes" but took a different direction though, becoming a ballad about a man ending a fling to return to his original partner
