Sometimes songs match up with a big transition in life. I was leaving college and moving into the workforce exactly when this was being played on the radio. Stuff like this happens to most of us with certain songs. Looking back, I could take or leave the song, but it remains there forever due my connection with what was going in my life. I heard this song on a CD my "friend" was playing in the car bringing me home from a "loving" weekend spent together. The words of this song are words I imagine him singing to me. Although I want to be his "Angel Baby" always, not for just one night. Anyway, as soon as I got in the house I Googled the song. I will be listening to it often and thanks for posting it.

This song inspired Robert John, though his real name was Robert Pedrick. A producer friend suggested he write something similar to the hit song "My Angel Baby" by Toby Beau. He wrote “Sad Eyes" but took a different direction though, becoming a ballad about a man ending a fling to return to his original partner
