let's not pretend he was traditional country though, he's the one who introduced rap in country with 'i wanna talk about me'.

I'd like to introduce you to a little song called "Sold (Grundy County Auction Incident)" lol but even further back, the very first country-esque song to have rap in it, "Devil Went Down to Georgia" by Charlie Daniels Band haha. Toby was very much country and "Should've Been a Cowboy" proves that. @@TropicalCountryMusic
@TropicalCountryMusic9 ай бұрын
@@greendaleforever no, "sold" features spoken word verses. Spoken words is also what Johnny Cash has done in certain songs. That is surely different than that cheap 90's cartoon kid rap thY keith was promoting on country radio.

Nice try Charles, as an avid sports fan, country music fan, even I grasp why the players kneel in peaceful protest.....
@RangerVickyJohnson2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think Toby Keith was necessarily angry about kneeling during the anthem. When asked about it, he said it broke his heart and that he thought there were better ways to protest. But despite disagreeing with his methods, he also praised Colin Kaepernick, saying “I know you gotta give him credit for getting his cause out there though.”

Before it was released to country radio, this was the song's public debut via the 2002 CMA Awards broadcast. It was only a matter of weeks after 9/11. Incredible song & performance. Yes, the audio is garbled for the first 30 seconds or so, but it matters not. Thanks for the upload. And thank you Toby, for speaking for so many so eloquently.

Toby Keith was the most badass person I knew. He wasn’t a big fan of those award shows but he showed up dressed to really show the world that our Country and military needed to be respected and the industry that we are going to stand up and be patriotic and it was good to see the audience support him. I love and miss you my dear and beautiful friend. See you soon in our Heavenly home❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This performance has always been a favorite of mine, not only because I LOVE Toby Keith but because of the message it sends. My Dad was in the Navy so I know a little about it. The other reason is that it was pissed off the Dixie Chicks, who was fine singing a song about killing a man who was abusive and a few other songs they had that were questionable and because ( Natalie especially ) got so mad she felt a FUTK was acceptable to wear on an awards show, got such a bad reaction that it pretty much ruined their career. Just shows his words were true.

I understand your thought for Toby’s final resting place given his non wavering patriotism for this country, but remember, home was everything to Toby, Oklahoma was his home. That’s why regardless of his celebrity status, he always stayed true to his roots. I believe he is at peace resting in his own home place closest to his family.

If only our people would have the attitude of Dec. 8th 1942 and Sept 12th 2001, we'd be in good shape. I think also, this is coming from someone that has no desire to serve in the miltary for our current leaders or previous presidents Rep/Dem, that we should all be required to serve a couple years in the reserves to build character and give an appreciation for living in this country. Too many people sitting on the sidelines not working, paying taxes, just existing to benefit but not to produce. We'd have a different country, probably similar to that generation of th e30s and 40s America. That generation also gave us the baby boomers which gave us a lot of junk like drugs, free love, the entitlement generation.
@tobiasdubose88122 жыл бұрын
This song and this performance at ACM 37 in 2002 is what led to the feud between Toby Keith and the Dixie Chicks. Natalie Maines said that "anyone can right a song like Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue". Toby Keith then said that it was disrespectful of Maines to say that because "he's a songwriter and she's not". After the London concert in 2003 where they got cancelled for exposing the BS truth about Iraq, Toby Keith performed at an anti-Dixie Chicks rally with a photoshopped picture of Maines with Saddam Hussein in the background. At ACM 38 in 2003, one year after the debut of Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue and two months after the London Concert, Natalie Maines (at a concert in Seattle going on at the same time as the ACM Awards) wore a t-shirt that read F.U.T.K.. This country music feud ruined one ban's career and (years and decades later) made country music look ignorant and stupid.
