No he didn’t cancer took Toby from his family and what he loved doing. Cancer took my momma, she didn’t drink alcohol but she was diagnosed with liver cancer and she passed away from it in 2005 and a stroke took my daddy. When people say “ people beat cancer” but they passed away from it no they didn’t the only people that beat cancer are the ones that go into remission from cancer and are still here to tell the story. Cancer beat Toby even tough he gave it a hell of fight at the end of the day Toby’s cancer won, he’s no longer in pain he’s at peace now. But yeah please understand the meaning of what you say.

This was emotional to watch… I just lost my grandpa Oct 18th to cancer. He was diagnosed in Aug and died in October. Hearing Toby talk about being at peace and not being scared, hits hard bc my grandpa was until the last 2 days 😭😭 he was only scared to die alone.. he passed with my grandma by his side, she fell asleep for the first time in 48 hrs for 15 minutes and he passed in that time.. it was my grandpa and grandma how raised me on country, I was in love with Toby as a child and loved his music even more as an adult when I actually under what the songs were about! Rip big cowboy!!

I just miss him so much. How relatable he was to everyone, he was just one of us. A true poster person for a proud American. I grew up alongside his music and I felt like I knew him. He feels like part of my family, like my dad or something. His voice and music just washes over me like I’m being wrapped in a warm embrace. This is totally unfair. I feel so much empathy for his family. May God be with them during this time. He’s got some more important work to do in Heaven with the Almighty. This week has been so rough. Miss you big man!💔

I've listened to "metal" music all my life! Music such as Megadeth, Exodus, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Pantera, etc..... I met a woman who later became my wife. She's the one who introduced me to country music with Toby's "Should Have Been A Cowboy" and "Who's That Man". Hearing those songs changed my life. I now own hundreds of hours of Toby's music and have seen him perform atleast 40 times. I remember one particular concert me and my wife watching him perform in (I think) Nevada or Phoenix.......we were standing in the front row singing his songs word-for-word. In between a couple songs he stopped the show to take a moment & say, "Ladies & gentleman it looks like we have a guy down here in the front row. He may be a lost sheep. He's wearing a Metallica shirt, leather jacket and ripped jeans. He's definitely a rocker. I think he may have taken a wrong turn and ended up here with us tonight. But he's singing every one of my songs word-for-word so he must be a fan. His companion girl is wearing army greens"........Toby then said, "We weren't planning on playing this song, but let's play it for them anyways. Let's play American Soldier".......he and his band then launched into playing "American Soldier". I'll never forget that night! Less than a week later me and my wife attended another Toby show where we bought Meet & Greet tickets.....he totally remembered us! We ended up getting drunk with him trying to keep up drinking shots of whiskey with him. BEST hang over of my life! I can't believe he's passed on. It's like a part of me is missing.

He told a friend of his that he quit chemo in and was trying new treatments. He said the chemo did more harm to him than the cancer and he hoped that he didn't quit too late. That's so hard to hear. He said in this interview that he was doing well. I guess when he quit chemo he went downhill. Idk. In June he said his tumor had shrunk by 1/3 and his bloodwork looked good. I don't why he quit chemo, but he was trying new treatments in Florida. He wanted to keep trying to live. It's so sad that he didn't. It's not fair. He seemed so positive and hopefully for the future. This is heartbreaking. It's always the good ones. He said his faith kept him going, but God wasn't helping him. God took him. I guess God had bigger plans for him. RIP Toby. Play your songs in heaven with Jimmy, Kenny, MJ, Prince, Tina and all the others. I hope he got to see his friend Wayman again. Watch over us in heaven Toby. You're not in pain anymore. RIP.

It would be my guess of risk vs reward. The chemo might have been doing something to the cancer, but it might have been putting a bigger toll on him. And I doubt by this point the cancer treatments were doing well. He looks like a stiff breeze would knock him over. Perhaps that round of chemo was done and they were going to move to anther form of treatment but his body might not been able to handle it. In 99% of cases, when someone ends normal cancer treatment and pursues alternative treatments, it means they have exhausted all possible medical options. They are seeking at least a sliver of hope that some other unproven treatments will work (see Andy Kaufman, Steve McQueen, and Farrah Fawcett for examples).

🇺🇲💔😭 I have been bawling since Tuesday morning when I heard the news. I just don't understand why he had to leave us. He just did 3 days performing and seemed as though he was coming back. But he is not coming back and it's not fair! He started his foundation for children with cancer and all expenses paid but he was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago and now he is gone. I pray for his family and I am heartbroken because I lost my favorite artist, I have the same personality Toby had. I will NEVER stop loving him and NO artist will ever compare to Toby Keith! I am not only in disbelief and shock... I AM PISSED!!! I lost my Daddy 2 years ago and I loved Charles Stanley and he died. They were in their late 80's but Toby was only 62! Not fucking right! He should have been cured and still here! RIP I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!

You were the epitome of country music Toby! I live in Murphys California. You have performed here at Ironstone Winery three times since I have lived here. My favorite song “Does that blue moon ever shine on you?” I have never heard it done better than you did it in Murphys! Thank you Toby!

It’s really saddening. I learned about his condition only days before hearing of his passing. Such an incredible artist, I loved many of his songs. He was an artist in a time when music was actually music. I’m glad he is no longer suffering. Thoughts, prayers & condolences to the family. May he rest in peace.
