This would be laughable if it were not so serious an issue. Would it not be possible or appropriate for the home secretary to simply order the police to stop this practice.

Couldn't agree more, this whole non crime stuff is absolutely disgusting, wrong and illegal. The police force can only do it's job if they are neutral, and this crap is most certainly not neutral. The police needs much stronger leadership and the courts need to take a stronger stand against this.
@rolanddeschain9653 жыл бұрын
Politicians tell the police what to do and not to do, police are just useful idiots who as this gentleman stated, have abandoned actual thinking in favor of taking sides. And it's far easier to harass people about words then to capture armed , ahem, " citizens".
@john-gealy47653 жыл бұрын
It is about time constables started conducting themselves in accordance with their oath of office and having at least a basic grasp of law. Police are not employees of the executive they are an independent office whose job is to keep the queens peace whichnis a contract between her and us and apprehend criminals... no need to overcomplicate this.

The Police have been a weapon of the state ever since I was a lad. I think it's rather sweet and a little naïve that you can even think that they're anything else but a law onto themselves who're beyond criticism or punishment.

The court of appeal rule the College of Policing guidance was unlawful. Humberside Police claimed to be following the guidance. So when can we expect the people who wrote the guidance to be prosecuted for this??? Why is it that these people never get held responsible? It is definitively in the public interest to prosecute and the evidence demonstrates their guilt already. If Police have the time to pursue none crime incidents they definitely have time to pursue the RCoP

As much as I agree with the police stopping their "thought crime" surveillance, I do see a need for preventative crime measures. If someone was saying things that lead up to a bombing, we'd be condemning the police for not intervening sooner. If someone uttered threats or sent pictures of blood dripping knives (eg: to JK Rowling) then they should be spoken to so that the threat is minimized or stopped. What I don't like is how the commentators are put on a "naughty" list when they've done nothing wrong be REASONABLE standards which may affect future employment.
