Let’s Make a Freddle Animatronic from Five Nights at Freddy’s (Out of an LOL Elmo)

Oh man, how are we already halfway through April? I’ve had some life stuff going on that’s pulled me from my animatronics, but things look like they’re settling down now! I really enjoyed working on the Freddle and I wish I could have gotten this video out sooner.
Our next project is Withered Bonnie, and he’s also going to be made from an Elmo! What I have planned for him is maybe slightly ambitious considering his small size, but I’m sure I’ll have fun trying.

Hey, just a bit of crafting advice for easier tiny rivets: rhine stones work super well for tiny rivets, studson studio uses them for his models and they look really nice, but of course, as with all crafting advice, use what works best for you

9:30 Sorry for this comment, I'm not trying to be annoying so only read if you want nerd input. I make 'metal' cosplay pieces a lot, and I'm a bit of a perfectionist. As far as areas where rust will appear: People put oil on joints to _prevent_ rust. Rust forms on areas not oiled, because they are exposed to weathering. Joints wear on the oil after a long time since they're moving parts. Grease will form there, which is more of a grimey super-dark brown/black color. If this is not cleaned and re-oiled, then rust would start to appear along with the grease continuing to accumulate. So usually for joints I try to go for more of a greasy, grimey look, and then for areas that would not have been oiled so much or would have been exposed more to moisture I do a speckled array of rust paint. Again, sorry. I also do light mechanic work and I'm married to WD-40 (which forced me to write this out). Anyway, awesome project, it will definitely haunt some kid's dreams in the best way possible!

Oh I LOVE Lumins! I’ve ordered from them a few times, for foam and foam clay! I just have a million billion Eva foam floor mat scraps on my shelf that I prefer to use if it’s not really going to show so I can save my Lumins foam for the good stuff. A couple things that might help you! If you add a drop of dish soap to your black wash it can help it flow better. And tiny rhinestones that you would use for nails make FANTASTIC rivets once painted. Also I love the dynamic between the big scary looking Freddle and the tiny pompompurin pen. That is definitely my aesthetic.

Those needle things you added into the hands (I forgot the name of them) would be good to add around the edge of withered Bonnie’s head where his face got torn off, I also think making just a nightmare fredbear head would put good use into adding a squeaker in his nose, since I think making the entire body would take slot of work and you also see nightmare fredbear headless just on the bed in game

Glad to see you still giving old toys a new life. to be honest this is kind of fitting for Elmo I am one of the people who found Elmo rather Disturbing. I recently resumed my concept work for a Companion Robot. Trying to redefine and make it better currently I am working on a Dragon. and have been working on Concept Dragon species because robot dragons hardly exist. currently have a Concept Design for a base and a 4 concepts for dragon species with a 5th in the works. starting with month old or hatchling Dragonets(yes I encountered Wings Of Fire it being the influence behind the second wind in designing robots). than working on I am now working under the idea that this robot will not be a toy. though it would be a fun robot its designed to be as real as possible and treated like a pet or friend. the Idea is that the robot itself will look and act more like a real animal than a robot. taking the extra time to animate small things like the tongue, ears, and lips even adding mist generators in the nostrils and throat a water gun for fun and simulated breathing. with a heavy step into soft robotics to give it a more organic movement. and Wireless Chargers making the charger look like a bed this way the charger does not take away from the realism. going as far as to create Alternate-History back stories for each species of dragon. "The Dragons of Terra." to make them more real. going as far as to use Perlin Noise Soft where the stuff that makes Minecraft worlds look unique to make the skins for the dragons look unique. so no 2 dragons will be exactly the same. the dragons would also come in eggs as there packaging. and would hatch when the egg is tapped. though instore when dragons are returned but still in working condition instore instead be placed in a room where they can free roam this would allow people to see and interact with them and of course provide a cheaper option. granted I know they would be expensive however I want it to be well worth the cost. and makes one feel like they have a real dragon. Each dragon would have its own personality depending on the species and dragon but can adapt to the owner so the don't scare or upset them. they can be as friendly or as aggressive without causing real harm as the owner wants. they would be preprogramed with the ability to recognize emotions like Anger, Fear, Joy and Sadness and would react to them accordingly. to calm there owners down if they are sad or scared, and know everything is okay when there happy and to keep a distance when someone is angry so it does not fall victim to blind rage. the dragons would even learn to speak to a degree repeating words the owner says eventually with later generation the would have the ability to speak and hold conversations when AI is good enough to hold a conversation and stay in character. as well as Vocal Generation sounds more like a human than a AI. Though it will be hard to emphasize at least at first that these robots are friends not toys. and should at the least be treated like one would treat a pet. even though they are fun and can be played with like a toy. they are companions not toys. because unlike toys where you do a action the toy reacts to it the dragon would actually try to get your attention rather that be to play or get pets. unlike a toy with the Dragons interaction would be a 2 way street. its not a robot meant to be played with for an hour and forgotten.

24:44 Have you tried taking the squeakers out of dog toys? It usually depends on how big the toy is, but some of them have pretty small squeakers in them.

I haven’t, but I just can’t imagine that they’d be small enough. The squeaker needs to be a fair bit smaller than the top part of my pinkie finger, everything I’ve seen online is way too big

If I remember correctly, holding a strong magnet close to the voice box will make it only emit a screeching noise. Though this may not work with “newer” toys
