I've been attempting to learn this entire song. I've made it through Toccata, and I'm currently up to the first "tongue twister" part that i'm trying to overcome, in your arrangement, it's at 3:27. I had an interesting reflection that pipe organ is actually bizarrely fitting for a vampire's instrument. The notes on a piano die, you can play a note as violently as you like, but it fades in a beautiful way. The pipe organ doesn't, it sustains so long as you hold the note, and all you can do is stand in awe at the scale and power of the thing. It has its roots in religion, but I think the meaning a pipe organ can convey has evolved far more complexity than that. It's one of those things that is unspeakably beautiful. Ty for the arrangement!! It's very lovely!

@@peterpham6288 ahaha it's so beautiful!! i think it's bach's use of polyphony that trips up my brain so much trying to play it, but it's so good! the more i look into his music the more intimate it feels. i could probably spend my whole life and not fully understand what he seemed to grasp intuitively

Such a piece... I learned the Toccata 6 years ago but stopped playing it (I was too little to actually play it, I could do it only one hand at a time). Took out the 30 years old sheet my father used to learn this piece from and started learning it again. I got to the fugue, it is difficult, but man IF IT IS WORTH IT... the fugue is pure math harmony. Way ahead of his time, Bach was.

This sheet played in the video is noy playable however, there are several occasions where the right hand is supposed to play 6 notes at the same time; this is possible with an organ due to the pedals and other system, but not on a piano.

Every time I see this piece I'm more convinced that it was written primarily by Bach. People say that it's not contrapuntally complex, but look at Bach's violin partitas and sonatas, and you'll see a lot of really similar, "Pseudo counterpoint," designed to sound contrapuntal within the limits of the violin. Some people say this started out as a violin piece, which makes sense to me. It's probably a piece that was built up over time by multiple composers (for instance this arrangement is by Busoni) for multiple instruments with Bach making the largest contribution.

Just 1 problem. If you listen to somebody playing this piece, in those phrasing repeats you hear Loud, soft, Loud, soft. Also, other than ritardando, I notice no tempo changes here. The tocatta allegro here is the same as the fugue adagio and that is just not right. The piece even has presto and that isn't here either.
