Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Gospel:
Then, when it was late on the same day, on the first of the Sabbaths, and the doors were closed where the disciples were gathered, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and he said to them: "Peace be with you." And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and side. And the disciples were gladdened when they saw the Lord. Therefore, he said to them again: "Peace be with you." As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them. And he said to them: “Receive the Holy Spirit. Those whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them, and those whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.”

Reflection: How does opening yourself to forgiveness pave the way for experiencing the fullness of God's grace and spiritual gifts in your life?
Prayer: My glorious Lord, You promised to send the Holy Spirit upon us to lead us into all Truth and to reconcile us to the Father. You were faithful to that promise at Pentecost and now continuously bestow the Holy Spirit upon all who believe. Holy Spirit, please come upon me, especially by forgiving my sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and by filling me with Your sevenfold Gifts. Jesus, I trust in You.

AMEN AMEN AMEN! Thank you for such a beautiful insight into the meaning and desires our faith requires of us. I feel all the elements of which you spoke of in my faith. It is the understanding of them that I have been left to interpret in my journey. Your insight opened up the why I feel the way I do about my spiritual experience. It's as if Jesus was speaking directly to me by your discourse! I love having the presence of the Holy Spirit in my heart. He is the guide in my journey to eternal life as well as the voice of direction to my actions in life. The peace He brings to my life through His relationship with my spirit, is as Jesus says in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." This is the peace that, "Surpasses all human understanding." It is a peace of confidence that no matter the situation, Jesus will be there to assist us in "carrying our burden." One does not have to look very far to understand why we need to have the presence of the Holy Trinity in our life. It gives confidence to us that we are not alone no matter what transpires in the secular world. It is the comforter that keeps us from being overwhelmed by anxiety to the issues transpiring in the world around us. It is an assurance that God is always aware of those events and should they get out of hand, it will be He who will bring reconciliation about and not we. Most importantly though, we must never let the secular world invade our faith and draw us awry from our faith journey. The influences can be great, but our faith must be greater. Seek to pray without ceasing that that Holy Spirit will see us through those events and always remember, "Jesus is the light, the way, and the life", we follow.
