You are incredibly inspirational. I was 16. Surfing with 2 school friendsGreat White took out guy snorkelling next to me. Disemboweled him. Tossed him into air. Wife watching from beach. I’m soooo thankful my Dad made me go back into sea next day. It was Easter. I studied shark attacks to get over the trauma. Gave talks to school kids afterwards. We were surfing in perfect place for shark attack. Years later 15yr old boy lost his leg to great white. He is paralympic surfer and my hero

I just came over from watching code blue arresting an entitled young 20 something who was so vile to first responders and police for a second time. I went through what she did at 8 years old and i spent nearly three months in the hospital My left leg was badly mangled and it was questionable if it could be saved It took two operations for the surgeon to save it I had a long road to recovery so i feel for her and im very proud of her for being so positive happy and working towards her goals! You are an inspiration to all. Way to face your challenges and not hide from them. As a young man, I got stabbed in the abdominal area. The first thing I did when I got released from the hospital was to ask my mom for the shirt I was wearing when I got stabbed because I wanted to wear it again. I didn’t want to hide from it and have emotional scars. Your Halloween dress with your friend as a shark reminds me of that. Wish you a full recovery and much success. Watched a documentary about the shark attacks off the coast of Egypt and there having been tourist diving tours hand feeding sharks as part of the experience. So it’s not a leap to imagine sharks associating human limbs with food after that. People can be really stupid sometimes, and others end up paying the price.

She’s a beautiful, courageous girl! On a holiday in Thailand, I once swam offshore to snorkel at drop-off about 500 m from the beach. The water depth on the reef was maybe 3 or 4 meters and then dropped off into the indigo-black depths. I remember thinking illogically that I’m safe from sharks as long as I don’t snorkel off the reef at the drop-off. As soon as I had that thought, two reef sharks of 2-3m in length appeared from the drop-off zone and started circling me in an agitated manner. I swam down to them repeatedly to keep them in sight. The sharks came in closer and closer as the circle tightened and I reminded myself that reef sharks don’t attack people. Despite that I experienced rising fear until I eventually panicked and swam as hard as I could for the distant beach. It would appear that reef sharks are not as harmless as I thought (hoped) at that time.

This was a most inspirational story - for one big reason - and that being - to never swim in the ocean where sharks live. If they live there, why would one risk their life by swimming there. Or scuba diving there. Or being right IN the body of water where they actually LIVE..!!!! This could have been 100% avoided if she simply went into a ... '' swimming pool '' ..!!!
