This woman is opening up ON NATIONAL TELEVISION about her trauma, abuse, past & every hard moment she’s had...including public humiliation & feeling like a terrible mother. Could you imagine how hard this is for her?? I’m sure she’s on medication for her anxiety & other mental illness she’d been running from..maybe the trauma. She probably sees a therapist & takes medication just like millions of other humans do. She’s also had facial surgery, injections and Botox, and could have lasting damage from her drug/alcohol use...leave her alone and let her speak her truth.

Noting that she appears to be on medication or not clean is not 'being cruel'. It is making critical observations and saying them out loud. If someone doesn't say anything then she is going to walk away thinking that her presence and the way she showed up is normal. It's not. I believe she’s sober. I’ve been sober for three years now and was accused constantly of being high bc of health problems and the way I speak (which is drawn out, southern, and a bit languid) and let me tell you that’s something that can drive someone straight into a relapse, addicts are usually sensitive and if she’s doing okay then she’s fine and its nobodies business. Being “sober” isn’t the same for everyone. I shot heroin for 6 years off and on and m now on suboxone, and my anxiety meds bc I couldn’t even go out in public without something to treat my anxiety. It may be bc my brain is irreversibly “damaged” from my use but also I had anxiety since I was a teenager. Idk but I’m a functioning member of society and Im not sticking a needle in my arm anymore. I don’t abuse my medication and my dr has proof of that. I’ve been called “high” so many times when someone got mad at me tho 🙄🙄😩 and it was especially repugnant from another addict.

From a medical perspective... this can be the result of long term drug and alcohol use. Similar to Ozzy Osbourne. He slurs as well but obviously, she's not as bad nor was she doing hard drugs like that. It seems like these are the side effects of 20yrs of abuse.

Javi Ruiz some do. Wellbutrin is one. It acts as a stimulater, which can cause your mind to think faster than your able to speak. Which can then make you sound like this. Not saying she’s on this med, but just an example of what antidepressant can cause you to sound off.

That's a good way to put it. I was helping a friend get off drugs by checking on her at her place in detox a couple weeks ago, when I got to her house she had taken a bunch on benzos to basically cut the edge off I guess.. she spoke exactly how Jessica did in this interview& it was so scary.

I’ve been following her for 20 years now. Huge fan and her finally being honest about the demons that had haunted her all these years is a way of her letting go. She always seemed happy but seeing she struggled like all of us makes makes me realize when I’m struggling I’m not alone. I don’t drink or anything but I bottle up a lot of things. Her book was amazing and so glad she’s showing the world her truth. Now, she needs to channel that into more music.

My step brother is an addict. He has recovered for over 3 years now. When he first went into recovery he was on a heavy medication for his depression. He sounded just like her. He was a heavy drinker and meth abuser. She probably is on a high level of medication prescribed by a doctor. It happens and is completely normal. Over time she will probably slowly lighten the med and will not sound so stoned.

I adore her and wish her well but I noticed too. No disrespect to stroke victims but her slowed down speech reminds me of someone who’s had speech therapy after a stroke. Its almost like I can see her reciting her words in her head before she says them. I know long term use of excessive alcohol does a real number on the brain and cognitive issues so maybe her drinking was way worse and it’s taking her much longer to heal. In any event it’s none of my bee’s wax so I am glad she’s doing well. I bet her book is a #1 best seller, I think I’m gonna get it.
