Young children tend to drown very quickly and quietly. They slip into the water and just go under. It's a misconception that there's a lot of splashing and calling for help. Also, young children who are used to wearing safety vests when supervised don't understand that it's different when they're not wearing one. They expect to just get into the water and float. I recommend parents get their babies into swimming lessons so that if they ever do fall into a pool they know how to turn themselves over and float on their backs. This skill has saved many lives.

Or parents can just start paying more attention to their kids when their children are around large bodies of water!! 😦😦 The only thing that I have really heard so far is parents just constantly dodging any blame or responsibility, what-so-ever, for their children having bad accidents or drowning in large bodies of water!! 😦😦 Parents, take some freaking responsibility for your kids, and just start paying more attention to your children when they are around large bodies of water, and then these bad accidents and drownings won't happen in the first place!! 😠😠 Okay?? 😦😦 Thanks!! 😠😠

Our 6yr old granddaughter drowned on 7/19 and weren't there. She went canoeing with an adult cousin and his girlfriend. She made it through the canoeing but it was when she went back to the dock to pick up her shoes that she fell in the deep dark water and drowned. The girlfriend did not watch her or help her retrieve the shoes. No one knew that she feel in the water. It took scuba divers over 2 hours to find her. We are heartbroken. She would have celebrated her 7th birthday today.

I cant imagine the loss of these two women and I don’t want to judge. Kids are so quick and it only takes a second. When your children are that young you have to know where they are every single second. There were supposedly 12 adults in the house so how did this little boy get away from everyone. It doesn’t make sense. You have to watch your children closely especially when you have a pool or if you go somewhere where there is a pool. At 19 months, Emmy shouldn’t have been left for a second.

There is a huge responsibility with having a pool and talking to your children ..teach them life vests safety, dangers of drowning, locks on the gate ... and always know where they are ( more importantly). I think if they were watching their children this would not have happened. Too many parents are comfortable with their kids wandering around and get caught up into their own conversations... Mom's have a lot to balance!

My son was 3 years old when we were done at the pool, I had taken his puddle jumper off and had him snuggled in a towel after drying him off, he was sitting on a chair while I packed everything up. My cousin called and I answered the phone. I thought I heard mom! I turned around and saw my then 9 year old had jumped in the pool and I immediately looked at the chair and it was empty. I threw the phone and jumped in the water. I then saw my three year old come up and gasp for air before going deep in the water. I got him and took him out of the pool, thank God he was breathing. He then said mommy I couldn't swim anymore...I was going down 💔 I'm very lucky to have my son today, he is now 6 and a good swimmer. But I know just how fast it can happen. The weird part is, my 9 year old had no idea that his little brother had jumped in after him and that they said they never called for me, it must've been another child calling for his mother at just the right time for me to hear it. The life guards on duty never saw him jump in either, they were all by a picnic table mid pool.

And it was soo deep they didn't bother to call or let us know what had happened we only found out once he got back on a Friday this happened on a Wednesday I had a dream about this and now the flashbacks are terrible I can't eat sleep or nothing I'm just glad he is safe 💔

You think you’re paranoid about water safety? I remember almost drowning when I was 4. It’s one of the earliest memories from my childhood that I still remember. My cousin, who was 13 at the time, had the presence of mind to notice and pull me up, even though she was playing with her friend at the time. One of the first things I did with my son was take him to swim lessons that teach babies how to not fear water and keep themselves afloat. Even then, whenever we were at a home with a pool, I was constantly watching the pool to make sure even other kids were not in it. Usually hotel and apartment pools are fenced off. Home pools are the worst. I’m like, how you can stay sane living in a house with an open pool with kids at it? As the pool owner, I would just be staring at the pool the whole time.

If they run ahead, you run ahead. If you cannot keep up, then hold your child or have them strapped into a stroller. Idc if you're exhausted, eating dinner, having a conversation...you get your kid when they leave your sight.

Malissa Hudson not hating, circumstances were similar in both situations...these were preventable accidents. When you are talking a pool, dishes can wait, conversations can wait, focus on the kids and be sure the pool is securely locked. Both scenarios, both moms said they thought the baby was with cousins. Morgan asked the boys, where’s Emmy ? Both assumed they were with the kids, the kids aren’t the babysitters. The parent is.

Audra Sitarek so if you own a pool you’ll never do dishes or clean up after dinner again. Got it. Nicole blames herself enough. She doesn’t need others hate. It only takes a second never blame yourself but get swimming lessons as soon as possible. We went to Turkey I took a step in at a time although I know a bit of swimming I slipped in and struggled my daughter next to 9 years old started to struggle as she went in with me her dad pulled me out but he didn't even see her I managed to grab her with me. I then only realised when she was coughing badly that it takes 3 seconds only seconds for something to happen when in water.

Teach your infants to swim. It's easy and natural for the baby.My kids loved swimming as infants. You can drown proof your baby.

my sister fell in the pool when she was about 3 and thankfully was pulled out quick enough. for this reason I dont want to have a pool.. I also would probably put my kids in swimming lessons at age 2

Greta Andersen a well known swimmer had and still has a program for teaching babies to swim. I was member of her swim team in the early 60s in Los Alamitos where she had a swim school. I believe she is still active.

This is why your children need to be afraid of you... the fear needs to overpower the love to save their own lives... I obeyed my parents to a T if they said no no meant no if mom said stay out you stay put one time I ran across the parking lot in target and my dad whooped me so good he said “WE WOULDVE BEEN VERY SAD IF YOU HAD GOTTEN HURT” I do not hate my parents for doing this I actually thank them please discipline your children to save their own lives... hate to sound like the devil but this is why in my state it’s a LAW to have pool gates for kids under 5 why did they not have doors locked and shut if they knew their was no gate? A little common sense goes a long way and before someone says “you aren’t a mom” I’ve been a nanny before you literally need to be watching them at all times you cannot pee alone! This is reality of having kids

Ok so you’re saying just because someone isn’t crying just means their babies didn’t drown? They are trying to stay strong for their babies and/or are dealing with their grief in their own way.

To go the Tennessean.com and scroll to the July 3rd picture of Nicole Hughes holding Levi's Legacy card. This does not look like a grieving mother. Her son is no even one month last and she is selling cards?? Smiling into a camera? This woman is a fake.

I wish everyone that spoke evil on here about these ladies tragic accidental drowning of the children doesn't have to experience what these ladies and loved ones have to face each and every day of their lives. It is children young babies that died and people are blaming them for their death. They don't have to answer to anyone they know what happen that's their story we were not there we know two babies died by an accidental drowning. I'm so hurt by this cause my grandbaby also just drown in a pond in her complex and my grandbaby had autism it really takes a second for a child to get away from that parent. Don't say that parent is a bad parent cause this could happen to anyone this is real but the sad thing about these situations is my daughter got charge for my grandbaby death or trying to do it but my god is awesome. Justice will be served for my daughter cause at the end of the day my daughter lost her child you think of how those parents feel. Stop reading all the fake news and listen to the facts. Remeber this is their story we were not there to judge anyone....Let God do that people.

It seems like the social butterflys were too busy socializing to watch their children. If there is water/pool you don't take your eyes off that child, period. I guess when you have money it makes you lazy.

My kids are 8&5 and in Canada most people have kids in swim lessons. In the city where I live in BC, Canada their are strict regulations on most things and even building a pool requires a permit and inspection from city hall, also a fence is required.
@amystigers7286 жыл бұрын
Cheryl Smith, I think your comment is small and petty. Do you honestly believe that either one of these mothers would actually risk their child’s life to have “me time”? Your comment was rude, unfeeling, unthinking, and unbecoming of a human. If you don’t have any compassion for these women, at least have compassion for their lost children.
