It is self working card trick. When you split cards and put on top of each other, each half was 4 cards away from its other half. Now when you do cut shuffle, you just rotate cards without changing sequence. This fact is exploited to reach to other half after hiding first half. I'm much more impressed with slight of hands. Shin is master at that.

When you split cards and put on top of each other, each half was 4 cards away from other half. (Any shuffling before was irrelevant). Now when you cut shuffle, it just rotates the card from top to bottom without changing sequence. So still each half is 4 cards away from other half. Once you hide the card, you know other half is 4th from top. Now just need to give fake choice to audiance to reach to that card (if audiance select card you ask them to discard that or keep it, audiance feels they selected card, but magician decides if to keep or discard) I'm more impressed with slight of hand of Shin. He's master magician at that.😊

you can do this trick on your own by following these steps: - let everyone have n cards - tear them in half, place one pile on top of the other - let people pick a number in 1 to n+1 - if people say anything but n-1, let them cut that number of cards (move from top to bottom), go back to previous step - if people say n-1, let them movethat number of cards from top to the middle - let people put the top card in their pocket - use any excuse you can think of to let people discard all cards, except the bottom one - that one should match perfectly with the one in their pocket believe me or not, it's just math.
