Aysenur Ozkan is mentally harder than physically. I started fasting 20 hours and a 4 hours window to eat. So I ate at 12:00 noon and again at 4:00 pm. Then when I was fully adapted to that I wasn’t really hungry anymore after 4 weeks. Just make sure you take early in the morning a cup of water with a little bit of salt and take a potassium and magnesium supplement to stay hydrated. This mineral will avoid the withdrawals from the lack of simple carbohydrates and sugar. After a couple of weeks you don’t really need it anymore just make sure you’re getting this minerals in your food. As of right now my daily calorie intake is 1,890 but I can hardly make it to 1,100. But I first eat 4 cups salad 🥗 and then about 7 onz any meat and any veggies and an avocado. I’m 304lbs now I was 327. Try to search for Dr Berg channel in KZbin. He explains everything really well. Good luck 👍🏼 it’s totally doable.

I get really irritated when I hear so called "experts" like the nutritionist say you lose weight on intermittent fasting because you eat less. Sometimes that's true, however the science behind the weight loss is because your insulin goes down. My husband and I have been intermittent fasting for 6 months now. My husband, who has tracked his calories like an OCD person for 10 years) eats the same number of calories he has for 10 years, but he's LOST SEVERAL pounds by eating in an 8 hour window. I've actually started eating MORE calories, but in a 2-4 hour window and I've lost 41 pounds. She needs to educate herself. She's exposing how little she understands. There are a whole host of awesome benefits from intermittent fasting, including healing yourself from insulin resistance, regulating your hormones, increasing human growth hormone so you can build muscle, and reducing your risk of cancer, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's.

The real point of intermittent fasting is to improve your insulin sensitivity. Exercise also does this which is why normally higher carb meals are better following a workout because your insulin sensitivity is increased, along with helping replenish your depleted glycogen stores. When your insulin sensitivity is increased your body can actually make use of the additional carbs you are taking in to burn more fat and build more muscle, instead of storing the excess carbs as fat. Normally around 50g of carbs, when your insulin sensitivity is increased with intermittent fasting or working out, also by some forms of supplementation, you can ingest excess of that with less being stored as fat, I generally eat 100g or so of carbs for my first meal after breaking my fast.

The nutritionist was not precise enough, as if she believed her audience already knew the optimal way and healthiest foods to eat. People don't necessarily know that and as an educator you shouldn't assume your audience knows the basics. That's where I'd ding her. I don't ding her on not advising carb restrictions because the two people didn't specify they wanted to go low carb, but rather that they wanted to try intermittent fasting. She told them how to do that. They tried it, lost some poundage even though glasses of wine were occasionally drunk, candy and chips ocassionally eaten and exercise was not mentioned. They ate and drank what they wanted, reduced the amount of hours they ate and still rather painlessly lost weight. Not bad. Well done.

Show me, please, a person who got fat on eating fruit next to a healthier meal plan. Your body uses up that sugar for energy and stores the excess fat inside of you. I mean IF you do not overeat as a lot of people do. You can, of course, blame the amount of sugar on gaining weight, but then maybe you should start with the glass of wine that dietitian mentioned was ok to have. I believe fruits are amazing and help us be healthy and I'd rather overeat that than meat. - This is my personal opinion. What works for me, might not work for people with health issues.

@@mia-qi5zc I am happy for you losing those extras. It is very motivational. I get that. My opinion is after doing my own research and, of course, experience is that you cannot undo 10-20-35 years of unhealthy eating(that can mean a lot of things) with 2 years of a strict or less strict diet. The body memorises the kind of torture we did to it, therefore it takes longer to heal. I stopped any kind of dieting years ago and I lost the weight, that I had on me. I am a short person who eats a lot :)... still. But my body knows it doesn't need to store too much excess because tomorrow it can eat again. And just to clarify because my very 1st comment could have been confusing. I do like the idea of fasting, it can be beneficial to the body. 100 years ago a lot of us would not eat for days. We are more fortunate now. However, I disagreed with the dietitian about eating little fruit but ok to have even a glass of alcoholic beverage. How can a 'doctor' say that? It made me worried about what else they teach in medical school. Some oranges can be the same calories as a drink, but the digestion part doesn't work the same way. It is not as simple as maths. I’ve been doing fasting for over a year and a half I do 16 (gap frame) and eating less calories is already huge! I’ve also additionally left behind red meat and soda, only water and tea, I do a lot of walking at work and really rest on my days off. I used to have red stretch marks behind my legs and lower back and are now fully disappeared as well as the cellulite fully gone . I used to weigh 209 now I’m at 178

People frequently ask “Does it work?”. The answer is that intermittent fasting cannot fail to work. You can achieve - and remain at - BMI 24 (or wherever you want to be), lower your cholesterol, lower your blood pressure, and just feel better all by restricting your eating period to 8 hours in every cycle of 24.

I have been doing Keto combined with IF for 25 days now and I'm down 14lbs . 45 lbs to go now. I'm 24 and I have insulin resistance since I got diagnosed with PCOS almost 2 years ago and gained 60 lbs in just 6 months! I'm not too strict on the IF (sometimes I do Omad, sometimes 20/4, sometimes 18/6, depending on the day, but I try to eat as less frequently as I can ) but I am strict on the Keto! Haven't had fruit or pasta/rice etc in almost a month. I don't crave carbs anymore and I don't feel enslaved by my hunger anymore (I used to binge all the time). I don't calorie count and don't track my macros (I'm a busy law student and can't afford to do that). In short: Thank you doctor Berg and all the IF/Keto team. No matter how much misinformation people are trying to spread regarding IF and KETO (like this video), all our success stories are proving them wrong.

I would have liked to have seen what they were eating in their window? A bag of chips with dip, several bowls of pasta, and Twinkies are loaded with excess fat and empty calories. You could get a tremendous amount of calories in an 8 hour time period. If you look at how animals maintain their weight it’s often through eating a ton of food every 2-3 days. So, if you’re eating in excess every single day, it doesn’t matter the time frame that you fast (just look at the animal kingdom). You will maintain or gain weight because your body will produce fat.

My Husband and I started Intermittent fasting (iFast) for 12 hours - which was really easy to track we stopped eating at 7PM and didn't eat again until 7AM. I did this for 5 months and lost 6 lbs. Then I decided to up my gain and went to 17:7 where I fasted for 17 hours and ate for 7 hours. I basically skipped breakfast and started eating at Noon time. I have now lost 12 lbs. and it has only been 6 1/2 months since I started fasting. I lost 6 lbs. in 1.5 months. I went back to my 12 hour fast and have maintained. I am starting to do the 17:7 again. I believe this will not only help you lose weight, feel great, be healthier, but with the different hours of fasting it is a life style change in my pattern in eating that is sustainable.

@davidmills70462 жыл бұрын
I made a lifestyle switch by letting my body tell me how much fuel it needed and gradually reducing the food I ate while eliminating fast food and soda. Over a three year period I went from around 219 to about 170 today. I'm now 1 meal a day but my weight has stabilized so much much that I have at least two cheat days a week and I do not have to follow any diet. It really helps to be able to eat whatever you want and makes it feel not like a diet at all. In reality all I do is just eat once a day 5 days a week and 2 days a week I eat breakfast, snack throughout the day, eat small meals whenever I want, fast food even. I've been at about 170 for a year now, I'm never going back to eating three meals a day lol. Oh and I do not work out or exercise at all. I wanted to get to a point where I was stable with no diet or training. No special drinks, no powders or energy drinks. Coffee in the morning, not always keto friendly either, water all day and only water, 1 good meal of anything I want at night. I even have ice cream every day if I want. No diet, no counting, just enough fuel for my body to not lose too much weight. Because my stomach shrank so much I don't binge as much when I do cheat. I have two days a week that I eat all day and anything I want, if I want, but I don't even eat much on those days either. When I do eat on those days I find that I'm not hungry like I am during my 1 meal a day and I don't like that. Being really hungry when you eat makes the meal something you do because you're hungry. Eating all the time you're never really hungry. When you're actually hungry eating healthy foods that would normally be boring make it taste great. So much easier to eat a healthy meal that I've mixed in fish and broccoli as a meal and it doesn't feel like eating healthy at all, it's delicious and satisfying. I also don't feel like I need to eat with my family the other two meals a day. I can make them food and hang out with them while they eat and just talk with them or hang out. At first it felt like something was missing but now it's normal and we just hang out and talk. I think this type of "diet" only works if you make a lifestyle change though. All diets fail, period. Doing this for a few weeks will be undone going back to eating all the time. Fixating on what you eat will only cause you to obsess over it. Reduce the food you eat and your body and the scales will tell you how much you can eat. That's my two cents anyway. Good luck to all you food addicts out there, you'll kick this idea that you need to eat all the time.
@davidmills70462 жыл бұрын
@LoveBomb I admire the 36 hour fast, I couldn't do it, but your body really kicks into burning all that leftover fat at that point. Re-defining your relationship with food, as you put it, is the key imo. Once you stop viewing food as something you do out of habit or boredom you really start to see how little you actually need. I started with one simple objective, I wanted to look good naked as easily as I could. You saying you're amazing sounds like you hit the objective you were going after. Good for you. Hope the best for you.

How long did it take you to lose 70lbs? And did you exercise? If you did, what did you do for exercise? Also what did you really eat? I’m trying to get it right so I can get fitter 😅

30 days is no where near enough time. It takes about 90 days before your body totally adjusts and you start to really reap the major benefits - more energy, increased ability to focus etc. Once I switched from 16:8 to 20:4 that is when I noticed a massive increase in energy, but it took me about 6 months to adjust to 20 hour fasting. Drinking only water during the fast gives the best results - nothing else.

If you want to try IF forget what they say in this video and go watch videos with Dr. Fung. He is one of the leading researchers in the field and can explain it in ways thats easy to understand. Also, you dont just cut back on everything, you need to get certain amounts of carbs, fat and protein depending on what your goal is.

I started intermit fasting about 2 weeks ago, I lost 6 lbs so far. I probably would’ve lasted more but I went out of town and my family kept treating me out to eat. But I actively try to eat better and less and rely on water , but if I have a bigger meal I try to eat it before 5 so I can start my fast an hour or two early

The Bible indicates that Jesus did not die on a cross but rather on a simple stake. Moreover, the Bible strongly warns Christians to “flee from idolatry,” which would mean not using the cross in worship.-1 Corinthians 10:14; 1 John 5:21. Significantly, Jesus said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.” (John 13:34, 35) Jesus thereby indicated that self-sacrificing love-not the cross or any other image-would identify his true followers.

a lifestyle change that will help you trend your weight down over time. Especially if you avoid high carbs and sugars.

Would you please say processed carbs? Whole food carbs are healthy and have sustained many cultures for thousands of years without obesity.

I started IF as a weed smoker suffering the munchies. I could eat a cake in one night! I would wake up feeling terrible and drink water till it passed - for real! In the military IF enabled me to pass urinalysis tests - drinking water all day flushed the metabolites! It further became habit as I learned to eat better. As I learned to eat better I NEVER got the munchies and weed enabled me to control my appetites... I then discovered that IF was the thing to do. Now it's water and medical MJ 16 hours every day followed by a healthy eating period!

The main point of intermittent fasting is that it puts your body to stress at a cellular level, shifting your use from glucose to ketones, which are used for energy in addition to be signalling precursors for your cells to shift to a more "survival mode" - thus the more beneficial effects of intermittent fasting, its not merely cutting out calories

Just after 1:00 you now the expert just DOESN'T KNOW what is IF... Very, very misleading. Sad.

If the nutritionist thinks it only works because you "eat less" because you're eating in a restricted time...she completely missed the point, the science, everything...

Yeah, from what the person who recommended it to me they said that when you eat at only certain times your body can burn the fat stored in you when you’re not eating for a certain amount of time instead of trying to burn the food you ate. I’m not sure if the information is correct, sorry! (And also sorry for the bad English)

I started keto and IF on 3rd Jan 2019. As at 18th Jan, had lost 11lb using the 16:8 eating window (eat 8, fast 16). First three days were a little hard, but after day three I seemed to just settle into it, and now it’s not difficult. I also take potassium and magnesium supplements. I’d recommend doing your research before starting so that you can see how your body reacts and adjust accordingly. I found I wasn’t eating enough fat which would make me tired next morning or would leave me feeling with cravings to eat although I wasn’t hungry, so I found a recipe for cheesecake fat bombs (delicious and creamy) which I sometimes eat as dessert after supper. They took away the cravings, left me feeling satiated and energized next morning. The trick for me in Keto has been having eating fat (which my mind still needs to be convinced of some days!). I have 21 more pounds to go but am feeling confident that it’ll go in no time! Oh did I mention that I’ve been doing Very little exercise, but have been doing more around my house (like gardening, going up and down ladder to change light bulbs if you can call that some exercise 😄) and I’m a 41 year old female, whose struggles to lose more than 5 pounds I the past 2 years! I’m very please with the results of keto + IF this far, but make sure to do your research first

It's nice to see people trying to improve their health by intermittent fasting. However, if they only lost 2 or 3 pounds over 4 weeks, then they're probably not eating the right things. One has to eat mostly whole foods including as much raw fruits and veggies as possible to get the most bang for your buck. This idea that too much raw fruit is bad is just plain false. It's combining the fruit with other less than optimal foods that is bad.

Fruit (except berries) drives up insulin and the idea is to keep insulin low during your eating window.
@theillness765 жыл бұрын
Fruit can make you fat. It is basically natural sugar (Fructose). Alot of it will spike your insulin and can store as fat.
@brendametube3 жыл бұрын
I thought the same. And if you’re eating clean lean protein it will help drive the insulin from the fruit down. For most folks-Just eat healthy and the body takes care of itself.

from what i am reading here, i think ppl need to loosen up their diets a little. there have been studies done that its better to do IF intermittently, instead of every day. ur body should be "surprised" a bit more.. so instead of doing a 16/8 everyday do, 16/8 twice a week, 20/4 once a week, for example.. just mix things up after getting ur body adapted to this way of eating. my biggest issue with IF (i do keto as well) is how difficult it can be to get the calories in, and how difficult it is to get restful sleep.. my brain just seems to always be "on". i wish i knew about this in high school and college, where less sleep would have helped me.

Please please stop saying it's okay to drink coffe or tea during the fast. This is the reason why those two didn't lose more than 4 pounds. When you fast, it has to be zero calory, and only water has 0 calory. Some people say, i did intermitten fasting but i didn't lose much weight. Well thats because you drank 4 cups of coffe during your fast. The same goes for green or black tea, don''t listen to anyone that says ccoffe or tea is okay. its not. Source: Dr. Rhonda Patrick on Joe Rohan podcast
@vigchand88496 жыл бұрын
well let me tell you right now even I listen to Rhonda she knows what she is doing but drinking black coffee during your fast will increase autophagy. Black coffee and green tea has zero calories and I do IF everyday and it does not break your fast by any means.. pl research more on this, i agree these 2 idiots in this video has been completely misguided
