I'm form Ecuador and study law, always heard the story about the "mental sickness" of Pedro López, but I had a penal law teacher that meet the guy, he said that the guy was really social, and talk normally, but the way he look at you was terrifying, and pretty much told us, he didn't believe he was really mentally sick. Besides that, is pretty common to hear that once release Pedro was murdered pretty close to the prisión the day of his release

He was only mentally ill in the way any murderer must be mentally ill. He clearly knew his actions were wrong because he his evidence and felt they were wrong when done to him. He also stated a clear motive and reasoning for his actions.

My understanding of Elizabeth Barthory, she had a friend that she was extremely close with, who was a psychopath, it seems like maybe Elizabeth was framed, due to both her friend and the laws at that time, Iwatched this on another channel, it seems like ir was a conflation of being a widow and the lack of willingness for her debtor to pay back what he owed her and her family, I can't understand why she didn't send someone too get the owed money back. Having said all this she had a difficult time and I suspect the church had to find a victim and they needed her too be set up as an example.

Here in Iowa we just had a woman come forward and say she helped her dad hide the bodies of more than 70 people over 30 years. They're attempting to locate the bodies in an old well right now. Edit: I'm not saying this is true, I'm not saying this would make him one of the most prolific killers. I'm just saying it's relevant. This would possibly put him towards the top of uncaught killers.

I’m holding out my judgement but I am airing on the size of believing it, maybe not the full number, but she’s been trying to tip police off since 2007 which is too long for it to be a con, and cadaver dogs alerted on the property which is undeniable evidence. Plus, both the fathers wives died in very ‘murder-esque’ ways including being strangled with telephone cords

Four vulnerable women with brown hair and blue eyes have disappeared in my area, one was found hanged and the other three are still just missing. The woman that was found dead had been missing for 10 days when found had allegedly called a family member the same day police announced they would do a search for her, so the search was cancelled, but she was dead for 10 days when they found her. We reporters are convinced there is a serial killer around, but police do not think so. We are waiting for woman number five.

The cops don't need to know/believe you. If you're a reporter your word is gonna be trusted in your area. Make sure to make your assumption known, and have others do the same if they're willing, to give validation. Police don't catch killers until they've already done a lot. It's basically a waiting game. The important thing is getting the public to see why you believe it and getting the women to take you seriously and protect themselves.

Having recently listened to Simon's Casual Criminalist episode about Pedro Lopez, I honestly and genuinely feel bad for Simon having to rehash the story. That episode really seemed to have traumatized our dear Simon, it really took a toll on him telling that horrible monster's story, I've never seen/heard Simon that outraged. God bless you Simon, and since Halloween has passed, I would encourage you to present some lighter material for your own mental health. Your audience loves everything you do, sir, and we care about you, so if you need to, feel free to take a break from the real macabre shit, maybe tell us more about space or crazy heists or stupid business ideas, some lighter stuff will do us all well. So... I guess ralph waldo emerson would consider my years volunteering at the community garden success. Since the bulk of the produce produced there goes to the nearby foot pantry at the community center. It used to be a meal site, until Covid came. If you're wondering, the most productive vegetables we've had were turnip greens, mustard greens, arugula and stringbeans. We also managed to get a couple dozen patty pan squashes this year, some of them one or two pounds each. But its not just the pounds of vegetables or servings of food I count success by at the community garden. Every year i try to put on a demonstration display, usually another attempt at growing the "three sisters." Never fully turns out right. This year I added Takane Ruby buckwheat to them as a display. And when over the years we got a number of elderly people asking if we had rhubarb, I dipped into my own pockets and bought a bare root rhubarb plant, which exploded in growth this year (its second.) A cherry tomato cultivar called "Juliet" has also repeatedly produced pounds of tomatoes and sprawled as much as eight feet across the ground. And we routinely get large harvests of flat leaved parsley, which reseeds in the same garden bed reliably. I've added tea and cooking herbs to a long narrow bed on the margins, which produces anise hyssop for tea and oregano for cooking. The chives were already there, and I had to manually curb their spread before they take over the entire herb bed. Basil has never done well in those beds, and so it gets a spot at the edges of the other beds. However, it cannot beat the greens I mentioned at the start. Why? Because as the band Rise Against would put it, I believe "we were all born with the moral obligation to leave this world a better place than the world that we found." It gives me accomplishment, peace, some food, and hopefully helps neighborhood morale. We've lost too many people to alcohol and opiates, and there's still too much violence and drama that tends to show up unannounced connected to those two things.

Talking about the RH negative blood type in the cleanser! My mom is actually a RH negative blood type! She has anemia, which runs in her family,so they have told her she is unable to give blood. But! I am actually the last of her children because of her blood type. I was born a whole month earlier than I was supposed to. She had told the doctor that something was wrong and he ignored her sending her home to have her water break in the car. But because of my older siblings and myself being positive blood type from our biological dads (I was a happy accident from my mom trying to find a new partner after her divorce) my mother was told that she could have the possibility of dying if she had another child. So my mom waited a year after me to make sure she wanted to have her tubes tied. So it’s actually awesome hearing about how someone was so super amazing to be able to donate that much blood and save so many lives! Thank you so much Simon (and of course the writer(s))!

My dad's blood type is the universal donor so he spent almost 40 years donating blood. The place he went to would mark it on their calendar the exact date he would be allowed to donate next and would promptly call him. He donated so much that they gave him gifts like free tickets to things. He only stopped when he developed some health conditions that made him ineligible. He's donated at a minimum 100 liters, but probably more than that.

Good on him. I am nowhere close because I got rejected half of the time I tried during my years of having periods which can mess up the hemoglobin but they still called me because I am O+ (not universal but still the most common type so they like my blood). I have never been rejected since menopause. I received blood at one point but I am still far in the positive where I have donated more than I received

What about Japanese officers Toshiaki Mukai and Tsuyoshi Noda who took part in a competition to see which of the two could behead 100 people first, Mukai killed 106, Noda 105 - Noda went on to tell people that he hadn't killed more than 4 or 5 in combat - and said the 'competition' was after Nanking. Gunkichi Tanaka who killed over 300 with his sword at Nanking - it is worth noting that there was no fighting in Nanking and the Chinese forces had withdrawn prior to the Japanese arriving, so those killed were women, children and the elderly. The conduct of the Japanese soldiers was so atrocious that the German Consul in the city (and an ardent Nazi) was compelled to write to Berlin to complain at the brutality. The chances are that the three of these repeated these acts later (Nanking occured in 1937) so they qualify as serial killers.

I have a few problems with the official definition. a) it doesn't cover people who lured victims to a set location to murder them (didn't Dahmer do most of his killing in his own home?) b) it does not make a specific category for multiple killers who acted purely out of greed (burke and Hare come to mind, or the keepers of the Red Inn if they were really guilty) from those who killed to satisfy a more personal urge...

People like these are the reason I believe the death penalty still has a place. People who will not under any circumstances be reformed, and people whos crimes are so horrific that they would never be fit for entry back into society
