Gill was under-rated. Good fighter, had a great hard low shot from the point. Not a top 2 D on a Stanley Cup team, but certainly a solid NHL depth D with a respectable career who could have played on any team anytime during his day. Can't say that about everybody.
@cavdragoon5 жыл бұрын
100 percent agree. Gill was a solid D man

Gill was mocked early in his career but as he matured he became a solid blueliner who could hold his own. Met him once in Toronto and he was a really nice guy.

Todd Gill was often underestimated but got the better of many a larger opponent in his career.He was a skillful fighter who threw with both hands and was fearless while protecting his team.A real old school hockey player.

Gill gave Sydor two fights. He beat him with his right then the left. I loved Todd Gill as a kid. A great team guy. Could contribute in all ways and was always there for the boys. Liked how Domi was also circling towards Sydor but had an official on him so Gill was left alone and able to get in. Not like everyone didn’t know who Todd effing Gill was. He throws

Always had mad respect for Todd Gill. Wasn't flashy but always got the job done and was fearless when it came to an opponent when it came time to a fight. wish we had more of that on the leafs for the last 10 years.

Todd would be a 2, 3 Dman on the present Leaf team. The rest of the present day Leafs would play bigger knowing that they had a player with his heart backing them up.

Todd Gill was a perfect No. 5 defenceman. Not perfect, but took care of his crease and an off the glass and out kind if defender. Could throw down if he had too, and was effective at it. Same with Jamie Macoun. Perfect 3rd defence pair.

That’s what’s needed today in hockey--you want to act like a tough punk, you’re going to get an ass whuppin!! This separates the men from the boys and you don’t go disrespecting a teams captain without paying a price.

Macoun, a vet and a tough, was assessing the situation the whole time. He knew he had Domi and Gill on the ice with him. He sees Gills taking care of it and he neutralizes Hatcher. Refs take Domi out of it

Gill took alot of abuse by stupid Leafs fans in Toronto, but he was a heart a soul hockey player who always stuck up for his teammates. He wasn't all that big either, his teammates loved having him on the team. The Maple Leafs today could use a Todd Gill on their blue line.

Ahh the good ol' days. Today's players are all softer than a spunk-filled kleenex. Literally anyone can do literally anything these days, and the only consequences are maybe someone will slap them or shed tears on them. Here Sydor did something slightly disrespectful, someone came to defend Gilmour, Sydor stood in there and everyone moves on. The way it should be.
