Those 'urns' are actually canopic jars, Spot. Ancient Egyptians used four of them to store the organs of the deceased. The jars held a specific organ and here they are: Duamutef (jackal) - stomach Hapi (baboon) - lungs Imseti (human) - liver Qebehsenuef (falcon) - intestines

Those are hieroglyphics. Ancient scriptures engraved on the tombs that tell the story behind the mummification as well as the reason. Some are also engraved as a warning should one desecrate the tomb. The guardian with the long staff is Horus also known in ancient Egyptian mythology along with Anubis. Great review man. I had the chance to get these sets but I passed it. Looking back I wish I got those earlier

That's another really sweet diorama. The upcoming MU Apocalypse would look really nice with those accessories around him.

Of all the McFarlane Monsters Playsets you have reviewed, this one is my favorite. I have been always fascinated with Egyptian history.

"If you're not careful, you'll trigger the mummy's curse this will open up and you'll fall into the pit of... I was going to say 'snakes', it might just be a snake." haha

@Odairu27 nah, that doesn't bother me too much,. the people that bother me are the ones that say where can I get this for cheap or where did I buy it, if they live in Europe and I live in Canada what good would it be to ask where I got it, if I said downtown Toronto, they'd only say well I live in Britian so that doesn't help me, that kinda gets annoying a bit

Saw this one in stores, still kicking myself for not buying it. Saw it a lot, too, it was just pricey for what I considered a figure back then (or maybe the look of the figures was too wild?). LOL! A two-headed snake?! Very cool set, although I'd agree that the main draws are the sarcophagus & mummy.

not called urn , urns are more for ashes of cremated remains those are called canopic jar during mummification some of the internal organ would be removed and placed in canopic jars as part of the ritual of mummification.

I had a laugh at the extra commentary on Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed, I realize this is a recurring theme with these sets, thanks to the shameless marketing of MacFarlane's Kiss figures on every package. I'm not a huge Kiss fan either, but I'd agree that Gene is entertaining and likeable, and have found myself watching his Family Jewels reality TV show, when I happen to be flipping through the channels and catch it on. Pretty funny stuff. Nice reviews though, just straightforward w/ humor.
