Todd Philips defends Joker: Folie A Deux ending. "Nobody likes Arthur." Right? Wrong?

Joker Folie a Deux has been one of the biggest misfires in movie history. The movie was supposed to be a huge hit. It was coming off a billion dollar opening for the first. The stars are shocked at its reception, execs are shocked. The director Todd Philips defends the ending which many says is to blame for the film being not received well due to negating the first film. Do you agree with his assessment? I wanted to touch on something while watching Joker 2 on Friday that I know has been discussed a lot: I love the theatre experience, but lately, most of the films I attend have people on their phones and talking throughout. It's becoming unbearable and really hurts my ability to get lost in a film. As a theatre lover, it’s making me hesitant to keep going, which isn’t a good thing

I love that Roxy didn’t simply say “The black guy from Lost!” Roxy actually took the time to look up the name of the actor and even showed us his photo on her phone! 😂 I would have simply said “the guy in the wheelchair from the HBO series, Oz!”

I’m disappointed to hear that Spider-Man 4 will likely be a multiverse movie. I was looking forward to see Tom Holland play a grounded Spider-Man. Spider-Man needs to be his own hero now and not just someone’s sidekick like he has been in the other MCU movies.

I don’t understand how you would still think the ending of joker 2 ending was cause of studio notes when the director admitted it was all him and defends it and the studio execs say the director didn’t listen to any notes.. yes studio notes/intervention lead to horrible, horrible things, but sometimes a creator just fucks up bad, and sometimes the studio actually has a good take, a broken clock is right once a day

Roxy would change her tune on Joker 2. She said on one of her other shows that she hopes WB is ok with her opinion on it. She lost her access already and is trying to get back in tptb good graces. By the end of next week, I’ll bet she loves it!
