Todd's solo always blew my mind, and I love how this vid shows a nice breakdown of that one part that I found really sweet to my ears.. Great job! 👍

The section at the end about the takeaways from the sucherman vid being phrasing and repetition really highlights how you can create a melody in drumming which is such a great idea. This is simple video that really packs a lot of info

Great Breakdown as always! I think the phrase "originally" comes from Steve Gadd (at least that's where I first heard and transcribed it). It's also really fun to permutate the pattern by interjecting another group of 3 (for example KLL or KRL), it will make the entire thing switch around and really allows for a lot of different possibilities: for example a 9 note pattern: KLLRLR KRL

Austin I do not know when this lesson came out. As nearly all the Commenters mention here you and Drumeo are my favorites among many good to great Channels on KZbin. Are you still collaborating with Drumeo? This will be a shame if you are not. And yes you are a fantastic drummer. BTW I went through Todd's 26 week course on Drumeo. A near lifetime worth of learning. Keep up the fantastic work Austin. I suspect your videos are fairly expensive to make especially when you factor in the value of your time you put into each one. Cheers.

Having a few ideas/phrases ready to go can really help with improvising. You can use them as a starting place to branch off from, or as tools to use for transitions. :)

Great stuff as always! So, hey, there's a lick Chris Coleman plays in a Meinl video, that kills me. Any chance you could do a Study the Greats on something like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJfXaal8jrl4gtU (those paradiddles played over dotted-eighths....)
