I've had Livescope since 2021 and not going back but I'm in the same conundrum. I love to old school fish, Chapo, Spook, Vibe jig... Watching a fish come out of a foot of water and smash vibe jig is just a blast. Throwing a different weighted minnow bait and at 15-40 FOW is really boring to me. Hard to spend a day doing that.

Also, I think major tournaments, especially, have to limit it. I think versatility and being able to do different techniques and different things should be part of it. Not just whoever can scope the best wins.

100% with the age factor. I had my window during the late 90's thru 2010. Won several big events and made a decent income most years. Then I noticed my performance going down over each year. I also feel I fish better, but my results do not tell the same story. I have live scope, but have incorporated into my fishing as more of another advanced sonar. I will always tournament fish because I love the competition, but I also use reality and enjoy the good days, then accept the bad days. Never going to change my way of fishing (old school) because I enjoy my way, but not going to hate on innovation either. Its a choice and as an American that is one of our rights👍

If the only way to catch bass is to play video games then I’ll stop fishing. But it’s not. Been fishing ever since I could hold a rod. I can still catch them. And the joy is still actually in fishing. It always has been for me anyway. If you want to watch people starring at a screen playing games just go to your neighbors basement. If we lose the challenges in catching fish, we lose the lure and then the sport. The Karen’s will finally win. If you don’t think there are tons of people with tons of money trying to make it illegal to catch fish, you’re delusional.

LIVESCOPE = 90% hunting and 10% fishing OLD SCHOOL = 90% fishing and 10% hunting
@Hussman-n7h19 күн бұрын
Fishing is hunting 100% of the time. We just use another name for it. Whether you are casting a rod trolling or throwing a net, you are fishing and hunting.
@BluntTruth719 күн бұрын
You are correct. Fishing is Hunting and using skill sets to find bass. Livescope removes those skill sets you learned throughout your years of fishing from the equation, and now you can find fish without putting in the hard work. This is an undeniable fact. So, now we see people at the bow focused on the monitor the whole time, trying to put a bait in front of a bass in hopes of catching it. These people don't even look around their environment for tall tale signs of bass habitats and instead rely solely on their monitors to do this for them. This is not fishing; it's gaming. There is no skill in this type of fishing, and it is disheartening to see the professionals fall into a sponsorship trap and side with these sponsors to sell highly expensive pieces of equipment that are turning this industry into an elitist sporting event. Yes, I'm old school and believe in the old ways of finding and catching bass. One person here mentioned he bought Livescope to avoid being left behind. That is a very provocative statement if you think about it. Todd, this is a great discussion, and I can't wait to hear back from you and rip me apart, so bring it.

I guess I’m old school, and the Livescope group really kicked my butt for a few years. Hell I didn’t even know they were using it until these two guys started kicking everyone’s butts in our local tournaments.😆 But overtime I’ve tried to learn everything I can about it, just like when side scan came out. I use it all the time but it doesn’t replace everything I do. Lake St. Clair is one of the lakes I fish a lot and I would say it is very helpful on that lake. But I really believe the fish are beginning to learn from getting caught this way. It’s already not as easy as when I first got mine. What will it be like 5yrs from now?

Hello Todd. I believe you have the right idea. The best tournament fishermen can switch from ffs to fishing without it as need be. If you are ffs fishing and you are in a school of 2 1/2 pounders. If you have a 4 to 5 pounder in your back pocket on the shore, it is a good strategy. I do believe that in the high school system, there should be no ffs used to teach them the basics. Then, once they reach college/university, you have a good basic knowledge, and then you can use ffs. Building a good knowledgeable farm system. Tight lines. Regards, Steven.

Man even lower level tournaments you have to be good at livescope. It's just part of fishing now and you have to accept that until a change is made... That said I'm in the same boat I'd much rather catch them swimming a jig, flipping grass, throwing crankbaits, spinnerbaits, or Carolina rigs but when things get tough I always end up in the middle of a creek or ditch with spinning rods throwing a minnow. It's definitely turning into something I have a good bit of confidence in... like in an emergency I know I can scrap any practice push out deep normally looking for big groups of bait on side scan then start looking around with Livescope until I find fish then it just turns into a numbers thing. Meaning the more fish I throw at the more I catch which is kind of crazy because I always end up wondering why I didn't just do that from the beginning. Great video as always keepem coming man!!!

Todd, love your analogy on preparation for a Tournament. But you just solidified the argument about why FFS shouldn't be allowed in tournaments. With FFS, you no longer need to do all the prep work beforehand and can rely on this tool to find your fish for you. This is unprecedented because now you have the ability to find Bass regardless of your experience and capabilities, thus making it easier to catch them without any prep work. So, all those old-school guys don't need to worry about showing up to a tournament if they don't have FFS on their boats because you're saying they will not have a chance against someone who does have FFS. This statement has also been proven if you look at tournaments won in either BASS or MLF. Those who have FFS have won all tournaments that have allowed this tool to be used. There may be a couple exceptions to this, but I'm pretty sure I'm correct. The other question is, who is pushing FFS? Is it the professionals in BASS and MLF who feel the majority need this tool in order to compete? Or, is it the Sponsors who sell these products and sponsor the tournaments who threaten to pull their funds if their equipment isn't used by the pros or advertised through the tournaments? Probably the latter.

@michaellamenza761720 күн бұрын
I think because it's made fishing one dimensional is the main reason people don't like it. Also, seeing fish live and how they react, etc, is too big of a game changer. I think most ppl realize it could take time to learn it, and some ppl are better than others at using it. But there's no question it makes things easier and cuts down the leaning curve and makes it way easier to find fish. No one says any different about that.

unfortunately, you can not win a multiple day tournament without FFS. Look at how many multiple day tournaments were won this year with FFS. I don't believe you would find more than two that were won without it. You must use it if you fish tournaments to have a shot to win. FFS first, then instincts second. Fishing has turned into hunting. Remember how Wheeler was won and the age of the angler who did it. there is only one KVD. Good Luck.

FFS- Goal- Locate school of large bass. Means: Log 200+ miles finding schools pre fishing and identify FFS baits that work. End: Cash a check. Multiple that by however many FFS tourney anglers and all the big fish that are bear to death heading to weigh-in. It can’t, it isn’t going to end well for the bass populations in any body of water.

It'd be hard to deny the increased rate of barotrauma, and fizzing is far from a guaranteed success. The concern for the treatment of bass in tourneys is legitimate and we can't disregard it saying that they get released and they're fine. Tourneys have an obligation to pad their release numbers to look better. People who live near tourney lakes will testify to the massive fish kill that follows the "release" cycle.
@CumminsMichael18 күн бұрын
@@mikeandrade586 I got a few photos of those “releases” after a weigh-in this year. You can see the whites of the bass bellies of at least 16 largemouth bass. And those are just the ones I could get into frame from the dock after one tournament this year. I feel the damage of increased tournament fishing (post-COVID phenomena) to the quality of bass on a lake won’t be seen until the next generation of bass anglers. FFS just makes it an unrelenting assault on quality bass all year long. JMHO

I turned it down when I qualified and know others that did the same. As far as ffs goes I have no interest in it and think it will become less effective over time. I’ve tournament fished for close to 50 years and any time someone figures out how to exploit bass that haven’t been being effectively targeted they dominate. In time the bass being targeted with ffs will be over exploited and less vulnerable.
