Just got mine last week. I’m new to the SW radio world & a still trying to get the hang of this, but the radio has been a lot of fun, so far.

Cool, you can download the HAM band plan for shortwave, and tune in some amateur activity using the LSB/USB functions.

I just ordered this exact radio. It'll be interesting to see what I pick up on MW/AM radio and shortwave. I live in Salem, Oregon. At night on my car radio I can pick up KFI 640 in Los Angeles, 975 miles south. Also KNX 1070 Los Angeles, KGO 810 in San Francisco, about 650 miles south, and KNBR 680 in San Francisco come in clear as a bell. If I can pick up those very distant stations with my car radio, it'll be fascinating to see what I'll pick up with this device. I can also pick up KKOH 780 in Reno, and KBOI 670 in Boise. This radio should pick up all those stations and more easy at night. Plus I want to learn how to SWL.

I was tempted to buy this. I went and bought a pl-990. A ton more money. I’d love to see you review that radio.

Hi, I have the Tecsun PL-990X, and it's a great radio with very good reception. I also have the Tecsun H-501X, which is lovely with its stereo sound. But yes, I think you're going to love the Tecsun PL-990. The Tecsun 990X that I have is the same as the Tecsun PL-990, but the X model comes with more accessories. The Tecsun PL-990 is a lovely radio to use take care and have a nice day.

I may, the one I purchased last year had tons of issues, buttons not working, horrible tones on MW, ect. Could have got a lemon.

@@todderbert Sorry to hear that, and I must say that I am very surprised. Mine has been nothing but an absolute peach. I use every bit of it, including the Bluetooth.

Hi Todderbert, I also have to comment on your problems with the Tecsun 990. I have no such problems with my Tecsun 990x as you describe. On the contrary, my Tecsun PL-990x works very well. It's a lovely radio to use. However, I bought my Tecsun PL-990x from a Swedish dealer. Normally, I prefer to buy Tecsun radios from Anon-Co. I've had my Tecsun PL-990x for about three years, about as long as I've had the Tecsun H-501x. But sometimes you get a faulty radio, and it has happened to me before (not with my Tecsun radios), but I know that when the Tecsun PL-330 came out on the market, they had problems with reverse tuning on the SSB band, but Tecsun fixed that problem with a new firmware. So maybe Todderbert you should give the Tecsun PL-990X a new try take care and have a lovely evening.

Hi Todderbert, thanks for the bandscan. Oh yes, you do get a nice radio for the money. I love this radio, and my Tecsun PL-330 is on very often. Todderbert, you should check out the Tecsun PL-320. You get more bandwidth filters with the Tecsun PL-320, but it doesn’t have SSB. However, it does have some nice upgrades. And Todderbert, I just ordered a new flashlight-my first Acebeam flashlight. It’s the upgraded Acebeam Pokelit AA with 1,000 lumens in gray color and a cool white 6,500K. I’m also going to buy the dark green one with the neutral white 5,000K version. It’s a bit of a bad time to buy flashlights now because it’s bright here all summer up in northern Sweden, where I live; the sun never sets, so I can't test flashlights properly. But I couldn’t resist buying it. I got such a good deal on the Acebeam Pokelit AA 1,000 lumens. I have seen your review of the Acebeam Pokelit AA in orange color, also with a 5,000K tint and 650 lumens output. I think they seem very nice. Take care, Todderbert, and have a nice night.

I use my Acebeam a ton. Just picked up a new light, the Skilhunt EC200S Mini. Cool little dude :)

@todderbert Hey Todderbert, nice! Yes, I like what I see (flashlight talk, if I may joke a little). In Acebeam Pokelit AA flashlights, yes, I'm also going to pick up the Acebeam Pokelit AA, the more neutral white 5000K version. The Skilhunt EC200S is interesting; I'll take a look at that flashlight. Yes, I also bought a Skilhunt flashlight, my first Skilhunt E2A. Skilhunt has some interesting flashlights. Hi again, I just checked out the Skilhunt EC200S-Mini flashlight. It seems very nice. I saw that they have high CRI LED versions in 4500K and 3000K. I must say I'm definitely interested in this Skilhunt flashlight, but I'll wait for your review to hear what you think about the Skilhunt EC200S-Mini flashlight. Take care, Todderbert.
