Arkaidyn You'd be distracted by all the visual talking in your car mirrors anyway :-D And having your car seat kicked, shoulder tapped and other means of getting your attention to make you look at them while they sign. Besides, kids make loads of noises even when they say nothing...

They are SO CUTE!! What a pleasure to watch! I love the facial expression on the boy on the left who's asking where the propeller airplane is. ASL enhances language skills for ANYONE, whether they can hear or not. I taught all of my children (hearing) to sign since birth and it has been not but an asset to this family. God bless.

Too precious for words. I am so happy that they have each other to communicate with. I worked in special education for a long time. One of the most heartbreaking things to watch is a child feeling isolated. I get the feeling these two kids feel very loved and supported.

This is the most precious thing I have ever seen. It just goes to show that children truly are unlimited in their ability to understand the world around them regardless of anything else and that from the earliest age all we as humans want to do is communicate in any way possible. You have a BEAUTIFUL family.

My neighbor works at a school with integrated classes for "regular" kids and kids with disabilities, and although her toddler isn't hard of hearing, she's been teaching her sign language so that she can communicate since she doesn't speak yet. It's so amazing to see a kid who still babbles in baby talk come in and ask for things so clearly with ASL. I shared this video on facebook a few years ago and it popped up on my memories page today. So glad I saw it again. Cute kids! Hope they're learning and growing well. :)

I plan on teaching my children sign language regardless of their hearing. I think its so cool to see both these little ones actually having a conversation so small. Plus learning sign language opens a whole new culture to kids. I only learned basic stuff because my cousin ended up getting a cochlear and stopped signing. Honestly it should mandatory like English and Spanish in some states. Thanks for posting!

I applaud you for teaching your children sign language. I have a deaf sibling, and have grown up with sign language. Working the job I do (tow truck driver) it is easy to talk with a stranded motorist that happens to be deaf. Sign language should be a required class in all schools.

This is a beautiful sight to see that these Deaf toddlers are communicating a storm rather than bawling or throwing tantrums trying to communicate. This is a powerful video showing how using signs benefit Deaf children to communicate what they want/need as it does affects the development of stronger cognitive skills. Smart kids! Wow! Thanks for sharing!

I have two hearing kids, but signed with both of them when they were infants/toddlers. I remember being amazed that my 11/12-month-old, when equipped with some language, DIDN'T use her words to communicate essential needs (apple, not cheese), but rather, like your boys, wanted to chat or point stuff out. It was really a wake-up for me that communication was more necessary to her than what I considered to be basic needs like food, sleep, and comfort.
