Lan Yuan/SiZhui is practically WangXian's (Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi's) son. He was saved and raised by WuXian when he was a baby, and when WuXian died, WangJi saved him, adopted him into his sect and continued raising him till adulthood. Lan SiZhui even kind of takes them both as parents, since he doesn't have any memory of his actual parents and these two were the main paranting figures in his life.

Honestly, The Untamed is popular because it's a fantastic story, whether you see it as a bromance/BL or just as freaking great plot with vivid characters. There should be more stories with queer folks doing things other just being defined by their romantic relationships. (Although their love is one for the ages, ngl.)

As someone who was raised on fantasy books like Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Harry Potter, etc, The Untamed is just an amazing fantasy epic in general. I watched it with my sister who isn't at all into bl or queer media, and she loved it too. It's just an amazing story, and I think more people should dey give it a chance.

No, it's not just a reunion at the end. Sizhui is one of the first people he meets upon returning 16yrs later. He works with him on andxoff throughout. However, neither of the two know who the other actually is until the end. But even if they weren't 'father (mother) and son', they're still good friends. Then Sizhui remembers.

ooh..yes...definitely. There is so much more than the censored or not romance between Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian. Honestly, in the book, they only properly confess and get together to the end. Majority of the story consists of other things like really good mystery, thriller, ghost hunting, and beautiful yet sometimes tragic and heart-wrenching relationships. So many small sub plots that play so well into the major plot of the story. Well developed side characters and side stories. Its a whole package tbh. Even the author's other novel "Heaven official's blessing" is also just as well written and fleshed out novel.

FYI, A Yuan's courtesy name, Sizhui, was given by Lan Wangji. I copied this from a MDZS/CQL fans' tumblr : Sizhui, his courtesy name or zi, derives from a rhyming couplet from the author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu herself. “思君不可追，念君何时归” (sī jūn bù kě zhuī, niàn jūn hé shí guī) translates to 'yearning for but cannot chase after you, longing for someday when you will return'. So the name "Sizhui", is Lan Wangji's love poet for Wei Wuxian. CMIIW

One of the things Wei WuXian did in the past, for which he was publicly hated, was protect a small group of people from the Wen Clan (a clan that everyone else wanted to execute because their leader committed terrible crimes). Part of the clan was also a little boy, Wen Yuan. When Wei WuXian died, all the members of the Wen clan were killed, but this little boy stayed hidden. There, he was found by Lan WangJi, who was heartbroken by WuXian's death, looking for anything in his body. Lan WangJi saved this boy, took care of him as a part of his own sect, and gave him the courtesy name Lan SiZhui. When WuXian came back from death, he built friendships with all the juniors, but especially Lan SiZhui, who is the first and one of the few people who are kind to him. The reunion you saw is actually at the end of the series, and it's a reunion because it's revealed that they knew each other in the past (Lan Yuan remembers Wei WuXian, and Wei WuXian finds out that that little boy he thought was dead was actually with him all along).

Nope, he was seen through out the series, always running into each other not knowing but slowly recalling they're relationship to each other. Wanji finds him, takes him to Gusu, raised him and all the truth comes out just about when Wanji was about to tell Wei. Beautiful, that was Beautiful!!! 🥰

Although this was a secondary story, Lan Yuan’s existence and experiences reflected all the best of the relationship between Wei Wuxian And Lan Zhan. But he also reflected the best of his Wen Family.
