Very innovating! I love to see tech merge. Todd you are on top of this stuff early on, this will be the future. I use a tablet to control my Soundcraft mixer.

Hey Todd, can you make a video showing the cables and routing etc you use to drive your hardware from the ipad ?

Is there a way to make a track longer than 16 steps by combining clips?

I just played a view minutes with the app I find certain things are not good. Regarding the piano roll: 1. when you want to change the already drawn notes in the timing (sliding them left or right) it often creates new notes and you find yourself changing the length of new created notes instead of sliding the old ones around, often resulting that the new notes got very short. If the length is too short than you can´t delete them with long press anymore. You have to go to edit mode.. but you can not delete the note there either. You have to select multiple notes and delete them all together with the note you wanted to delete in the first place. You have to create those deleted notes that you didn´t want to delete ..again! When you slide the note left or right there is no grid snap. You have to quantize it in an extra menu. This long press to delete notes is also the biggest disappointment I have ever seen in a piano roll view ever. Sometimes you want to delete a note but you press not long enough ..letting you press this damn note longer as you need next time in worry that it will not go away, which slows down the workflow extremely and is an absolute fun killer. Combined with the limitations above I can not use the piano roll view in a creative way. The step sequencer seems to be more versatile but I have to dig deeper to comment on that. As far as I can tell there is no undo/redo in the app either ..which is a very bad thing As a quick suggestion I would make a adjustable midi delay for every channel, because plugins and apps respond faster than external synthesizers which are routed through audio interfaces.

I agree, they make various tools for a reason. I think Mod Step is the most intuitive sequencer I've touched in my 20 years of music. 👾👾 I'm glad you dig the beat Step !

You can do so much more with modstep. The hardware lovers are stuck in the Stone Age. They pay much more and get much less. I. Don’t understand. They say it’s about touching real knobs and sliders. For me it’s about creativity and productivity. I prefer having a hundred high quality synths on my phone for the price of one hardware synth. My phone fits in my pocket. That one synth requires a carrying case and shipping charges and worry about breaking so insurance is needed. There are no positives to hardware except knobs. Oh boy, knobs, nothing beats a knob. I have plenty of knobs on my controller.
