I started to have respect for Todd Runtgren until I just found out he was 'anti" Donald Trump and told Trump supporters NOT to come to his shows. Now, I'm back to thinking he is an OVERRATED asshole. I understand why his name is "'Runt-gren" - he is a true 'RUNT" to me.

I Love this Man. I grew up listening to his music as it was released. I'm very lucky in that sense. He's a Genius and does what he does for the Love of it. Not just making & performing music, but doing it with excellence.

I just stumbled across this. Had no idea it was here or why it was here. Coupla things in response to the comment. First, in my role as "Disembodied Voice" on the other end of this exchange, I'm no 'interviewer"...far from it! I'm just another Toddstock fan/participant who was fortunate enough to get to ask a question. Second, I didn't consider his response to my f/u to be snapping at me...at all. He & I had a number of great convos during the event. This was an extension of those chats so there's more context than is revealed in the clip. Todd is funny, opinionated, & quick-witted as all can plainly see. I was getting the "wrap up" sign & didn't get to ask the f/u question as well as I would have liked. Had a blast anyway...the time of my life!!!

dear mr.brown, this goes to show we all have or own perspectives and i shouldn"t be so quick with my out of context assumption,i should know better than that.if i will remove that non accurate comment if you like.didn"t mean to troll you.i think i based my shortsighted response on one of the previous comments below.it was a good answer from todd anyway.so thank you for bringing that out of the shadows. wishing you all the best.

No worries!!! Mr. Brown was my father. He's been gone a long time...24 years today, as a matter of fact. I'm Chris. I see no need to modify or delete anything. We all bring our on experiences & POV to what we see. When we engage in conversation with others, we get to see their experiences & POV. Everybody benefits! Leave it be. Take care.

xenafan234 I think that won't happen. They've had more than enough time to make that decision. Todd's over their head. The best musicians, at least in my experience, are not easily recognized and remain somewhat in the background. Reason? It's not important. "He with an ear shall hear"

So basically we learn that there's something at the heart of it that's simply awful, a man who makes a living off a plastic waffle. Except that it's worse for said man than just trying to figure out the commerce angle, since plastic waffles are now only a tiny fraction of the former gold mine and consumed only by obsessives and luddites. Apparently now said man has to listen and try to answer multiple part questions in multiple angles and then when you give an honest answer somebody cracks up laughing where they shouldn't be. And then you have to repeat yourself when somebody doesn't catch the drift of the first answer. But, the brilliant surprise in this video and why I'm liking it, is they have the good sense to let him say Tony Bennett and BB King. I took my Mom to see Tony Bennett recently and I know EXACTLY what he means with this statement. A cool moment, thanks for capturing.

Interesting to notice how his accent has changed over time. Watch that interview up at Bearsville in the mid 70's, he has a definite NY (the old NY) accent. This sounds like a hybrid of Phily and Hawaii. Almost as if he's picked up on the annoying interviewers drawl. Todd's looking around like "this is a joke, right?" Seriously? 60 seconds and he's not completed his question? Do they all talk that way in HI??

Stupidest comment of the week. Congrats.
@sydneymchugh271310 жыл бұрын
Agreed Peter, if john knew anything about Todd he'd know one of his most ass kicking Rock Guitar God songs, "Is It My Name" in which he says, "My voice goes so high, you would think I was gay! But I play my guitar in such a man-cock way!" - Although even that might be too homoerotic for brother john here. Run, john, run! Those gay thoughts can't catch you! LoL!
@CheshireCatband10 жыл бұрын
Peter Gerstenzang Right. Really confusing comment. Back-handed, pro/anti-gay compliment/insult. Although he was quite intentionally androgynous LOOKING BITD, he never SOUNDED gay to me.
@CheshireCatband10 жыл бұрын
Come off gay in his songs, but seems "normal"; nice choice of words. I guess I know what you mean to say.
@ZiplocRules20139 жыл бұрын
You obviously don't own any of his albums and have only heard the hits that the record producers picked for him to get on their label. He is so progressive and ahead of his time; best guitarist and lyricist their is; buy one of his albums..start with maybe "TODD" brown cover, double lp/cd; you'll be hooked, fast
