Landing a black flash comes with a temporary buff. They described it in season one as getting in the zone. Thats why after Todo landed his black flash, the narrator said "[and with that, theyre all operating at 120% of their latent potential]". All three of them landed a black flash in this episode. So, Todo did no damage but he got a buff for the rest of this fight, essentially. There was still a point to that scene.

He could have used this moment to further prove that body came before the soul contrary to what Mahito thought as Kenjaku pointed out. We also see him being consistent with Toji dominating the soul of granny's grandson. So after all that this becomes an inconsistency he should have atleast taken some internal damage. Gege just wanted to prolong this fight

Wow wow wow! This episode was beyond amazing. It got me so damn hype! Yelling at my TV n shit! Exactly what I wanted to happen happened, the 🐐 AOI TODO has returned!!! What a hell of an entrance and he is just what Itadori needed in this dire time. His besto friendo, his brother has come in and stoked that fire in Yuji to get up and push through, for those like Nanami. The callbacks in this episode and Yuji saying he’ll suffer in Nanami’s place were so damn good. Of course they gotta add to that and hit us with Mechamaru confessing his love to Miwa along with finally leaving for good. I hope the Kyoto students get there already and help. Nobara better be alive too dammit. Todo’s Black Flash animation was INSANE. Shit is really getting crazy now, AGAIN. And you definitely know that’s true when the ending song and credits play as the episode is still going 🤘🏽 I must also add that Nobunaga Shimazaki, Mahito’s VA, was tremendous as usual. This is definitely one my favorite episodes and further cements why love Todo. I cannot wait to see more of this epic tag team match and my favorite duo better make it out of this alright!

Yuji is able to damage mahito's soul. Todo can't. So his basic attacks and even a black flash won't have much affect on mahito. It was the same with nobara. Her attacks didn't hurt him at first until she used resonance which damaged his soul. The other person who can hurt mahito is sukuna because he can also attack his soul.
