It was my best! Please don’t stop making this content, it helps a lot of people! Hello Dear, I'm so decided to take it! Have u some suggestions?
@hamzzaismail99022 жыл бұрын
@@funny100m12 Well, first of all you have to study 3 hours each day for three months before taking the test. For the speaking and writing sections you have to follow the templates. But it is great to listen, and read academic topics, and build strong vocabulary. Then you can use some materials like books and channels. I recommend 400 word must have for the TOEFL, it is for free and very helpful, cuz the vocabulary are always illustrated in a short text. Best advice is to improve what you can't and don't waste time for something else. But obviously if you are a native speaker it will be much easier. I am not, so therefore it was quite harsh. Good luck.

Hello Josh! I took the TOEFL with a few days of preparation, and realized too close to the date of the test that speaking was the hardest part for me! However, with your speaking practice and the help of an AI recording website, I got the results I needed. I think I failed one speaking task but I composed myself and quickly reflected on what my mistakes had been. I felt insecure about my delivery because I did not fully understand the academic concept that was briefly flashed to me, so I said exactly that in my last task... it was something like "Even though I did not fully understand the concept of blah, blah. I did understand ...and went on and on about what I had understood. I nailed that last speaking task and I am sure that it increased my score. My tip is relax and speak as much as you can. Thanks again Josh!

I had my TOEFL Exam in 30th April and I had around 3 days to prepare for the test. The speaking section was a big Achilles heel for me since I have bad habit of stammering even under a little bit of pressure. Your previous videos gave me the required practice to increase my confidence enough to get 23 in the speaking section(22 was the cut-off). Also, I got 29 in each of the other sections. Hence, 110 in total. Thank you so much! Maybe if I had access to this video before the exam, it would have been a little bit better😥.

yeah yeah we get that you are smart. Do not have to brag about excelling the exam after preparing for only 3 days. It is impossible for non native speakers to do that unless they had western education based on English as first language. So stop. It gives the wrong idea to students who are appearing for the exam about the difficulty level of the test. apparently I see mostly Indians bragging about it in the comments. someone prepared for 2 days and got 120 and some of them even did not study at all. Bravo!!

I missed the speaking section by one point :( I don't know if it's because I stutter and my fluency is not the best, not even in my native language. Now I'm going to try again next Sunday, even though I missed it this time, I would have never scored 88 out of 120 without these videos. Only one more point!

Hi Josh, thank you so much for this videos, it is just what I needed. Your attitude and enthusiasm motivates me to study even when I don't feel like it. I have a question and I hope you can help me: are we allow to take notes during the speaking process, when we hear the lectures of conversations? It would be great if you could answer me. Thank you again.

You can take notes whenever you like. The only exception is at the beginning of a section when they are reading directions (or during the 10-minute break time in the middle of the test).

Thank you very much for the work you're doing!!! I have only one question, is it mandatory to use personal examples in personal choice - tasks, or it is enough to just provide explanations and details?
@TSTPrep Жыл бұрын
We usually recommend that students include a personal example, usually a lie or exaggeration, but if you don't like that idea, you can provide two reasons for your opinion and elaborate on them.

Hi Josh! I want to ask if I can answer Q1 (choose something you think is better) in a way that agrees with both choices? For example, Q1 in the ETS practice test asks me to choose between taking risks and being cautious. Both your and ETS's guidance only mentioned choosing one of the options. However, the world needs both of these to really run
@TSTPrep2 жыл бұрын
Great question. There are many different ways to answer an independent speaking question. We usually recommend that you stick to one side and focus on it, but it's up to you, as long as you answer the question.

great video ! May I know the manner of your practice in your "emergency course" ? Is there some kind of a software to record my voice while i am speaking and also timing me?
@TSTPrep7 ай бұрын
Hi there and thank you for asking. The Emergency Course includes practice tests with answer keys, sample speaking responses, and sample essays. As for the Speaking tests, each test comes with a voice recorder and timer. You can create a free account on our site and access one sample practice test if you want to get a better idea of what our tests look like. Here is the link - tstprep.com/sign-up-toefl/

Hey Josh! Just wanted to thank you so much for helping me with your great tips! I’ve studied for 7 days just by watching your videos and practicing a bit and scored 27 on speaking! Overall score 105, which is a lot more than enough for my university. That wouldn’t be possible without your amazing helpful tips, you really are an amazing teacher!! Once again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH 😇

Thank you once again Josh! In the checklist, the "Was my intro 15 sec or less?" is one of the criteria they will evaluate us on the test? Because many times my intro took longer, like 20sec, but is there a problem if I could finish the speaking in time?
@TSTPrep2 жыл бұрын
Hi there Juliana and great question. This isn't really a strong rule and there are many ways to score well on the TOEFL Speaking. It should be fine, but note that your introduction does not have much important information in terms of content and vocabulary so it's a good idea to reduce it to less than 15 seconds so you can develop the topic and expand on your answer.

1 small correction. At 35:51, the pronoun used is "he". Based on the professor's voice I think we can assume that the professor is a "she"? Anyways, I'm not here to point out mistakes. This was a great session! Please do more. It helped me a lot.

Hello Josh Thank you for your thorough and easy-to-understand explanation. I have a question, is it mandatory to give a short conclusion for question type 1, 2, and 3 and also to include a personal example/anecdote for question type 1?
@TSTPrep Жыл бұрын
Conclusions are optional for both the speaking and writing tasks (all of them). Use them if you have the time, but do not worry if you do not. As for Speaking question 1, we usually recommend that students include a personal example, usually a lie or exaggeration, but if you don't like that idea, you can provide two reasons for your opinion and elaborate on them.

Thank you so much. All your videos have been helping me a lot! But just one question I want to ask about speaking part 2. I know that during this part, I have to briefly summarize the announcement letter before talking about the conversation, but what I wonder is this: If the letter says something like “campus construction should take place during the summer break because 1. it’s disruptive 2. it’ll finish quicker when the weather is usually good”, do I have to include these two reasons in my response? Or can I just not tell the reasons and go straight to discussing the listening part?
@TSTPrep2 жыл бұрын
Great question! Yes, you do not have to say the reasons from the reading, you will naturally include them when you talk about the listening.
@oneallme2 жыл бұрын
@@TSTPrep That’s great! Because last time when I toke the Toefl test, I included the reasons in my response, but then ran out of time at the end. I couldn’t fully explain the second reason from the conversation. :( This isn’t really related to this speaking video, but if you could reply, do I have to include a conclusion, even if it’s just one sentence, to get full mark? I’m really struggling to get a 30 in writing, and I don’t know why I’m getting my points deducted.
@TSTPrep2 жыл бұрын
@@oneallme Good question and no, it's not necessary. I do recommend a sentence or two because I find it strange to write an essay without a conclusion, but it's optional.

You're not alone! Lots of students feel the same way. It's weird to speak "on command". The best cure I know for this is to practice in a TOEFL-like situation, use a timer, record your response, and try to get used to those weird settings by continuing to practice every day. Hope that helps!
