If I had a nickel for every time you guys have reacted to a show that has a battle between two siblings with fire powers, one with normal flames and one with blue ones, and the sibling with normal flames has a scar on his left side, whose relationship was greatly impacted by their abusive fathers, I'd have two nickels. the thing that upsets me is that Toga's explaination for "wanting to become people she loves" is WAY more clearly explained in the subbed version/manga. it's like wanting to be more like someone you obsess over, or wanting to dress more similarly to them to her...because she technically looks up to them in a way

I love most of the season, but the "nah this isnt a quirk, it's his body adapting to all of his quirks (dont worry about the fact he just had a ton of quirks destroyed by New Order and currently has the rest suppressed by Erasure)" always felt rough to me.

To be fair, his body has been doing that even after the fight with Star, and using the quirks themselves doesn't seem to be a factor. I am annoyed that he seems to have so much control over it

@relic5752 yeah, i know it was shown after the fight to foreshadow it but the reasoning still just doesn't work for me lol. If his body is adapting because of all of his quirks, why did it start after a huge chunk of them got removed? I guess with how it was explained im thinking of it as his body upgrading the hardware to keep up with the increasing software (quirks), even though the software just got downgraded and in this moment is even disabled. Maybe that's just me though.

@@zuralani1 It was also happening before the fight with Star. In line with your analogy, the software itself lost a few gigs of data, but still requires a huge amount of RAM to run what is left. That RAM doesn't go away just because the software is closed

@@zuralani1because he was never fully completed until recently lmao. He was only at 98% with star and after he became completed, thus his upgraded body is able to show off its full potential, it has nothing to do with adapting to his own quirks. It’s adapting to the danger he’s in.

Oh and in case you didn't figure it out Tomura Shigaraki's mutant form is probably a reference to Tetsuo Shima from Akira and Okuto Island the Island that they trapped Himiko Toga on with the aquarium where Gang Orca is the director is a reference to Kohei Horikoshi Sensei's last manga Oumagadoki Zoo.

How many final battles can happen at once in this arc? Yes. ALL OF THEM. This is full on Endgame following Infinity War. Everyone is exhausted and has suffered. Now everyone wants to tackle the source and stop it all. (3 parter today from team setup choices plus the AFS field, the Toga and Dabi field, and just one dedicated to the absolute nightmare to figure out that is the AFS growth) So here’s the individual battle plans for each fight. AFS is to be singled out and secluded as someone stronger than Prime All-Might and AFO. Deku at approximately 75% with lots of containment specialized heroes to keep AFS still and open with Mirko, Bakugo, and Nejire backing up long range and short range hits while he’s erased would overwhelm him. And the electric fence to hopefully stop him if they get lucky his heart stops past whatever built in electrical resistance he has. Nobody is immune to electricity. I also noticed most quirks in this fight are not valuable to him with what we know he has. So if someone DID lose their quirk it’s not that big of a change as much as it is to lose a player. And with Erasure protected, that means he can’t steal a game over quirk in the seconds they have to start the trap. (And OFA must be worn down 1st to hopefully sap Deku’s will before he tries to steal OFA so if Deku WERE there, he’s actually pretty safe as they setup erasure. AFS wouldn’t try to steal OFA THAT instantly with so many other backup players. Deku might not be at max OFA power yet, but he DOES have willpower to resist to an unknown degree and cause vestige damage which AFS has to be wary of.) Endeavor and Hawks are at the forefront of the AFO encounter in the sky. Whoever wins can deal massive blows to their opponent’s forces. AFO with no opponents means he can go around grabbing quirks, and Endeavor no opponents can essentially just heat up the area til none of the villains can operate. (Heroes can coordinate where he goes to not affect them the same way) But god forbid AFO gets EITHER Fierce wings or Hellflame. Both opponents are high value quirks to steal even if it’s not a game over move. Dabi faces Shoto and the Flamin Sidekickers built to counteract his heat. Iida might be weak to fire with his overheating recoil, but having a super speedster that can keep people clear and other villains from engaging with the main fight is vital. (Iida being on backup saddens me but also knows fire evacuations is literally one of the most vital roles in disasters.) Toga faces Uraraka and Tsu who are going to disarm her and just keep her up and out. If she’s floating, she REALLY can’t do much. And with it being in the water, it makes it really tough for her to collect blood. And having water specialized heroes like Tsu getting boosted abilities in these conditions with more options, and Gang Orca and his crew being in their element, while most villains will be slowed down in the water. (Batman: True, I’m slow, but we’re all slow when we’re thigh deep in mud) Sirius is I think for Toga’s vanishing act. I didn’t see Selkie but I’m going to assume he’s here too. Aoyama and Fat Gum take down those not trapped by System Troy so that way AFO won’t give specific orders to the targeted leaders to go after Aoyama as an example. (Ideally) Those brought to the Provisional License exam field are more going to be as many miscellaneous villains as they can get to go after most of the kids in Class A and B with no specialized roles. I trust they can face jailbreakers and liberation goons even when they are as strong as pros. But the kids posted here were in ROUGH shape against the highest villains. And there’s squads for keeping Kurogiri and Machia off the board because either is a HUGE problem. And I think the teams are also specialized for doing what they can to stop or stall them out if they ARE awakened. There’s a Plan A, B, and C for every field and while they target specific villains and the Nomu getting separated since together they killed 25% of the Nation’s heroes, they don’t know what quirks the Nomu have, and it’s a HUGE dice roll what villains are trapped with the targets. And who shows up to possibly free Machia and Kurogiri. Since there’s no warps to Machia and Kurogiri, that means the villains decide who is brought and organized. I estimate that 1/3 of the heroes in the country remain. Let’s say 10% couldn’t escape the AFS decay and Machia’s canyon, and then their forces were cut in half from mass resignations like Yorai Musha and Death Arms, and also just people being taken completely out of commission and unable to recover like Gran Torino. So even with more specifically designed battle plans, they lack a lot of the numbers to get this to go well. God forbid the villains do something unexpected and try to free the 100,000 trained villains in the Liberation or the villains Deku defeated like Muscular. Compress, Geten, Trumpet, Redestro, and others like the 8 bullets of the Hassaikai would absolutely be a problem in a free for all. Kurono, Nemoto, the life force mammoth man, Mimic, the guy who gets people drunk, Rappa would be a wild card at BEST happy to fight literally ANYONE, the Shield guy and those 3 Suneater battled, ESPECIALLY the larceny guy would all be problems. The guy I’m most worried about from S4 is the guy who shoots bushes. (They don’t do this at all but think about just how many of those previous villains in these chosen free for alls would just be able to END things if they showed up unexpectedly.) Seeing AFS starting his growth is so horrifyingly distracting as one of the freakiest things to appear on screen in this show and BOY are there some doozies, I can barely bring myself to note Mirko having a container of spare prosthetics because the heroes realized she would lose her arms and legs AGAIN and keep fighting with no relenting, and for all we know may have ALSO been for Deku if he decided to just start a 100% OFA onslaught like last time he fought AFS. I am barely noticing Bakugo starting a fight with Mirko proving that similar personalities don’t always and in fact RARELY mesh well as he gives me full on Elmer Fudd vibes going after the “Bunny Wabbit” Best Jeanist trying to get them on a leash decides to pull actual rank on them and demanding a “Yes, sir!” (And these two are just BUILT to follow military rank orders) All while he makes note that there will DEFINITELY be no Deku present during this fight for a while, but says “So what if we don’t have OFA? We can still defeat this villain!” (Suneater being fittingly optimistic with all of Plan A, B, and C being off the table with no Deku) And I know Deku isn’t PRESENT, but did you HAVE to add all those extra syllables to identify Deku as nothing but his quirk after an ENTIRE ARC showing us just how much Izuku Midoriya matters as a person and human being? Best Jeanist REALLY doesn’t seem to respect Deku too much. And I just can’t wrap my head around it as much as AFS can wrap his arm around the entire battle arena. We are two minutes in, and everything is a MESS on the biggest battle of them all. And something I think will go unnoticed is that while Bakugo is DEFINITELY concerned for Deku not being present, I think the most concerned is Mandalay. Who DEFINITELY has the greatest appreciation for Deku with everything he’s done to turn Kota around for heroes. She opened up to him in season 3 and he took that to one of his biggest rescue moments in the show. I’ll leave the Toga and Dabi because this episode just WILL NOT stop.

Thx for giving a solid reason as to why Iida was sent to Dabi's location, as I could think of why he was there till THAT moment later. I REALLY wish Rappa had come back to help the heroes in this fight, as it works for multiple reasons. A) He's a pretty neutral character, a real bull in a China shop, so he'd have no qualms fighting whomever's in front of him. B) Dunno of you were aware of this, but according to the Vigilantes spinoff, Rappa and Mirko actually have history. I could 100% picture them working well together (if Horikoshi had recreated the Arnie-Carl "son of a b**** handshake from Predator with these two, I would lose my effing mind." Horikoshi really goes hard with the body horror for Shigiraki, and this ain't even all there is this season. 😨

I do have to be honest thinking that bakugo charges in without a plan at this stage is wierd from you guys, bakugo might be hot headed but he never actually goes without thinking since the beginning we can see that he doesnt like to do the same that midoriya does but he is very strategical and uses his quirk with a lot of proficiency, while mirko in the other hand doesnt care that she gets shreded, not saying she doesnt go ahead and tries to not selfdestruct each time but she is far more reckles than any other hero (I am kind of surprised she was scarless when we met her first to be honest beign on the top 10 and all)

Also, the hinting that there's more to dabi's story was such a great cliffhanger. btw, when the manga came out with this chapter because no one could hear the narration about deku still "being a damn nerd" EVERYONE thought it was bakugou narrating because he's the only one who calls deku a damn nerd and everyone was freaking out over it. but then the anime happened... and honestly it was a let down that it was present mic because it felt so OOC for a teacher to call one of their students a "damn nerd". like when has present mic ever said that lmao, it sounds super insulting and something bakugou would say as a low blow insult.

Alright there’s just so many battles and happening I had to split several parts just from the sheer amount of battles going on. I’ll cover Toga and Dabi here. (I cover the hero organization plus the AFS field, and one other separate for the abomination that is the AFS body.) Alright so we are introduced to Gang Orca’s aquarium at Okuto Island. Home of beautiful beaches, crystal clear water (for the ocean I guess) and the piece de resistance. A Nomu crumbling it’s body into shards and causing massive waves, a cannibal finally getting to let loose freely, a group of jailbreakers that are on average stronger than the liberation who were ALREADY all as strong as pros, and Toga for good measure. That is a LOT to keep track of in a LOT of open environment changing WAY too fast who your opponent is decided to be. The waves alone are double the height of the people there and Moonfish can kill pretty much everyone with the right placed wave serving as a blinder. Turns out a field designed for one knife wielder can be PRETTY disadvantageous with the right backup. And Toga is just UNEXPLAINABLY strong now. I seriously can’t believe she’s strong enough to pull max control Deku through a portal against his will. She has to be JACKED. How do I know Deku was at max control? He made a never before seen shockwave on the ground triggering OFA and was going to be trying to push the AFS Troy cage into the warp. He had ZERO reason to be holding back at that particular moment. So she’s probably a SIZABLE fraction of his current stockpile level power and speed to do that. Not EQUAL but not too far off either. (Let’s say 60%) Which also speaks volumes of where Tsu and Uraraka sit. (Likely also around 50% current Deku’s power) You can tell how strong Deku and Toga are on this field as they are the ONLY ones not actually getting pushed around by the large ocean waves. (But Deku DOES have to dodge the Nomu doubtlessly) Toga wanted Izuku here for one very specific purpose. And Deku and Shinomori just sit there BAFFLED by her being a walking contradiction to not trigger danger sense so they decide to hear her out. Forget AFO’s plan to steal OFA, she wants her smoke show teddy bear man to go…out with her? Bleed out with her? For her? We have options and she is FREAKING DEKU OUT and I see Uraraka snapping to attention hearing Toga just….going for this talk right here and now. Another way to interpret Deku’s face seeing Toga confess to him might be because he’s stunned to silence that Present Mic has decided NOW we need to remember Deku is the 9th wielder fated to fight to the finish with AFO. Let me just scroll through some anime speeches and see if I can translate better. Present Mic: Make your jokes while you can Deku, for I can now see the peak of people’s memory retention. While I’m only beginning to tap into mine to remind you. Deku: I feel like we’ve been here before, have we been here before? Present Mic: For One For All is a crystallized manifestation of power. Deku: Oh my god this IS happening again. Present Mic: You see Deku, you aren’t dealing with the average Saiyan warrior anymore. For I have just been informed that you are a ____ nerd! Deku: Ohhhhhhh myyyyy goooood. (Side Note: I can’t STAND people comparing MHA to DBZ most of the time because the comparisons rarely match at all. But this narration was so DBZ it hurt, and it looks like it’s brought to you by Bakugo who either gave this to Mic in season 3 RIGHT AFTER he learned what OFA was and told Mic not to read it til now, or after all that great stuff to strive to be better, wanted a few more slights to come from NOT his mouth but DEFINITELY recorded BY him to be assumed IMMEDIATELY to be his doing. This was WEIRD we had 4 recap episodes before the this season started and the time used for…ANYTHING else would’ve been appreciated) Deku PANICS and then VERBATIM describes the school festival in season 4 and the mass majority of things he spent the day with Uraraka doing while he wasn’t on his Eri shifts while he switched in and out with Mirio to keep her 1st smile going. The hand holding sounds like something both Izuku AND Ochako considered based on Ochako’s face. Toga tells him her definition of what her dream relationship is, and Uraraka IMMEDIATELY recognizes the same “test” Toga asked her about. And while Deku DEFINITELY has a bit more of an edge in this conversation than most as an experienced empath, we find the BIG thing Empaths can’t do. Without a path in experience with emotions, our ability stops applying and Deku has NO EXPERIENCE here at all. And like Uraraka, Deku accidentally breaks her heart even if he does properly latch onto a few of her emotions. Losing his one chance to connect with her and communicate. Toga is DONE trying to find her “pets” and is out for blood without her “affection.” No one is safe anymore with these conversations concluded. (Uraraka tackling Toga into the ocean fog was AWESOME) And with Uraraka injured…Deku is forced to leave the field so Tsu and Uraraka can finish things up and so neither Uraraka and Deku don’t get anymore rattled by their suppressed feelings. Deku triggers Faux 100 in just 3 kicks at Mach 22.5, which if he maintains that speed would cross the ocean in just 25 seconds if it weren’t for a few pesky aerodynamic rules in the way of OFA being full flight…and it only gets him a short distance that fast. So now he’s at the glove 20% at Mach 4.5 for the glove propulsion which give him MINIMAL distance. He’s looking at several minutes out here when the timing of a BLINK could decide if he sees the people at the sky base ever again. And he’s growing desperate. So the 2nd checks in and says are you planning on breaking your legs to get there faster? Noooo. What about my quirk? Yesss. Neat. Those are EQUALLY dumb choices. The 2nd quirk is a final gambit quirk. So DON’T do that. And with Dabi? He’s just setting the city ablaze as he watches his Nomu upset Endeavor couldn’t be here to watch person after person drop from the heat. So all he has left is to tell the story of Dabi as he begins a LONG descent as the heroes just can only watch him instead of getting close with this fire making the surface of a blue sun on earth. And that story has to await for next time.

Toga has new support items leftover from detnerat. Her blood syringes have propulsion on them and seem to be functioning like Erasers capture scarf. Combined with the fact deku was midair and caught off guard, makes sense how she was able to pull him in

@ you know it never really occurred to me she would have leftover equipment from Detnerat. That perfectly checks out. I assumed AFO made that. (And I am now realizing Creation is actually a huge quirk for AFS with the lipids situation combined with his growth. That’s actually a HUGE combination. As for Deku getting pulled in, we both know Deku can vault even off the air itself and he even shows it this episode too. It’s not exclusive to Fa Jin. So Deku getting pulled that much with no response just tells me Toga is just crazy strong. And Bakugo and Uraraka have ballparked each other if not been in stalemate for seasons so Toga being inbetween a Bakugo level and Deku’s does check. We just take for granted how strong the kids are to be able to keep up with Deku with JUST stockpile.

So I think that this is just such a big topic that it has to be covered separate from the rest of the episode. What the FLYING FUDGE is happening with AFS’s “BODY?!” (Episode Analysis separate) Ok so here’s what we know. When AFS fought SaS, he had a strange growth occur the more he delved into the hatred at his house which is the core of ALL of this. AFO intended to use these feelings as a power source emotion he lacked which can boost his willpower to obtain OFA overriding the will of the NINE wielders. (Get it right Best Jeanist. PLEASE for Izuku’s sake) Everything is derived from the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory that Garaki wrote out. Quirks every passing generation gain in power but also get that much more uncontrollable. The quirk recoils we see in the show were not present for the early years of quirks but started getting more clear over time. But human bodies have no issues using any part of their body without disability conditions. And quirks are ENHANCEMENTS to the body if anything. You should have as much control over your own body as your quirk. Olympic athletes to couch potatoes should have a proportionate ability over themselves. You don’t use your quirk if you’re out of shape, you should still be able to use it even if you exhaust quickly. No one should have a unique recoil for exhaustion other than exhaustion itself. No exploding sweat glands, no immense body overheat, no vertigo, and of course no shaving skin layers, bone layers, muscle layers, to the point of launching your arm clean off. Garaki’s theory isn’t just a warning but a plan to get past it. The body’s endurance and strength has to share the spectrum of the power. Just like any powerlifter, or any type of athlete. You sculpt your body how you choose and there are body builders that make their muscles pretty but lack the power to fully utilize themselves. (In my opinion I always find them off putting) Comparatively body builders are people that can be very artsy with their quirks but lack endurance and power. Exertion proportionate for the body. If his patient were Endeavor, he would enhance Endeavor’s body to always be completely fireproof/heatproof to everything he can physically output. If he can’t get hotter or burn long he has to train more for that. No recoil included but what the body can do. And that leads us to AFS. The patient is an All For One wielder. A quirk that can do anything, has no upper limit on how many quirks it can hold. And is designed to surpass every single aspect of the quirk recoil AFO has. And that’s where things need to get REALLY creative. Because you are accounting for not just every quirk AFO has, but every quirk he WILL have separate AND combined. Which for all intents and purposes is EVERY QUIRK ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET. He can max out every quirk freely, combine freely, and is meant for every single condition possibly imaginable. (aside natural human body weaknesses like electricity albeit stronger shocks) But because AFO is constantly changing what it’s doing on any given moment and switching out so much, having your body naturally adapting to that is going to be BIZARRE. A quirk that can adapt and expand indefinitely has a body that does the same thing. AFS not being able to do this in season 6 is because of the premature awakening. I think AFS was always going to look the way he looks today with the long hair and growth. I noticed recently Garaki had a MASSIVE activation chamber for AFS in the deepest depths of the laboratory while all the Nomu had one designed for size of their bodies. It was for this growth that I imagine was not going to start until his body more or less 100% stabilized. There’s a few weird things about this growth. Because this is NOT a quirk, there’s no counterbalance. He’s literally just making matter from nothing. It has weight, albeit more fragile than his main body. And has force. It can be stood on, and “swung” so there’s muscles in there. And while likely not much, there’s bone and nerves in there too. It happens on command and reflex. I imagine walking on it is like walking on a water bed. So that’s disgusting. And this show has a pretty clear idea of counterbalances so there has to be SOMETHING. So I looked for some possibilities and came up with 2. Either it is his lifespan getting shortened as he does it because the only way to grow and heal like that is with time and a lot of it. So siphoning time. But THAT doesn’t track the way of AFO, so the next option is vestiges. Just because a vestige is erased doesn’t mean they are not present, so…these fingers being of all the MILLIONS of people within the beast checks out. It’s solidified spirits essentially. And I’m pretty sure this is why the 4 months actually mattered more here to get this effect. The vestiges needed to be a full presence to occur. So unless AFO was a FULL FACTOR in Shigaraki, the extra bodies within AFS couldn’t be summoned. Still weird but hey the logic is THERE. AFO is more than a quirk now. It’s a creature. Every last bit of this is because WITH quirks he can reinforce himself however he wants with no issue. So that means combining quirks is actually REALLY painful for AFO and especially now that he’s on life support. And his best move we’ve ever seen from AFO is actually only in an OVA where Nana has Gran Torino grab All-Might and run as Nana goes to face AFO who is literally standing on an entire LANDSCAPE of combined quirks as far as the eye can see. This growth is SPECIFICALLY so THAT comes as “natural” to him. Apparently AFO has somehow been feeling CRAMPED. And the feelings of hatred is meant to get past the ACTUAL function of AFO not the quirk stockpile. Right now I’m pretty sure there’s two possibilities. 1 is he is like Overhaul’s disassembly and reassembly, and AFO can only give quirks with one hand and take with the other, OR he’s like how I predicted Shoto would be like or Ochako’s gravity rules and can decide which hand does what with chosen moderations. In AFO’s case he is dictating the speed of taking the quirk with New Order being an exception because SaS’ vestige was ENORMOUS for some reason. And when it comes to GIVING quirks he’s deciding if he’s just adding an additional quirk or fusing them together to make a new quirk. I think AFO’s limitation is he can only steal either 1 or 2 quirks at the same time, and fusion quirks might be ESPECIALLY difficult for him. (By the time AFO realized what OFA ACTUALLY was, likely with the 2nd wielder, it was already 3 quirks and out of his reach.) AFS is supposed to get the ENTIRE thing. Now that being said, we have arrived at one of THE most vital points about this body. And in EVERY story that a monster awakens like this, there is always, ALWAYS a critical oversight. Somewhere somehow, there is something Garaki DID NOT calculate properly. I said this when I made the original AFS profile in season 6, but Garaki told us AFS is not as strong as All-Might in his prime, and proceeded to show us All-Might fighting the USJ Nomu, and Endeavor fighting Hood the High End. And due to how Endeavor has battled both the Nomu and AFS, AND how Endeavor can’t tell the difference between Injured All-Might and Prime All-Might, AND Aizawa calling him the perfect Nomu, Garaki has made the High Ends and AFS scale to Injured All-Might. And what Garaki has not measured is OFA itself. How could he? So long as he is not a proven witness of the prime fight 7 years ago, then he has never ONCE seen All-Might truly unleash his maximum capabilities. And has only seen him holding back to not use hundreds of times over lethal force, or with a hole in his gut so massive it plummeted his power availability and would ABSOLUTELY impact his abilities to run, jump, fight, and so on. All-Might is THAT ludicrous that people INCLUDING Endeavor, INCLUDING SaS STILL couldn’t tell anything was wrong for 7 freaking years with only a 3 hour active time limit and eventually only 1 hour! NO ONE noticed til the day he retired. AFO on the other hand KNEW. He timed him slower down to the exact second of his arrival in season 3, he was telling Shigaraki AND Garaki in Season 1 that he was DEFINITELY weaker, and Garaki used the bar where All-Might announced he was at 1/60th. And we don’t even need to EYEBALL it because all we need to do is LOOK AT AFO. He once knocked his FACE OFF forcing him into hiding for 7 years, and the United States of Smash crater was literally nothing more than a bruise on AFO’s cheek that had him out for no more than a few MINUTES. So long as Garaki and AFO disagree on how seriously to take All-Might’s OFA, then AFS did NOT fulfill the assignment of being near Prime All-Might without quirks. Garaki’s goal was to make AFO as MALLEABLE as possible. Which doesn’t sit well combining the order to just match 200 year old OFA with 4 months of drugs. Making him on par but lesser to Hood and the USJ Nomu IS possible but we also know he couldn’t have gone further without breaking the mind of AFS. And AFO gains a LOT in lying what his true power is with AFS and letting the heroes see his assignment as completed. (And allowing others to assume something they can’t POSSIBLY confirm. AND SaS being unable to say she damaged the AFS vestige) If Deku mistakes where he stands while he is currently beneath Endeavor in power, then Deku could SEVERELY mess up his circumstance and hand AFS a fight that COULD BE a 50/50 but is not at all weighed that way at the moment. And I’ll again state that the ONLY two characters that actually benefit from the assignment being completed and AFS being as strong as Prime All-Might without quirks is Endeavor and Bakugo. THATS IT. (So very convenient beloved characters) Not Deku, not All-Might, not AFO, not AFS. The people that ACTUALLY matter in this conflict. So be wary on this subject.

One of the problems I have with this latest season is that they rely too much on Present Mic's narration. Before this, he was used sparingly, giving explanations for character's Quirk in a way that felt organic. But now he's saying stuff either fans already know, or explaining something as it occurs on screen. Like, what's even the point of his bit when Toga says she loves Deku?

I'm not one to dookie on a dub of a show and MHA had a very good dub for 4 seasons but these episodes don't hit at all in English. The translations feel a little too clunky. The voice choices from earlier seasons don't fit how most of the characters grow into. The Japanese performances are award worthy this season so it's hard to compare but still.
