Why? Because Angus markets and advertise better?
@seller5594 жыл бұрын
Zach Henrichs First off Im making a joke here. But since you asked, Hereford was the big deal back then. I’m 53. I remember Black Angus coming on the scene. Mean little cows, very spirited. Small like the Hereford. I watched the angus brand market themselves for the next thirty years. Relentless. It’s worked out well for them. Does this mean they are the best cow or bull...no. Does this mean they are one of the best marketed products of all time...oh yeah. Unstoppable. The average Joe on the street knows Black Angus. Ask him about Simmental, Devon or Hereford , never heard of them. I started with Hereford, went to angus , then back to Hereford.

@@AngusAssoc I haven't started much yet other than getting close to getting a good property. Still scouting, $aving and learning before I pull the trigger. I'm nervous about drought. Don't want to get in over my head. Water and being sure the area isn't hostile. It might be in my head but I get the sense it's a bit desperate this far out n I'm not ready for grazing competition since I'm new to these parts. Probably just make a few more contacts with successful ranchers and God willing it will happen. I can't afford to spend all my money and then get screwed by a wildfire or some huge expense. My dream is to have a place in Modoc county for summer grazing next to a huge national forest not far from Oregon then one day if I'm lucky a winter place just out side red bluff. Cant believe how cheap land is if u look but still cautious cus I don't have help. Thanks for responding! Im so happy I know at least a sustainable way to live 🤠

When i was a young lad Two old cattlemen where setting on the deadpecker bench arguing about which was better a horned Hereford or Aberdeen angus. Another cattleman who had black baldy cows and charloas Bull Remarked there aint no difference both calves will weigh 300 pound by the end of summer but the Hereford will have Pinkeye. I had 1/2 dairy cows and used a Simmental bull. My calves weighed 650 pounds at weaning and I never creep feed. Its a lie that angus is better beef. If I cooked several kinds in the same manner you couldnt tell the difference. The feed that is used to finish is more to determine the meat quality than the breed of cattle.

That precision chute us made right here in my county by a friend and his family that I attended school with. It is the very best cattle handling equipment in our country. It's locally made by local farmers and ranchers in my county and I'm proud to see it in this video.
