Wow, what a treasure, I loved this video, Born and reared in Deanrock Estate, married a Togher girl and living in Canada. It was great to show this to my Kids and explain all the old haunts, so many memories of growing up in Togher, going to Togher school and then onto Tramore Road. A fantastic place to grow up, Many a bazzer I got from Sandra Dalton or Joe across in the fivestar, chips and a pie from Tom's place with a video from CTV or a few gallons of petrol in Sean Hanley's place. Thanks for posting.

Cheers Eamon, I was wondering if by any chance you used a book called "Togher, A History"? My dad was Tom O'Keeffe and he wrote two history books on Togher. He would have loved to have had some of these photos on here. This was well put together lad! Thanks for posting.

Fond memories lived in Togher from 1966 to 1984 my first class was at the original boys school (Hen House) then across to the old girls school teacher Mrs Lucey,then Mrs Murphy,crossed the road again to the prefab behind the Hen House taught by Mrs Quinn from Earlwood then to the New boys school such excitement taught by Mr O'Brien,Mr Pardi and Mr Burns.Collecting frog spawn in the bog and walking with your pals up the African Missions or Snotty bridge,made my confirmation in the new church,my sister took ceili dancing lessons in the cottage next to the old girls school and in the adjacent cottage the woman who lived there I think her name was Mrs O'Brien always had the top half of the front door open and would greet you with a lovely smile when you were getting off the bus.Flor Dullea (Mrs Murphys brother) was the principal and he drove a maroon Ford Zephyr which was akin to a Cadillac at the time that might be it at 6:19.I left Ireland in 1984 but its great to see this film I also saw a trip to Dublin Zoo and Kilmainham Jail on the Togher BNS archives that I had totally forgotten about.Thanks again.

I grew up in Togher. All those kids from the photos in the sixties, I wonder who they are. Are they still alive. What stories do they have to tell.

It's a long shot that you'll reply to this given you posted 7 years ago (you probably won't even get a notification?) But yeah, I used live by the Five Star - on Hazel Rd., over by the (ahem) 'mountain'. Are you the same Paul Daly (as I would've known you) used to live in the end house, by the passageway? Your da was a butcher. My da (Jerry) worked on the railway, then in the College as a security man. My mam and your mam once caused quite a headache for the Lord Mayor, burst into his offices- you and me would only have been very small then but news footage exists of K____ and Doris outside the City Hall looking as '70's as any two ladies possibly could. (Pól replies 'Naw boy, You've got the wrong fella!' 😬 lol). Yeah, we moved in '79, Doris was from the country so she never really took to Togher. We only went as far as White's Cross but I felt like becoming 'a Culchie' was a fate worse than death. Ironically, I now live in Dublin where they think the Culchies start at the Red Cow Roundabout and they think Cork people live in haystacks or something!

Where is togher?
@richiehoyt84872 жыл бұрын
On the off - chance that you're not being sarcastic, it's a suburb× of Cork, in Ireland, on the South side of the city, much of it council housing built in the early 1970's, but with a lot of middle class housing also. Not far from the airport. ×'Suburb'... in the European sense of the word moreso than how it is understood in America.
