If someone can play street fighter, modern control can be deadly. I look forward to seeing more professional players who try this mode. Of course, the character has a limited list of moves and deals 20% less damage, but the speed of reaction to what's happening on the screen, and fewer mistakes compensate for this.

Been trying out Modern Luke for for a bit and I got to say, Luke really doesn’t lose anything expect for a normal or two & 20% damage. They built Luke w/ Modern controls in mind, I’m just surprised that Tokido is using this to his advantage & that the pros aren’t exploring this. The only other character I think that kind of benefits from Modern might be Ryu & one or two others (haven’t really checked). At the end of the day, fundamentals & better execution what wins u games in the end. I wonder if Rashid or any other future DLC characters might built w/ both & make sf6 more complex & diverse.

and since OP mentioned DLC characters who might get really far with Modern controls, a certain Psycho Power boxer comes to mind. I bet he'll have both neutral and single-direction + two buttons for specials and three buttons for ODs, along with down -> down + any button for faux V-Skills like Ryu, Jamie, Honda, etc. and all those will be his Special button moves in Modern style (although Flicker could end up as Ed's only quarter-circle move since all the other mash input moves got changed to that). I haven't played Honda in Modern so idk if he has his clap included in the Special button list, seems like a manual-only sort of move. Reducing the one-button inputs for Ed by 20% just for using Modern when the inputs are almost the same seems excessive though, maybe they'll adjust it just for him if they don't heavily rework his moves and command inputs.

@@roxx1357 interesting when you look at the control schemes for Luke on modern and classic the flash knuckle are two completely different moves. In classic it’s like an actual uppercut and in modern it’s a charged punch

@Reehad Miah there are three versions of flash knuckle, light (the uppercut), medium (the shorter charged punch), and heavy (the one where he winds way back with the punch). You can only use the medium version with modern inputs, but you can still use the other two with classic inputs

I know, right? In exchange for a simpler control scheme and one-button supers, your supers do 20% less damage unless you do the classic inputs (which is a smart move by Capcom since it encourages learning at least some of the classic inputs) and characters don't have their full toolkit. Some characters benefit from Modern and some are worse on Modern. All in all, it's fair. People don't win just because they play on Modern. They win if they generally have better skill and a solid grasp of the fundamentals. The pros and high-level players know this.

I respect tokido has a professionnal player, he's amazing, but I don't respect him for the other things. He pick every time the highest top tier character, he have no personnality to me and don't enjoy the game he just want to win no matter what, and he clearly proove my words actually, he take Luke on Modern control, the best character with the best option and reaction. I don't like modern control, what is the point to take that except on the beginning of the game ? What is the point to take that ? What make it impressive in fighting games competitively is all the mastering of the character the player had, and reaction to certain situations because WE KNOW how hard it is to react with a super in a split second for exemple. It's not impressive at all to see a modern player do a reaction on that because you just need to press 1 or 2 buttons, or just do a perfect combo with no margin of error. It's a cool type of control for beginning but not for competitive play or ranked. For me they have two solutions : -they nerf it and players will abandon it to return to classic -it's banned on competitive play and ranked so everyone understand that this is only for fun and beginners. Why do they want to ban certains type of controllers when modern controls do this 10 time better with no margin of error ? That doesn't make any sense
