That 14th touch was nuts because Foconi saw the shoulder hit coming, made the correct counterattack in response, and still got hit. That would’ve working on 99.9% of fencers. But not Cheung. Dude is nuts
@Dancingtuna3 жыл бұрын
Foconi was too late. If you pause at the moment when Cheung's mask light goes off, you can see that Foconi's shoulder didn't change height by that much

You have to feel bad for Foconi, that is rough Cheung's fencing was so nice
@Dancingtuna3 жыл бұрын
Foconi really looked off his game. Mental pressure of the Olympics might have got to him. It looked like he wasn't willing to commit to anything and was just reacting to what Cheung was doing. I want to say that Foconi should do a lot better if he was mentally with it but the last time they fenced it was really one-sided too. So I donno, Cheung might just have a better understanding of Foconi's fencing than a lot of fencers

How Cheung gets those hits on the flank. I would love to learn and be able to do that. Is such a brutal was to score.

It's a leftie classic. The trick is to have a slight bend your elbow when doing it
@dudeofvalor92943 жыл бұрын
@@Dancingtuna is it bent throughout the entire action? If so I imagine it is with your feet that lets you help out the point on? Thanks
@Dancingtuna3 жыл бұрын
@@dudeofvalor9294 Honestly it's kinda hard to explain without showing it in person. Race does a good job of explaining it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rarQqWehlsaaos0 This was how my coach taught me to flick too. When you're flicking against someone different handed to you, it's a little different because of physiology and angle of en guard, so the best way is to use trial and error by asking a friend or your coach to let you flick them for a bit in practice and keep working at it
@dudeofvalor92943 жыл бұрын
@@Dancingtuna ah. Didn’t realise they were flicking when pushing forward and hitting on the flank. Unless of course it is the same principle (hand ahead of where the tip will land). Do have a fencing lesson tomorrow so will do a few drills and or with my training dummy. Many thanks for the advice.
@Dancingtuna3 жыл бұрын
@@dudeofvalor9294 I might have misunderstood which hits you meant, because hits on the flank can be either flick or normal hits. Usually when lefties hit flank at close range, flicking is a pretty good option. But if it's just normal thrusts to flank then it's just getting the angle right and tip placement. Good luck with the training!

f was not able to bring enough intensity. their game pace are similar, actually ch even brought up higher pace than f. f's trademark, strong blade work, didn't show up,while c was doing more blade work than f(in this clip). to sum up, c presented longer reach, more intense move and more active bladework, thus win the game with big score. and another Russian guy was able to bring up more intensity thus hit c with 14 to 9.
