5:30 When pronouncing Romanized Korean, "eo" is pronounced "uh". So, "Hanseong" is pronounced "han-sung". Also, "u" is pronounced "oo". So, if you want to sound like a native Korean you can pronounced "Seoul" as "suh-ool" (2 syllables) rather than "sole" (1 syllable).

-Living in both cities here's some practical differences living in them: Tokyo - Pretty quite at night - Really clean in general, one of the cleanest city that I visited - Many things are detailed, small and cozy, like living, food, designs - Get your real money, many shops do not accept credit cards - People are polite, but it might be quite hard to make close friends with Japanese. Kind of distant - Many paperworks are still analog like using fax or sending letter by post. It is changing with Covid though Seoul - Noisy at night as there are many drunks and cars moving, loudest night city - Fun things to do at night even if you don't drink, many 24 hours facilities like Lan house(PC-bang), Karaoke(No-re-bang), Spa with dry sauna (Jjim-jil-bang) - Many process are digital, from online paperworks, paying with cards or apps - Incredible delivery system. They are fast, cheap and safe (if you drop it at door, nobody will pick up) and you can buy pretty much anything - Drinking can make you fast friends. Most popular drink Soju (liquor of 20%) is really cheap ($3 a bottle) and it is common to go out to drink with friends or to make friends - Most are pretty impatient, which make many services fast but a bit hard to keep up sometimes. - Many car accidents, with heavy drinking culture and impatient people, you better be extra careful driving. Both cities are safe, people are well educated and hardworkers and have wonderful foods and things to do. If you like peaceful, everybody polite, cozy and clean, kind of a city, Tokyo is for you. If you like to go out and have fun with friends, make many friends, like convenient things, Seoul is for you. For me, I would prefer to travel to Tokyo and live in Seoul

I visited both cities last summer. I’ve got to say that Koreans are extremely friendly, and made me feel home from day one. I enjoyed my time in Seoul like in no other city. Tokyo was a bit different; coming from a mega city myself, I expected Tokyo to be loud and chaotic, and was shocked when I found out it wasn’t any of that AT ALL. Still, the city itself is awesome, it carries the perfect combination of development, technology and culture. I’d recommend anyone to visit both cities. Love to 🇯🇵 and 🇰🇷 from 🇲🇽

Tokyo has a unique aesthetic and we cannot ignorate that is very well organised,there are around 40million people in Kanto region and the megalopolis of Tokyo/Yokohama/Saitama/Chiba/Yokosuka is so perfect and liveble and clean,organised and rich.there is no comparison..Tokyo is almost perfect.But I love Seoul too :)

Correction. Fifa World Cup 2002 was co-hosted by Korea and Japan. Initially, Japan became the host nation. Then Korea kicked in and said, they want to share the World Cup with Japan, because the Deputy President of FIFA was a Korean. Korea insisted to use the name, Korea and Japan, instead of vice versa, while the final match was hosted in Japan.
@supykun2 жыл бұрын
Inaccurate description. When Korea and Japan bidded for the 2002 World Cup in the early 1990's, it nearly went to Japan solely because João Havelange, the chief of FIFA back then, was a Brazilian who personally liked Japan. But others such as the AFC, and the assumed next FIFA chief in-line (Lennart Johansson) rooted for Korea as they had actual résumé in football and the World Cup in contrast to Japan at that time. When Japan got disqualified again for the 1994 World Cup whereas South Korea entered their 4th World Cup the general jist on who should host the next World Cup swayed to Korea which Japan quickly pleaded for co-hosting. Back-then AFC chief Peter Velappan came to Korea asking for the same offer as well to ease tensions between the two countries. Korea accepted as they didn't want to risk Havelange's decision-making.

Actually Seoul got its name from an ancient name referring to Silla(신라), which was Seo-na-beol(서나벌), which was later shortened to just "Seo-beol"(서벌). Then after South Korea was established, they chose a variant of that ancient name, "Seo-ul"(서울), as the name for their capital. The name itself doesn't mean "the capital" in Korean. Hey hey hey. As a Japanese, Japanese and Koreans should stop fighting in the comment section. We can all agree that his pronunciation is the thing the fight about. 😂😂😂

Lived in Seoul for a year and loved it. Too damn close to North Korea for my liking (only 35 miles from the NK border) but you'll never know it living in Seoul. Tokyo does have Godzilla though so maybe that's the trade off...lol. I'll take Seoul!!!

The other way around i think. Gaming became an integral part of Korean culture, and thus created a need for a faster nation wide internet.

I've traveled many countries in the world and these two cities are for sure one of top 5 exiting cities. You have to visit before you turn 35 when you still have energy left for partying.

Lol you seem to know a lot about japanese history and tokyo, yet your knowledge of korean history and seoul seems to be a bit shallow and the “facts ” addressed in this video seems partial especially its kinda hilarious that you literally just skipped a lot of the changes that has occurred during the colonial era
