japanese really knows how to take care of their cars. Their cars are older but most of them are in great condition. They certainly have pride in the ownership.

There was like a thing. I don't know what it is but owning something like a TV or whatever needs to be taken care for at least 3 years then after 3 years, you need to throw it away. I think this also happens on vehicles as well. I am not sure but not all Japanese people seem to follow them a lot (I don't really know though. If you're Japanese, please let me know if it's true).
