yutaka yamada understood tokyo ghoul better than any other member of the staff. I hope a new adaptation does the manga justice, but I want the composer to stay the same.

this is the peak of kaneki's torment. after years of suffering, torture, loss, pain, and agony, kaneki sees the only thing that matters to him in life anymore about to be killed. after the loss of his precious hide, all of the friends he made along the way dead, turned against him, or no longer the people he once knew, his beloved touka chan is right about to die in front of his eyes. and with the a final decision for his entire future, he severs the weakness he has always been. the weakness that kept him from protecting the ones he loved. the weakness that got him tortured and stepped on for so many years. after all that time of just taking and taking and taking everything, kaneki puts his foot down, and he puts that shit down hard. he says he will press forward no. matter. what. and with this, all of that power he gained over those years. that power to protect, to be strong, to be the hero everyone needed, he unleashes his trueself. he unleashes his rage. he unleashes his agony. he unleashes his resolve. he unleashes everything. he casts off his past. he rips a path through the future for the life he has always wanted. he tears and pushes through this city that has confined him in his misery for so many years. he crushes it all, rampaging and ravaging through everything. he lays waste to the wretched land that has been the source of his pain his entire life. and that.... is the beauty of what we all know as the dragon; the ultimate power that nothing can even compare to. because at the end of the day, everything that kaneki went through cultivated this eruption that was bound to happen at any day, if just given the right push. that is why no other kagune, quinque, ghoul, ccg, no one can compare to the dragon. because it's a product of pain, suffering, and agony. and no one- NO ONE has suffered as much as the one we call kaneki ken, the young man that we all know and love. no one.
