only one thing comes into my head: "it may not be stylish but... LIVE."
@tylosthegwise41604 жыл бұрын
That's a really good chapter in the manga, but the one where he declares to Shu and Yomo that he's getting married to Touka makes me so happy, because he declares that he'll live for her sake and when he says this he's burnt out and tired, he wonders if he'll have to go on struggling like he has, and then he looks at Touka who is pregnant with their child, and is filled with so much joy that she's there with him in such a trying time, after all that he has been through. Those few pages makes me a little...emotional. [5/29/20]

This scene right here. The end of chapter 75 ''K's Egg''. Kaneki finally started to ''break' the egg, his world of ''wanting to die'', this is a moment when he was born anew, with the difference from all the other similar times, that now he understood that deep inside him, he wanted to LIVE. It was a desire that was born from him, not something to do necessarily for others, but for himself. To give life a chance and find something to live for. ''It may not be stylish but LIVE''. This sentence right here, means so much to me. Even if it is not ''elegant'' or ''graceful'', ''stylish'', comfortable, beautiful (although it is actually beautiful even if we don't realize at the time), and more words that could be used... Even if you have to crawl your way through, to keep moving forward. It may not be stylish, but live.

It wasn't a perfect series. Let's be perfectly fair and honest. The fan theories ended up being better than the actual story ultimately. The end didn't quite hit all the notes we had hoped for, leaving questions unaddressed let alone answered and simplifying some of the cooler story aspects. Like I remember all the crazy Hide theories that flowed through the Tokyo Ghoul community. To some he was the original One-Eyed King or at least intertwined with him. To others, he was the Washuu family's true heir. Hide is a microcosm of everything we all thought. The dreams we had for how this series would end. Ishida himself has looked back on the series and said he felt bad about how it ended. That he was just so trapped by deadlines that it zapped all creativity from the series. But you know what? Kaneki still means a lot for me. I reached adulthood at the same time as him. Watching him struggle through things I could scarcely imagine. What we've seen him do, what we saw him become. I will never not have a special place in my heart. How hard did I cry when I first saw this image? Every pen stroke shows more emotion than some series ever even get. No matter what I'm grateful that he didn't go the Lelouch route. Kaneki spent so long moving away from that mindset-that he could and should sacrifice himself for the better of others. He needed to live through the end of Tokyo Ghoul. Or at least, if we go with a tragic end, it needed to be a death that is in service of himself. A lot of his story is about not giving so much of himself that he loses himself. No matter what, I'm glad I read this series. I know it isn't the best manga ever, but it feels more mine than anything I've ever read. It helped me to come to terms with so much. Thank you, Ishida. Thank you for introducing us all to Kaneki.

Tokyo Ghoul is the only manga since I've begun getting into animes and mangas about 7 years ago that I still love dearly and it's even my favorite manga. I don't care what anyone says, it might not have had the ending we were expecting, but you know what ? I loved it, I think having a good ending for Tokyo Ghoul is not a bad thing, after all the pain, depression, losses, tears, rage through the story, the ending to me puts a band aid on my wounds, kind of aha Knowing how Sui Ishida struggled to end this series, I'm grateful it ended at all. The art, the characters, the messages, the dialogues, the complex metaphors... There are so many things I love about this series and most importantly it is the character of Ken Kaneki. He's such an interesting protagonist with layers upon layers making him feel real and not just like a 2D character. I think it's important, when reading the manga, to not underestimate TG's storytelling as just a shônen with action and blood. A great KZbinr that I love called *Sufferents* made a lot of in depth analysis of Tokyo Ghoul and multiple other series. You can develop the story so much and find hidden meanings everywhere, Sui Ishida is very skilled for a fact. whether it's intentional or not, the many many different interpretations and morales you can take from Tokyo Ghoul's manga is astonishing. Yeah, despite the outside looks, Tokyo Ghoul isn't about blood, guts and badassery more than it is about the psychology of the characters and the distinction between what is bad and good, it's a universe tainted of gray : no black and white like real life As a matter of fact, there isn't one character in the series that I *HATE* , I do *dislike* some, but I can at least understand why they became like that, why they do what they do : I don't even hate Furuta, he's a jerk and I do not condemn his actions, BUT I understand how he has become so twisted. *spoilers from last volumes of Tokyo Ghoul ;RE* His death scene when he reveals to Kaneki that all he wanted was to live a normal life had me. Damn, I wondered why I felt sad for the way he became, I felt sad because he has become so twisted he never got what he truly wanted : a normal life. I think Kaneki felt that way too, as much as he hates Furuta, he understands too. Even if he was fighting with him just few moments before and eventually killed him, he didn't just plainly hate Furuta. Actually, thinking about it, Furuta ended himself when he saw the flash of what is life could've been. I think he had understood at that moment that it was all futile, because never would he be able to have what he TRULY wanted. Wow I rambled, should stop now. Probably nobody will read until here though ahaha
@hurairariaz38673 жыл бұрын
Tokyo Ghoul surely is something close to a masterpiece it's just last arc was rushed I didn't mind the happy ending in fact I think it was the right thing to do after Kaneki suffering so much going through such experiences that he just became suicidal he had no wish to live but Touka she showed him the light she's the reason that he came to life again so that ending was perfect for me . The only thing that saddens me about Tokyo Ghoul re was that we couldn't get to know much about Hide and Amon while they were in the hiding what were they doing how Hide managed to always be at the right place at the right time whenever CCG decided to take a initiative who was filling him with such top secret info was he collaborating with Eto while he was being Scarecrow because when it comes to ghouls she knew everything about CCG about their true face and what was their motive so I think such plot holes should've been answered any way thanks to Ishida Sensei for Tg it is the 1st manga I've ever read and it willl always be the dearest to me

Struggle,keep struggle,even there's no sign of tomorrow's goodness,keep struggle. This is what i truly have done since the very beginning of the series. When i first watched Tokyo Ghoul ,Kaneki became more than of being one of my part,same goes for the Touka,and for the true love between them. But what is the great thing is i grew up while playing the games about TG and while reading the manga. But what especially hits my feelings is the one i loved so much has done the same things too. And more so she said "You really seem like Kaneki" after hearing these words from her i also felt she was the Touka. I kept thinking in this way until we both graduated. She was the daughter of my teacher. I had no courage to express my feelings to her. After some while she spoke out those beautiful words: "I've been waiting for you to express your feelings since i felt that you felt the same as i felt for you,i love you". Beautiful. This show meant everything for me. When i struggled so bad that i couldn't be my self anymore i was thinking my self as Kaneki,i knew how great will be my life after passing this situation since i had the true love. I just keep struggling even now. I dont know what made me to write this messages but... Thank you eternal much Ishida.

If i were to have one big issue with TG, it's that I wished Amon and Kaneki's dynamic was explored even more. It was honestly one of the main things that made me pick this series back after watching it when it first came out. I wanted to see how the two most open minded and altruistic of the ghoul and human world respectively would interact and come about an answer to fix their world together. I wish they had much more interaction after they met again. That one conversation around the end wasn't enough to satisfy the tension and potential of these two characters.
