If you like good jrpg battle systems and layers of visual polish it’s totally worth it. Also the battle tracks and boss themes are clean! Especially the boss themes which are more like a SMT game

As a person who finished this game, twice, on Wii U, it's worth the price. It really is that much fun. The characters are endearing. You end up rooting for them to realize their dreams by the end. I will gladly buy this for the Switch. 😊

Yubin cho I would say you would be totally fine coming into this as a beginner. I never played any Persona or Shin Megami Tensei games and I got into this game easily and totally fell in love with the gameplay. It is/was so much fun!

There may still be hope for a Switch port of P5. SMT 3 remastered is on both PlayStation and Switch, as well as P5 Strikers. Plus, Atlus has indicated that they are open to the idea of porting P5 to the Switch.

actually there is an integral aspect of Fire Emblem's gameplay in this....the weapon triangle. Also, flying enemies are weak to bow attacks just like in FE. It's just mixed in with SMT/Persona's elemental weaknesses.

I was really on the fence about whether or not I should get this game until I saw this video. Got super into the Persona and SMT series this year, and was seriously eyeing this up, but was concerned about the Fire Emblem half of this collab and avoided it for fear that I'd be left in the dark as I've never played a FE game. Glad to know that's not the case. Can't wait to get this game because it looks really fun and engaging. Thanks for helping me decide :)

My only complaint is that I wish the Wii u ports came at a slightly cheaper cost. Unless the game just packs in a decent amount of extra content (best I can think of is Hyrule warriors definitive edition with it's dlc included), I don't see why it can't got for say $40. Either way, definitely want to pick this up at some point as I enjoyed the game, but hated the need for the gamepad for the topics and whatnot.

Wil E you do not need to use the touch screen... In the original release the in-game text messages would appear on the Wii U gamepad, but obviously the Switch does not do two displays. TL;DR - you do not use a touchscreen here.

@Wil E If you're going to play a mainline entry I highly recommend getting a copy of SMT Nocturne. It's great. If not, SMTIV is pretty solid as well, and it has a pretty good followup in SMTIV Apocalypse... Alternatively you should try Strange Journey. It isn't for everyone but it's a blast. At this point I should just say "play all the games" because there are so many great SMT games.

Just bought my Switch Copy of this game. I have always been a huge fan of the Shin Megami Tensei series and always want to play this but didn’t own a Wii U. I really would love a Shin Megami Tensei Digital Devil Saga and Devil Summoner series remastered on ps4 cause those were my favorite ps2 games ever.

Not really talking about the Hot Springs DLC but really a chapter from the game. From what I've seen, the censorship is understandable in a western point of view, but at a story standpoint it chances one of the chapters in the game. Originally the photographer kidnaps one of the characters who used to be, and I'm generalizing her past profession, a lewd model, to take more lewd pictures of her for the money. You're supposed to save her and the way to distract him is to have the girl character to become said lewd model. In the western version he's a fashion photographer and you dress in baggy street fashion to distract him. The thing about this is that it not only changes the profession and story, but also changes the message. What was originally about being comfortable with your body is now about stage fright. Again it's understandable since this game is also marketed towards the west, but it also is a bit upsetting to see a whole chapter having to be re-worked drastically for it being too lewd. If anything it could have been changed from lewd model to swimsuit model as it's a lot more common and understandable in the west. Other than that the game is great gameplay wise

I will say, Atlus were the ones that handled the localisation entirely for the Wii U version and they even had their VA’s re-record lines to sound appropriate and fitting in the transliteration of the game for that chapter.

OK. I need this to be cleared up for me: in music, notes are labeled (i.e.) #F so the musician knows that the note coming up should be sharp before they look at it, but is still called "F sharp". Shouldn't it be said "F-E Sharp"?

Only in the score would the sharp be written before the note, if you write out the name it is always the note (letter) followed by the accidental (sharp or flat). So the note would only ever be written as F#, and that’s what you’d call it (F sharp). In the score it’s different because as you said the reader needs to know the note is sharpened before they play it. Hope that makes sense 😀

Some of the censorship is downright bizar, for example there js a scene with Tsubasa in a wedding dress, they felt the need to cover her arms... There is also the modification of the female character models to remove the pelvic bones, which is also unesseccary. The removal of swim suites was unescessary, other games with a T rating have them and they are even racier. There was nkthing in the original version to warrant a M rating in the US. The censorship seemed like an attempt to preemptively avoid Twitter and reddit controversy.

It's sorta strange going from Turn press system or the "one more" and baton pass system in Persona but I like the spin on the combat system stringing together sessions and combos. It is weird not being able to go again for another turn if I target an enemies weakness but the combat system is still fun and has a lot of depth nonetheless. But in all honesty, I think the combat may be too over hyped just a tad bit. If you have played Persona or SMT, it feels like nothing exceptional. It's great, very fun and rewarding but it's not the "best combat system in all of video game history" as some make it out to be. Especially with gallows execution and fusion in general in Persona. You are able to make your very own Persona with it's own handcrafted moveset. It's weird being relegated to learning skills tied to a weapon in this game but it's engaging enough for what it sets out to be and do. Overall a solid game and can stand on its own without having to be too much SMT or too much Fire Emblem

hmm maybe i'll try it out if they switched it...P5 was great game but im sure im in the unpopular opinion on this but the battle system...idk why it just wasnt that fun...to me i felt forced to look/use some weaknesses...cause of how OP they were ...and i get it almost all tbs games have a weakness system but idk i felt like i wanted a bit more freedom...im not one to play on a super high difficulty but i loved that they gave you options...and to me P5 has one if not the BEST soundtrack ever...i don't remember the last time i downloaded a soundtrack since like Golden sun lol

I recall spending weeks grinding all my characters up to no joke LEVEL 70!!! before I hit the 3rd or 4th story dungeon. the enemies who were only level 30 utterly DESTROYED my entire party in 3 battles.

This is one of my fav rpgs setting nostalgia aside I bought a Wii U for two reasons Xenoblade Chronicles X and this game. Everything about his game i love and i want a second one so god damn bad. I even bought the soundtrack for this game too I actually PERSONALY liked the music there was a few really good songs. Keep the theme of the game too i love the jpop/idol theme. Im really happy it got a Switch port I bought two copy's one to open and play and one as a collectable for me.

i beg to differ, the changes made with censorship makes some parts of the story and some dialogue make no sense at all, for example one of the boss battle one of the girls in the original puts on a swimsuit to lure and distract him, and in the censored version she SAYS she's putting the swimsuit on but then comes out in a thick hoodie with pants and a hat and the boss character acts the same way, after that one of the characters makes a comment about the swimsuit and she accepts BUT SHES STILL NOT WEARING ONE. the censorship DOES ruin this game as they didn't change the dialogue to match when i played it and even if they did some of the events would still make no sense that happen in the game cause they are wearing stuff that isn't as raunchy as intended for the dialogue produced. the censorship takes you out of the experience and i honestly originally thought my game was broken, censoring outfits like that is spitting in the face of the artists original vision, i sincerely hope they give us the option for the switch version to be uncensored maybe with dlc or an option in game as it would make dialogue in the game make more sense.

I'm usually pretty good at guessing scores based off the reviews, but I was surprised at the 8. Not that 8 is a bad score. Having played this on the Wii U, for me, it's easily a 9 or 9.5. If it had an English dub added, it would totally be a 10, I adore this game.

@@pika_dusk it's kind of a mixture between SMT DDS and strange journey but with buffs not being stackable. Instead those act as Persona (remain for 3 turns). Oh, and the fire emblem weapons are added to the attack elements.

I'm sad they went with the censored version for everyone as I was hoping they would give everyone the Japanese version when it got remade. However while I find it disappointing it is not going to change my mind on buying this game. I loved it on the WiiU and I will love it on the switch. I just wish I could have had the opportunity to see what I missed out on last time.

@@soragranda No it didn´t. It still works even without swimsuits. Spoiler I guess? It´s Tsubasas first photoshoot and she is nervous and can´t perform as well as she needs to, by the end if the chapter she learns to deal with this stuff and does a good job. In the original it´s a swimsuit shoot and censored it´s streetwear. In the end she still learns how to do photoshoots. It would have worked with the original version too but IT DOESN`T MATTER IN THE END

The censorship did change the story so it is not just the outfits. One chapter of the game was altered since it dealt with Tsubasa being a swimsuit model and that was completely changed. I am not buying this again. I got a Wii U only a year ago just for this and Xenoblade Chronicles X. They did not add enough content and did not remove the censorship so I don't think it is worth it. For those that don't have a Wii U I still suggest they get the game despite the censorship since unless you speak Japanese and have a WiiU that can play Japanese games you can't play the original version anyway.

I think I skip this game. The only reason I bought it on the Wii U, was because I got a discount through my Nintendo. I think I only have played about an hour of the game, and just have let it be. So It wasn't bad, but it was not worth the money either.
