Actually Holmes (sorry, Sholmes) basically inventing modern forensic science on the fly is entirely accurate to the character. He literally invents fingerprinting in one of Doyle's earlier stories. So the apparent anachronism doesn't really bother me as much because it's honestly not the most bonkers thing a version of this character has done, lol. (Also fingerprinting came into use around 1892 irl, so it's honestly not *that* huge a stretch)

Right cuz being able to bring a laser gun into the court room likr that old lady from the 1st games trailer er it's trilogy lol. But the new ones chronicles has a guy who brings a fkn katana into the court room lmao I think we can let realism go out the window lol. But after watching that Kyle rittenhouse trial it made me want to play thesee again lol I always got stuck in thr old game on the ds lol so idk if I'll be able to do any better now or if they improved its mechanics on the find evidence and stuff I didn't like that those parts that felt like a point n click title in disguise

I actually cried when Capcom announced that the Great Ace Attorney duology would be coming this year. The entire Ace Attorney series is something I hold near and dear to my heart, and I had nearly given up hope that we'd ever get official releases for both of these games.

I actually like that you don't need to think about fingerprints and blood results constantly. Those contradictions, while pretty decisive, are kinda boring to me, especially if you carry around like 16 blood samples. The smaller cast is something I like as well, because the smaller cast makes more memorable characters. It makes all the cases feel more important and without those "filler cases" the overarching story throughout both games shine so bright. All in all these are fantastic AAs. Especially the second game since it got this incredible continuity. At this point I would probably prefer to see more of this world 20th century world than the world with Japanofornia/Khura'in. This really are Great Ace Attorney games^-^

I am quite excited. Ace Attorney cases are so fun because they're so well conceptually conceived and fun to unravel - using more serious themes of racism to me will only heighten the experience and make it more meaningful.

Yeah, in my experience the series is always at its weakest when it delves into goofier concepts that are less grounded in realism, and it makes me really happy to hear that these two games are basically the opposite of that.

Just finished the second game. Not only an amazing game but probably the best in the entire series. It improved in pretty much every single way from the original and second trilogy, it has the best prosecutor, the best twists, the best final villain and the best cast of characters in general. Ace attorney has a lot of memorable moments but the ones that I'll remember the most are without a doubt the ones in this duology.

Finally got round to completing this game after getting it when it released. If you’re thinking about getting it, just do it! The playtime alone for me was over 100 hours which is insane and quite a big commitment, so you at least get your money’s worth! Storyline all weaves in together on the different cases and parts 1 and 2 of games, which is really great. One of my favourite games of 2021!

@@douglas9660 it's one if the best zelda games to me. It's better to get it on the wii or the wii u as it's cheaper, but the hd version allows you to play with button controls if you don't like motion controls.

Can't wait to get this, it's looking amazing! I discovered the AA series in 2019 and it's quickly become a favorite of mine. Recently I've finished all main games, having played Spirit of Justice a few weeks back, and it's been fun all the way. Now I gotta get this, the Layton crossover, and Investigations. Hopefully Capcom is also considering localizing Investigations 2? 👀

This is a 'Great' Ace Attorney game! (Ouch, that joke was payneful!) Btw, I love the idea of the cases happening in a medieval(?), feudal era! Also, the Ace Attorney triology ($30,00) and the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles ($40,00) are being sold together as a bundle for $60,00 (which saves only 10 dollars, but here where I live, it saves R$50,00, and this is even more of a great deal!)

I have zero problems with this game, but I do wish the contradictions were harder to spot. I feel like the Japanese history and culture of the game is explained in a great way to where you can completely understand. I want a third Ryunoske Naruhodo entry. The characters are much more endearing imo than the original games, but I do love the originals.

There's no need to, but I think you'll have a bit more fun if you have the chance to play the trilogy first. Just seeing the apple fall so close to the tree is a lot of fun in these games! Three is pretty different in its overall narrative approach, and 2 has a few brilliant cases. So you're in for a treat! Have fun!!

@@CaliberStone I have played the Phoenix games, plus the Apollo Justice Game. I don't recall the characters being able to listen to the protagonists inner speech the way Susato does. I can't even remember a particular part where this happened between Phoenix and Maya/ Apollo and Trucy.

I'm a little bummed the game only got translated into english. Not that I have a problem playing it in english but I played all the other games in german and loved the localization. But in the end I'm just glad we got the game outside Japan at all especially since this seems to be one of the best in the series.

In regards to the scaling of the cast, I feel it too but just roll with the charming Small cast, but I think professor Layton vs Phoenix wright handles the atmosphere the best ironically (to a point I wish that was a bonus game on here as a "trilogy" 🤣🤣🤣)

Sherlock Holmes is in the public domain, so it’s not that the developers were intending to avoid copyright but more likely that they wanted their own character with a jokey name similar enough for you to get the point of what that character is all about.

The character himself is, but some of the short stories still aren't, and the Doyle estate has a history of suing projects who portray Holmes too similarly to how he appears in those copywritten stories, which GAA would likely fall under.

@@MookyMc Because the game came out in 2015 and the character is actually named Sherlock Holmes in the original script. In Japan copyright wasn't an issue. Capcom only changed the name (And Watson's to Wilson). To avoid any kind of trouble internationally. They won't rewrite the entire character. That would affect the game as a whole.

I really think it wouldn't work if there would be other Ace Attorneys in other parts of the world. The series was since it's first game mainly japanese that the localization team screwed up with, and i don't think it would be fitting for a new game to take place in any other country other than Japan

How's the frame rate on Switch? Does it lag a lot? I've seen gameplay on PS4 and PC, it runs great on PS4, but on PC you have to mess with settings to get it looking nice, which does make me concerned how it'll be on the lower powered Switch

Yeah these games take place around a century before the mainline series so you don't have to worry about context. Also while I can't speak of the second game since I haven't played it yet, but the first Great Ace Attorney is one of my favorites in the series.

@@ronanbrooks2106 I can understand not vibing with case one (even though I really liked it) since it is on the longer side, I can also understand not vibing with case two since (even though I liked it) since if you really don't like investigation segments I can see it feeling like it drags, but I am pretty surprised by you thinking case three is bad since I thought it was amazing. While I did really like case four and five as well, we seem to have such different tastes that I can't guarantee that you'll enjoy it. But also I don't think you should worry about not liking this particular game, since long before these games were translated it was pretty common for people who knew Japanese to say that they thought the first game was kinda mediocre but that the second is amazing. As of now I've only finished the first Great Ace Attorney and can't comment on the second, but if you don't end up liking this game that much, I hope you know that you aren't alone in feeling that way.
