Wow. This place is incredible. That boxed Famicom Formula 1 cart you pick up at 16:34". Would love to have that one CIB. Have it loose, one of my favorite FC exclusives.

Man I really love your series it's so fascinating to watch you go through these small cities and find incredibly awesome Japanese games that never came to the states. The culture in Japan especially when gaming in the 80's and 90's it sure seems like the best time and place to experience that era in gaming. I really like how Japan still caters to that crowd with these chain game retail stores and even preserves the oldschool arcades and games that still attract a loyal and avid fanbase today....

17:57 oh that's GENJI and HEIKE clans, old Namcot arcade hack'n'slash! played the arcade game back on Namco Museum on OG playstation, it was an interesting one. Also pretty sure that Renovation game was El Viento? seems like they had a whole cinematic universe going on with those games between that and Earnest Evans. I also did a doubletake at Garou Densetsu 2 at 16000Y, what in the actual hell?! Kinda tempted now to pick up another fighting game for SFC, it's been fun to collect for.

That wasn't Joe Namath on the Mega Drive game, it's Joe Montana. Those games seem to be forgotten once Madden Football came on the scene. Also, Loom is a classic Lucasfilm Game where you interact with objects using short musical tunes. It's different and most collectors are more interest in Maniac Mansion or The Secret of Monkey Island from the time. Looking forward to the next installment of retro game shopping!

I thought that Parodius Portable PSP behind the glass was kind of expensive at 9,700 yen, but looking at Ebay prices, it gets worse, yikes. I bought that thing when it was new for around $40, and there are 6 songs between the games on it that got altered from the older versions due to copyright. Saw the PS1 versions of Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius and Sexy Parodius, while I have Jikkyo on everything it came out on, I don't have Sexy on PS1 (DO have it on Saturn and PSP though), Sexy on PS1 has been expensive for as far back as I can remember collecting. Amazingly at almost 7 minutes in, the Saturn Jikkyo and Sexy Parodius versions also make an appearance. Looks like Sexy on Saturn goes for more than the PS1 version there, and to me it's the one Parodius that seems equal on both systems (Saturn had the advantage for Parodius Da and Gokujo, PS1 for Jikkyo and equal for both for Sexy). I technically DO have the PS1 version of Sexy, all the Parodius games on the PSP collection, minus MSX Parodius, are the PS1 versions. the Portable packs from Konami were split between Konami and M2. The ones M2 did, Twinbee Portable and Salamander Portable, are the arcade ROMS on a UMD. Konami did Gradius Portable and Parodius Portable, and used the PS1 versions except for Gradius III and Gradius IV, which they just pulled off of the Gradius 3 and 4 PS2 pack. 12:12 No sir, that original Sailor Moon for SFC is 2 player, the Mega Drive version is the one that is 1 player only. I have both SFC beat em ups, regular and R, both are indeed multiplayer. 17:58 Not Getsu Fu Maden, that is Genpei Toumaden. Garou Densetsu 2 MD has been going up for awhile. A Japanese channel I follow here on the Tube compared it to the SFC and arcade versions, the guy said it is not as common as the SFC version, hence why it has spiked in price recently. I picked up the US version a few years back, cart only for around $20. 45:24, that is an FM Towns Marty game, a CD based Japanese PC. Has some arcade ports to it, like the first Samurai Spirits, Operation Wolf, Raiden, Splatterhouse, Bubble Bobble, and Rainbow Islands Extra to name a few (I emulate the arcade ports as there is no way in hell I can afford a Marty, or the games). Like the Sharp X68K, the games are good, but very, very pricey and not that easy to find. That R-Type 1 and 2 PCE games you found near the end of the video are both a product of Irem screwing PCE owners over. They couldn't fit the entire arcade game on one hucard, so they split the first game into two hucards, making 2 purchases of the first game a necessity. The R-Type Complete you showed seconds later is Irem's apology, the entire game is on one CD, with voice acting and arranged music. The US R-Type on TG-16, well Irem finally figured out how to squeeze the entire game onto 1 hucard, much to the chagrin of Japanese PCE owners.

20:17 on the left is Perman Part 2, one of the better and easier action game that is actually decently priced, based on a rather popular manga/anime of the 80s. There was also a prequel that is a platformer + board game hybrid, it was also worth checking out!

A sneaky single MSX 2 homebrew copy of Gauntlet in the glass case :) And a complete copy of Star Force on Beecard for MSX 1 at the bottom of the cabinet. Another sneaky MSX title hiding near the Sega stuff, Mouser is a great platform game and that copy looked in really nice condition. Very nice selection of titles all up, I would definitely hunt down some PC Engine, Famicom, and others if I got a chance to go there.

I've never heard of Surugaya but now I have another place to check out. I was already interested when I saw the boxes of games, but any places that also sells manuals and boxes is a place that I absolutely need to check out! What other places are over there? As of now I only know about the various "Offs" and Surugaya for thrifting, Tatsuya for new stuff?

@@MadPanicGaming Your videos are pure gold. X-men Vs Street Fighter EX was so incredibly bad on the PlayStation hahahaha. The crappy devs for nba jam made it where if you’re playing with the bulls, you’ll always miss the game winning shot if it’s against the pistons. Looking forward to seeing all the games you picked up.

Coming from the world of TG16/PCE collecting, seeing some Saturn games like Vampire Savior for just 710 yen just blows my mind. So cheap. Loom for the PC engine is a cool Lucas Arts point and click game.

15:15 I used to think “box collecting” was stupid, but now that I find myself wanting the old boxes to my old LEGO sets I think I just may be stupid. Whoa that Valkyrie Profile was so cheap, I only had the manual to that, I guess my sister rented it from Blockbuster and didn’t return the manual, so I’d read it over and over. The US version is hundreds of dollars, why did I look. FUCK. Wish she stole the whole game. 31:25, you can have your boobs and dong out in that game.
