Imo as an anime watcher it's not a masterpiece because of some scenes that didn't really make sense, and also the animation is not the greatest. I didn't read the manga but I would think it's way better than the anime. I still thin this show is maybe a 7 or 8 out of 10, the plot is really interesting and I'm sure it's going to be even darker so yeah, that's just my opinion.

@@beaststealth8257 holy shit is he EVER! i forget if it was ep 7, 8 or 9, but we went on a huge rant about how stupid he was. He is so dumb that we could not believe it. Genuinely, we could not believe that a 26 year old didnt have the mental capacity to deal with literal 13 year olds, let alone second guess ANYTHING that he was doing. He would try the easiest possible thing, and when that fails, he give up all hope and loses all confidence, and then is surprised when things dont turn out as planned, after spending 3 days bedridden and one night on a date with a 12 year old girl. my goodness, I don't have a problem with stupid mcs most of the time, as long as they are active characters. However when a main character is not only stupid and pathetic, but also PASSIVE. Then it gets to be too much for either of us.

Don't think too much about the story, using more than one brain cell will break the shows logic very easily XD This is like they took Erased, put in Deku or Tanjiro as the lead and made it about gangs and fighting. Unnecessary fights, but that gives them views, right? This is the cash cow right now. The usual Shounen trying to hype up fights for kids every week kinda show. Suggestions: I would much prefer if you guys later down the line watched 86 or To Your Eternity. Also for a funny show from the current season, Shinigami Bocchan is very weirdly wholesome and funny and has great voice actors! And they have nice music in the show too. It just appears to be a risque show at first, but it's very wholesome overall. It's in 3D but the animation is way better than Tokyo Revengers, imo. I won't spoil the plot, but you should definitely check it out! Also, Kanojo mo Kanojo this season has top tier voice acting! The show might be okay, but the voice acting is awesome!!

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but I have to disagree with you on this! As someone who has gotten far into the show and started to read the manga, a lot of what this anime delves into is pretty deep (ex; True brotherhood, what influences can lead a person into a life of crime, death, growth/aging, etc.). The characters are all very well written and their relationships with one another are also super refreshing! Also, I am a huge fan of Erased, but aside from the time-traveling aspect, I don't think these shows are actually that similar to one another. Tokyo Revengers is much darker and more mature, but both of them are still awesome!
@SagarGathoo
@SagarGathoo 3 жыл бұрын
@@hayleyrenshaw7605 Hey, Thank you for being kind in your argument. I will try not to be rude too! I was expecting someone to disagree with what I said. First off, I would like to know how old you are. I don't mean this badly, but depending on your answer it would be easier to understand where you're coming from. About 8-10 years ago, I would have loved this anime. Today, I would like to stick to my point that the story is okay at best. Also, if I do sound rude, I'm sorry, I am pissed off at the story, not you. I would love to get your thoughts on the matter as well. So, I would respectfully disagree, and say that the writing is seriously lacking any sort of depth. This is solely based on the Anime so far, I did not feel that intrigued by the story to go read the Manga. And yes, it's only like Erased based on him trying to go back to save a girl from his childhood. But that is literally enough to start any new Manga. Mangaka takes that, and then decides the gimmick they want to go with, in this case, Gangs. Starting off, the story has no proper structure. It tries to not explain things to make it look more mature and cool, but they are lacking in the mystery aspect. It's not intriguing enough. Also to be realistic, the characters themselves need to question these things that are being left out. Just by making things relate and connect to each other as they happen, that doesn't mean your characters are justified to do the things they do. For example, why doesn't he start with trying to talk to Hinata? I know that it wouldn't necessarily change anything *without giving spoilers*, but they have to do that in order to get to that conclusion. Don't just tell me it won't work without trying. If she loved him that much, why wouldn't she at least believe what he's saying. you can show the implications of that timeline change and then move on with the story. Skipping reasoning and justifying it as it won't work, which we now know why, makes no sense for the characters themselves. How do the characters know! They haven't even tried it! It's like you are skipping some timeloops just to move the story. It frustrates me when watching this anime by the lack of things the MC does. He literally is crying that he couldn't do nothing while things are happening right infront of him. DO SOMETHING! Then the shounen trope of "I inspire people" just comes out of nowhere. It's not like the other people have seen his struggle. He is not Tanjiro or Deku. Just by making him cry you can't justify people caring. That's not how that works! Also, start working out you lil brat. He takes no efforts to actually do things, just ends up in situations and then cries about it and expects people to help, then without any reason has the strength to pull things off like all the shounen people like to shit on. Secondly, when things change, Naoto still remembers the old timeline. Do they explain how that is practically possible in the Manga? Was he in a coma too? How does his thinking not get affected by the timeline change? His thoughts weren't frozen when MC goes back. Why does he not know what his sister is doing? ***Anime SPOILERS*** When he saves Hinata the first time and wakes up in the future (before the whole car date and Hanma stuff), on the way to her apartment, Naoto is like, apparently she's a teacher now. What? So you did not live this life? How? Where were you that your thoughts did not get affected? You still remembering the old timeline would maybe make sense, but not knowing anything about the timeline you grow up in? And then Takemichi has flashes of things that didn't happen in his timeline. That makes no sense at all. Lastly, I disagree on the True brotherhood. Every second this kid gets treated like he's part of their inner circle. And then every time he says anything Mikey and Draken threaten to kill him like he's nothing. Also. he wasn't in the gang? If you treated him that nicely, he was part of your gang. You don't have to SAY it. That's true brotherhood. Not all of them worshipping Mikey who is strong for no reason. Who takes a pipe to his head 50 times but kills people by punching. All of that, imo, was stupid. It was just to setup Tetta, Baji and Kazutora. Every episode so far, I feel, like things are happening just for the sake of convenience. The show should defend its own logic, not have the fans try to make sense of why things happened by assuming facts. I think it's a good show for people below 20, no offence. It's pretty much the same old story of going back in time to do trial and error to fix the future. And it's kind of like them trying to look mature by adding fighting and **blood**, but they really are not mature. So much unnecessary violence. And these are Middle Schoolers? At least make them be High schoolers! It is clearly targeted at Middle schoolers, but then promoting all of this Gang stuff. Nah. Anyway, dunno if you would read all of this, lol. If you did, let me know if you agree to any of those points or if you can justify them. Anyone else who read this far, ayy dude, have a nice one! Here's a cookie! 🍪
@hayleyrenshaw7605
@hayleyrenshaw7605 3 жыл бұрын
@@SagarGathoo Thank you so much for the reply (and the cookie lol)! I think you brought up a lot of valid points, but I would like to justify a few things, if that’s alright! Firstly, I can’t agree with your opinion that the show is solely suited for viewers under the age of 20 because I, myself, (along with my brother who is a big fan of the series) am over 20 😅 Secondly, Naoto’s ability to remember his past timelines and Takemichi’s power is actually explained in the manga! However, I personally find the explanation to be a bit confusing. To kind of sum it up, Naoto and Takemichi are directly linked towards one another. Since Takemichi’s power is linked to a handshake with Naoto, Naoto retains all of his memories even after a timeline is altered. Also, I think your hatred towards the MC is COMPLETELY justified! A lot of fans actually feel the same way you do, in that, Takemichi seems pretty useless when compared to a lot of other characters. The reason for this is that he isn’t accustomed to fighting, despite his past as a gang member. **Anime spoilers!!!** In his first timeline we see that his personal gang were made into slaves by a much larger gang. They used them and beat them practically every day which eventually caused Takemichi to run away and lead a normal life far from crime. From then on running away was all he found himself doing. I think the show does a good job at making him more realistic than most MCs. He isn’t constantly getting power boosts and doesn’t necessarily want to fight other people. When things get really tough for him, he’s quick to give up. Even though this is super frustrating at times, I think it is interesting to see an MC who is written this way. And just to be clear, I don’t mean to say that any MC who isn’t written this way is bad at all! I just like the small bits of realism that the author gave to his character! Thankfully, Takemichi has TONS of development as well. The show simply hasn’t gotten to the point where we can see all of it. I found myself hating Takemichi near the beginning of the series but, personally, I have grown to love him. Next, as for the brotherhood statement, I will once again disagree with you. Though Mikey and Draken can definitely be cold to Takemichi at points in the story, I think that they genuinely do care about him a lot, and grow to care more about him as the series progresses. I think their tough love is a direct result of their difficult upbringings, but I do not think it makes their feelings any less genuine. Not only this, but I find the brotherhood amongst other characters to be very well written as well. Examples of this would be Draken and Mikey’s relationship with one another, Akkun and Takemichi’s relationship, etc. Also, to explain the decision with Hinata, I can definitely see where you’re coming from. I’m going to go ahead and actually agree with you on this one. I think the reason not to tell Hinata of Takemichi’s powers was honestly just a way to move the plot in the direction that the author wanted it to go. However, seeing as Naoto is the only other person Takemichi knows who is closest to Hinata, it at least makes sense for him to go along with what he said. Takemichi trusts Naoto and his opinions because Naoto wants to save Hinata just as badly as he does. And finally, to speak on the writing and intrigue of the series itself, I personally find it to be phenomenal. This show, without a doubt, has similar components to Erased, but once again, they are still two completely separate stories with different characters, settings, and plot twists. Despite them following a similar plot line, I don’t think it’s fair to water down Tokyo Revengers to just Erased with gangs. There’s a lot more to the series itself and while it may follow a similar plot line to Erased, I still find myself liking both shows for separate reasons and not because they are similar to one another. Also, this is my own personal opinion, but I have found the entire show to be extremely intriguing so far. I found it easy to get invested into the characters and their individual stories as well as each trial Takemichi and his friends had to overcome in order to point the future in a better direction. To add to this, the series seems to get better and better with each episode. There is a huge arc coming up that I have already seen in the manga and I am very excited to see it animated. All in all, I think my liking of the show just comes down to a difference in opinion. Even though I find the show to be entertaining, I do understand that it just won’t click with some people, and that’s totally fine! But I do hope some of the things I said cleared up a bit of your confusion! Also if I missed anything, or if this message is hard to read, please let me know! It is late in the day so my brain isn’t really working rn lol 😂

@@hayleyrenshaw7605 Hahaha, Thanks for typing that much even if it was late in the day! 😆 Yeah you are right that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm not trying to say you're wrong in liking the show, I genuinely wanted to like it too, I thought it had potential. I'll be honest man, to me, the writing just feels sloppy and very convenient. This feels rude to say considering you said you like the story, but just hear me out, okay? Things constantly keep happening where not just Takemichi, everyone behaves pretty stupidly. You can justify that to make sense with the story, but you shouldn't have to, that's what I'm saying. It doesn't feel natural to me. It could have been so much better, but the writer just lacks the vision to make that happen I suppose. Maybe the manga is better, but it feels like an okay anime that I would forget about in 1-2 years. 86 from last season, with all it's faults, was way more memorable than this. Not to brag or anything, just as a side note, I've been watching anime and reading Manga for about 2 decades at this point (Don't call me old! Lol). I've absolutely seen this formula multiple times and it just is done in such a way to make itself look more than it is. To put it in like Hollywood terms, I was expecting this to be a Christopher Nolan story, it ended up being a Michael Bay one. You enjoy the ride for what it is, don't question too many things. I just get triggered if people start comparing this to like Stein's Gate or Re Zero and say that the time travel in that was less explained than it is in this. NO, just no! To those people I would just say come talk to me in 10 years, you need to grow up more. And technically, Re Zero is not about time travel anyway. It's about Mental Health more than Time travel I would argue. Btw, I appreciate you trying to explain the story, and to half of those I have a similar reaction. I am not saying it's unacceptable, I am saying the writing and pacing could have been better. I am giving it a pass because it is a shounen. But I shouldn't have to do that!! And, I don't want Takemichi to be an INFJ and copy Midoriya or Tanjiro. But that's what it feels like the writer was going for without trying to make it obvious 😅 Also, I'm not really confused about the story. My issue is that it feels very predictable and because of that, boring. I can easily predict where it's going to go and then it doesn't even do half of the things I thought of while watching the show. The writer is just taking the path of least resistance to get to where he wants to take the story and create big battle arcs. Okay for shounen sales. Not okay for a good story. Everything just feels so forced and unnecessary to me. Idk man. I wanted this to be good, but it constantly keeps letting me down. But I guess like I said, you can't expect Inception levels of writing from a Transformers movie. And I'm not saying it's an Erased clone, Erased is not the flag bearer for time travel anime. But that's how every mangaka starts a new project. That's just how reality is sadly. To explain this, Log Horizon, for example, was compared to SAO when it came out, just because they both were set in an MMORPG. Doesn't mean the author stole it or they don't have their own unique identities. It's just a way of explaining it to people who have seen one or the other. That Log Horizon is kinda like SAO with more RPG elements. Or that SAO is like Log Horizon with a more Romance or Harem based story. That's not all the differences, but most anime in the industry can easily be categorized in that way. That's essentially what the sales pitch is based on. "X" has good sales, make our product similar to "X" but different enough to make it appear as new as possible, is what every editor tells every mangaka. It's sad, but that's how it is. For example, we will get 10 new VTuber mangas after "My Dad is the Queen of VTubers" get more popular! Those new mangas might then later on turn the story to be a bit more unique, , they might even be better than the older one, but at first to make an impact, and see if it sticks, they start off by copying an existing hit series. I liked JJK, but it is quite literally copying every hit shounen in the past 10 years and using concepts from them to setup the story. All the kids these days just don't know the source material to recognise where it copied this stuff from. They put in pop culture references and intentionally do things that would be opposite of what you expected. Gives it more shock value and people who haven't seen all this already are blown away by it. And they would burn people at the stake who would say anything bad about their precious new love. But even after all of that, I still liked JJK because it at least felt justified in its attempts, it at least felt FRESH. Tokyo Revengers takes itself too seriously, imo. It's absolutely okay if you like it. I don't want you to hate it or anything. I just wish it tried to be better. But again, expecting Michael Bay to direct Interstellar is not going to work. He'll just put in more explosions and fighting cars. Also, I don't mean to say this rudely, but I feel like you are at where I was 10 years ago. Back then I would have loved this probably. So I think you'll get there one day. Maybe then you might get why I didn't like this as much. I am caught up on the anime till last week's episode. Still frustrating me every episode with the missed opportunities and half assed behaviour by Takemichi. I am still not dropping it because I wanted it to be better. I guess it's better to be a place where you are in life than where I am. I am just sad this show sucks to watch. At least you can enjoy it! Are we the baddies? Lol. Anyway, hope you have a nice one! And I'm glad we could discuss this in a more civil manner than most internet interactions! In conclusion, TL;DR I would respectfully like to agree to disagree! P.S. I don't think Carson and Lindsay are going to like this that much based on how I've seen them react, so far.
