I used to remember back in 2018 there's a floor in one of the Yamada Denki in Ikebukuro that's dedicated only to Gunpla, I think it was 2 blocks away north from that Yamada Labi1 building. Too bad it's gone after visiting the same building last year but it's great to see that Lab1 is taking its place for all the Gunpla needs

It's worth explaining that this is just one of the locations of an electronics store called Yamada Denki. (Yamada Denki is a chain with locations all over Japan, even the countryside, whereas Yodobashi Camera is only in the big cities.) Any Yamada Denki location will have more or less the same stock, just maybe with less floorspace.

Wish I'd known of this place when I visited Japan last year. I'd spent 4-5 days visiting many different stores across multiple cities, so when I finally visited the Gundam Base it was a pretty big letdown. Definitely recommend people just skipping it in general and going to other stores unless you're specifically wanting to go to the Gundam Base for its exclusives or the displays. Great video, and I'll keep this place in mind when I next visit.

Yassss! This place was super awesome! Stumbled upon it accidentally and was probably one of the coolest shops I’ve visited in my 2 weeks there. They had stuff on sale and I got an HG Michaelis and Gunpla Kun for dirt cheap!

Good to know! I thought you were going to mention the other Yamada Denki which is a few blocks north. They had some custom kits displayed around the floor, and also good stock at good prices. However last time I was there in 2017, so it might be quite different now

Ah Yamada Denki Lab1. A few of these outlets around Japan for all rounder household needs. Visited one of them in Osaka but not as filled up as this outlet in Tokyo.

I highly recommend Labi (Yamada Denki) and IOIO Yodobashi. And you can apply for point card that you can use on your purchase. 5 years ago I bought 36 MG Gundam Kits there. Now I'm at Hiroshima Edion is my go to store here.

I wish they have more metal build at the Tamashi section, I only saw Metal Robot Sprits. The Sazabi you liked is 1/60 scale. Check out the 1/48 scale Sazabi by TS studio (they 3D print the YJL Sazabi resin).

V-color is the premiere Japanese sofubi paint. It's never available on most hobby sites, possibly because of its aggressive chemical profile. Thankfully in the states we now have Wonder Goblin paints.

I'm actually surprised to see the Pokemon kits be written in Japanese. Over here, they're in English and French. I guess Bandai noticed different markets in the world and made the boxes have writing according to their locations of sale.

Yamada Denki is fine, a huge retailer, but Gundam Base is always gonna have older models, rereleases ahead of other places and exclusive variations that only they sell. Is not comparable cause basically GB is owned by Bandai and that's it.

I never understand why people say that Gundam base is always bare or hard to get in. I go to Tokyo 3 times a year and every visit to Odaiba they always have a full range. You queue outside for about 5 minutes while they filter people in and out to stop it being congested. But I also like go to this store and others. Can spend a whole day just wandering about Nakano broadway finding rare and old kits.

Wow, you really don't like Gundam Base do you? Did it kick your puppy? I do agree that for normal kits, the Gundam Base Tokyo can be a bit bare, but if you are traveling to Japan for Gunpla you owe it to yourself to go to Gundam Base for the exclusive kits.

Gundam Base Tokyo sucks. It's a definite suffering from success situation. When I went in March the shelves were BARE. Only exclusives instock were the Zeta Zaku Cannon and AGE-1 Clear set. Gundam Base Fukuoka, SIde-F, and Gundam Base Kyoko were a lot better
