This is what every OP-1 owner hopes to achieve in terms of capability, regardless of music style or genre. You have clearly mastered the instrument. Perhaps a "how to do this" video would be possible? Very well done, indeed!

I looked and listened to this song a few times now and I just realised that you use only 3 loops of 2 measures all the way long ? Playing with tape, effects and live synth and it sounds good. The kind of mix we want to learn from ! Like it ;)

It has a lot of features, cool innovations, made with military grade buttons, durable. I would say it's worth it because it's all you need in one little tight package.
@ForcedRejection
@ForcedRejection 9 жыл бұрын
But its not impressive. It sounds like a casio keyboard. For example what mastering effects are available? is tape saturation one of them? This is a live toy, its great for a toy, it really is. But its worth about $45 and is a live Toy, keyword. Groovebox hardware has extreme limitations. Industry standard DAWs suck, every single DAW is just terrible except for FL Studio which is extremely logical, where all other DAWs are a special kind of stupid. Really, all there is, is 2 things. 1) doing it the old way where you have a room full of analog and digital hardware, or, 2) FL Studio with at least 50 VSTs that didnt come with it. Thats about it. Everything else is so terrible.
@henlolimbo5088
@henlolimbo5088 9 жыл бұрын
To each their own. Everything has it's limitations, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sure FL studio is great in the hands of someone who knows how to use it, but that goes for every other DAW, or piece of hardware too.
@ForcedRejection
@ForcedRejection 9 жыл бұрын
Yeah your right about that Squish but its also right that other DAWs can make their interface more logical, not change much at all, stay the way they are but with more logical changes. Like why NOT have one option where recording knob movements applies to the whole song instead of just patterns, why not have a stereo separation knob next to the pan knob for every channel? Why not just have a dropdown menu where you change how much each drag of the mouse lengthens or shortens a note and other features of the piano roll, and why not just have a step sequencer for each channel that can be changed to the piano roll if need be, or left the step sequencer and drum machine-like...why not just have VSTs assigned to channels and on those channels you add effects. Why not have a playlist where you can either fill in bars to designate when a pattern plays OR use the multitrack way, instead of just be stuck with multitrack. Heres a really good one -- why not just have graphs you can pull up and down to affect pan, cutoff, reso, and other parameters? The other ones are just crazy. And many of them are ugly, they look like windows 3.1 in a way, sort of partially .
@henlolimbo5088
@henlolimbo5088 9 жыл бұрын
TARPP ORG You have a lot of good ideas, if you had the know-how you should look into programming a daw that would have all these capabilities. Have you tried using a workstation? I'm pretty sure you can assign some specific parameter changes on knobs, I've seen it done in logic pro.

el op1 es una maquina increible!! y este sujeto la sabe usar a un nivel bastante avanzado. o sea q si estas dispuesto a invertir tanto dinero en este op1, q es re caro!! pero si! vale cada centavo. Aqui en Argentina se hace damn hard to get one op1.

Ever see any live DAW and comp use? The price reflects the fact that you can put it in a backpack and have a complete music studio with you. Nothing is comparable as a standalone. The price is cheap among Analog equipment. Look at a Korg MS-20, or a moog phatty. Then realize you still need sequencers, drums, effects, etc. The OP-1 does all that!

I think it's a nifty device. it's true the price point is high in relation to maschine and electribe. I used to program on a boss dr-660. I think many of the products and services marketed towards musicians anymore, gotta make up a larger market share, in comparison to album sales, then it ever has been before. in reality, everyone wants something cool, that they can do everything with, is portable, and doesn't have the same sounds everyone else is using. or the ol, analog vs digital argument. in the end, finding what setup is best for workflow, and or live performance is what is important. nice job. :-)
@joshk2181

would you reccomend the maschine or electribe over this?
@nicholasheltzel7439
@nicholasheltzel7439 7 жыл бұрын
Josh K Neither. Both machine & electribe are great, but they are both bulky in comparison. Plus the OP-1 has a radio sampler. As in all products, if you aren't loading your own samples, your going to be stuck using the same kits and expansion packs. The op-1 is cooler in my opinion, because I can sample radio static, and then tweak it till it sounds like an 808.

Right up there with certain Total Science tracks, if ya ask me. "Radio ready", but please take that as a compliment, meaning it sounds very finished and polished. Simply excellent. I pick out different things every listen. Unrelated: If H.S.' finances are back on track, perhaps I can persuade HeavySystems to pick up an OP-1 again. Cuz you two are truly talented and are my absolute favorite unsigned artists. (I'm assuming you guys are both unsigned, but I certainly wouldn't doubt it if you were.)
