Around 20:25 it's unbelievable how a simple 100hz side filtering improve the sound. It's like it glues all together while making everything brighter and crispier. It makes the drums sound so different, more present and coherent. Anyway, I've got a question about pre ringing in general, when using linear phase. Let's say I export a mix, on the master bus I have an eq in maximum Linear phase with a HP filtering with a 18db slope and some bells here and there. Will I hear the artifact caused by pre ringing before the first transient of the entire waveform or before every transient of the song, accordingly with the amplitude of each transient? So, for example, before a kick hit the artifact will be more noticeable than before a less loud transient?

"Elliptic" filters should not be called "elliptic" at all, so the confusion about "elliptical" - the correct English adjectival form of the root noun ("elliptic" would be a noun, if there were such a noun among the standard words in this context) - can be helped. We just rename the silly name of the "elliptic filter" to avoid gratuitous butchering of this ground-meat language most of us speak without knowing how it works. At least we all know something about Tokyo Dawn's plug-ins now, thanks to you and your typically helpful overview.

Great video with so much detail as we are used to when Dan Worrall is explaining it 👍. What I'm wondering is wether Infrasonic really uses something different to calculate the frequency spectrum like Dan Worrall mentioned at 12:50 🤔. Or did he mean "STFT" (short-term Fourier Transform) which is standard FFT + Windowing. The low frequency resolution can be easily done with a higher resolution FFT. For example you would get a spectral line for about every 5Hz @44.1kHz with a resolution of 8192. The manual does also not mention something special here. Could you clarify that?

Only thing prism is missing is as phase correlation meter. Maybe in a later update they will include one as currently you have to use a separate plugin for it whereas span has one built in so less faff.

I've been using most of these since they came out and I love them. One question, in Ableton Live 10 you can only select one sidechain input for a plugin. Does anyone know if it's possible to get more sidechain inputs to show the group/bus inputs as Dan shows in Prism? Around 9:10
@DanWorrall8 ай бұрын
I wasn't using the sidechain inputs, I had a separate instance of Prism on each bus, and selected those as inputs in the first instance. No special routing required.

Doesn't it make more sense to put ultrasonic before each nonlinear process instead of after? Reason being, if you have ultrasonic content and don't want it to intermodulate with the audible band then doesn't it make sense to filter it out before that process occurs? I understand that most signals, prior to being distorted, don't have high levels of ultrasonic frequencies but it seems like one could get the utmost clarity by filtering first anyway.
@bodanerius3 ай бұрын
Question. All those sub frequencies below 10-20 Hz that shows up on every freq graph? Are they the result of graphing errors or do they actually exist and hog up bandwidth + muddy the audio?
