Hello guys!! If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know that I was in Amsterdam again for another business trip 🇳🇱 I am now back in Tokyo (still jetlagged 😅) and so… here’s another video on the Fukuoka and Oita travelling series!! Shout out to Tokyo Foodie Mama for some of the videography! Apologies some clips have low resolution. The data transfer didn’t go so well - something to look out for next time!

Fukuoka is where I will be going for my work next year! I am currently working on my brewmaster certification, and I will be making beer at a friend's brewery there. Always good to learn more about this place. I am getting more excited every day!

Thank you so much for your informative videos. I have a question if you don't mind answering. In your video, the position of the sunshine on the Sakurai Shrine Futamigaura Torii in Itoshima is on the left, and based on a map, it looks like you took the video of it around early afternoon. Is this correct? If so, it doesn't look too busy. Do you think there is a need to be there early morning to beat the crowds?
@TokyoFoodieSarah Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I was there at around 16:30 in April 2022 and it was a normal Monday. When I visited there were definitely not that many people. But now that Japan has opened up to tourists (since Oct 2022) the situation may be a little different.

Great little clip, Sarah! I lived in Fukuoka for many years and know the city in and out, plus surroundings. In Itoshima, in the winter season the oyster tents on the quais are not to be missed. There are also many fine ryokans in Saga and Oita prefectures. Depending on the season, national holidays etc one can make really good deals staying in a traditional ryokan with warm baths, sauna etc. And Saga beef is just as good as Kobe beef. I ived in Nakasu just where you begun your clip, very nice and not at all red district, very safe.

Great video! I like that you didn´t only show the usual things in Fukuoka that every other KZbinr shows. Now I am sure that I want to go to Fukuoka on my next Japan trip. Since I am currently planing my next trip, how many days do recommend to stay in Fukuoka if I want to see all the places from your video? What place or area would you recommend to stay, if I want to be in walking distance to all the Ramen stalls? Can't wait to taste the Unagi Don! One more thing, that might be even more important... On my last trip to Japan in October last year, I bought Omamori at Meiji Jingu. I didn't know that you are supposed to return it to the shrine. Now I am wondering if I need to return it to Meiji Jingu where I bought it, or if I can return it to any shrine. If there is one thing that I would like to avoid, it is more bad luck! ;)

Thank you for your comment! I’d say at least half a day each for Itoshima and Yanagawa. And all the others could be squeezed into a day. It depends on how relaxed you want your trip to be, but I’d say 2 - 4 days would be good. I stayed at this place and I highly recommend it! It’s a walking distance to major tourist areas. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3rcZaWmrZtgedE Regarding omamori, it’s best to give it back to the place you got it from. But you can give it back to another shrine (not temple - only ones you got from temple can go back to the temple). I don’t have a video on hiroshima&miyajima yet! 😭 But thanks for the request ☺️

hello! thank you so much for the clear and informative Fukuoka videos ❤ really love your positive and bubbly attitude hehe. I am planning to go fukuoka and would like to know if it is necessary to rent a car to go around places 😢 appreciate any tips and advice regarding transportation around the area!!
@TokyoFoodieSarah Жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for the comment!! If you want to go to Itoshima or Yanagawa I recommend you rent a car. However public transport (mainly trains) are good in the city so if you are staying around the city you won’t need to rent a car. Dazaifu is a bit far from the city but you can easily take public transport there 👍 Hope this helps!

I watched several videos about Fukuoka recently, none have mentioned about Nagasaki city. Is it worth visiting Nagasaki when in Fukuoka?
@TokyoFoodieSarah Жыл бұрын
That’s probably because Fukuoka and Nagasaki are different prefectures! If I’m going to Nagasaki I’d make a separate video on a separate trip. Fukuoka to Nagasaki is about 1.5h on the train or 3.5h by car. It depends on how long you are in Fukuoka for and what you would like to do in Nagasaki, but I would say spend at least 2 days in Nagasaki to get the most out of it.
@mikaellarsson7932 Жыл бұрын
Fukuoka and Nagasaki are very different, except the usual konbini shops. Fukuoka is flat and nice to walk or bicycle in, while Nagasaki is extremely hilly. Nagasaki is ofc intressant from a historical point of view, not only the bomb and it is very pretty from far. But, many places close very early and I can honestly say I have not enjoyed my stays there. I would recommend Fukuoka, Hiroshima and Osaka, or countryside in these prefectures. @@TokyoFoodieSarah

I don't know affordable car rental specifically in Fukuoka, but the major rent-a-car places are Nippon Rent-a-car, Orix Rent-a-car, Times Car Rental, Toyota Rent-a-car and Nissan Rent-a-car.
