if i had to guess, that wooden box with the turn table (or lazy susan for us north americans sometimes term it as) is probably for bonsai trees to turn periodically so it gets even sunlight distribution on the tree's different sides.

One thing that really strikes me is just how impeccably clean and organized it all is for the sheer size of the place and variety of what they have. A typical thrift store only a fraction of the size here in the west always has that feeling of a bomb having gone off in it by comparison.

Another great Tokyo Lens Video. I've always loved thrift shops, or as we call them here in the UK 2nd hand shops/charity shops. That excitement of never knowing what treasures you might find. When I last visited Japan I had a friend that took me to some large and I mean LARGE Bookoff Super Bazaars and other recycle shops in Chiba but this one in your video is like the cave of wonders from Aladdin. I'll definitely be spending a day there in the future. Thanks for ruining my bank balance Norm! /j ;D

Always loved the second hand stores in Japan. Got me so many Manga, games and merch back in the day during my couple months in Japan and been browsing there every week. Guess having had multiple Book Off locations right by the stations on my daily commute did not help much in not finding myself browsing for too long.

Seeing this huge thrift store makes me kinda sad that my local thrift store, and other retails stores are not as organize. To answer your question, yes you do need a typewriter lol. Japan actually made some amazing models of typewriter that hold up well even today. Note to self...when I finally visit Japan, bring a suitcase full of Pyrex/Fire-King dishes (in my part of the US, it's not uncommon to walk past a shelf of them at the local Goodwill for $1.99-$4.99 each). I'm one of those that would normally take 15-20 minutes to get through a thrift store, but I see myself spending more like 6-8 hours in a place that size. Truly colossal selection...I'd probably spend most of a vacation budget in there, mostly on video games and other random electronics. I'm absolutely floored that they'd have liquor for sale there, just sitting in a case like a collectible figurine, but I understand it.

I want to go retro game shopping in Japan soooo bad. It just seems like such a blast. Their selections are so massive and the prices for games there are generally much more reasonable compared to most western countries.
