Pro tip for buyers and sellers: When researching what something is worth, always look at sold listings. You want to know how much people are paying for it, not how much people ask for it.

Do you guys ever feel bad about buy anything that's worth money and in good condition to resell for a profit when people that actually might need or just want to get something nice that they wouldn't be able to afford otherwise miss out. Like you take from the lows level of Society and resell helping shrink the middle class. But I guess it is fun to have shopping be your job.

@@smoke24-7 I get what you're saying and understand. I'm retired and on a tight budget. I don't feel bad because this is my business. It's like buying the last loaf of bread that's on sale. Someone will do it if I don't. Trust me...scoring big time on these online stores does not happen all that often. I spend a lot of time shopping, listing, mailing, and then waiting 30 days to make sure the seller doesn't return the item. They may even keep it and sell it somewhere else and make even more money. It's not as easy as these pros are telling you. They have accepted the fact that it's their job and a job requires work and investing your own money. Retail would be dead if you could not make a profit on your sales. And....if it is your job, you have to pay taxes on what you make. There is a lot here that isn't shown. You have a good heart, but we each have different needs and experiences. Good luck with what you are doing to make a living!

@@swissuz no it's like buying all of the sale items and reselling them at a higher price or buying every peach that's not bruised and reselling them at a higher price. I've seen a guy find a good pair of kid shoes and was so happy he got 65$ when the shoes only cost 10$. I've sold computer, cards and other things I understand reselling. But kids shoes not to mention the guys that fill up the back of their truck with as much descent furniture as they can. I think yardsales should be any goes but at least kid shoes from savers and goodwill should be taboo. That's just my opinion. I grow up as one of 4 raise my a single mom. I got some of my best and most clothes and toys form savers growing up. A good used pair of kid shoes is hard to come by. So yeah I just think needed items shouldn't profited on, like shoes and a good jacket. Not fancy jackets, not designed to keep warm but to be fashionable. Fashion isn't a fundamental need

@@Crazykid23188 you are kinda stupid. Of course you are free to be a piece of shit. I never said it should be illegal but before you go on a other dumb rant about freedom maybe remember there is a reason why there are laws against buying full packs of beer and selling them by the half box. Or maybe the fact mattress stores can't sell mattresses with out a tag. Get over yourself. Its messed up to buy something some else might need just to try and make a profit off of. You sound like someone who would defend slavery.

I haven't shopped at GW for years...they'll have some chachadee things priced at 7.99 that is not only butt ugly and but chipped or cracked. The final straw was when I went to donate two bags of items to Goodwill...the guy taking the donations felt the bags I handed him and asked me why I didn't separate the soft items from the hard ones. Here’s a great tip for everyone: For years I have always packed large heavy duty Tupperware containers, like bread keepers, cookie boxes. I fill them with clothes etc going away and if I buy glass items when I travel I pack them in the Tupperware with small clothing items to cushion them. I have never had anything broken using this method and it doesn’t take up much space. Sometimes they even fit in the bottom of the carryon.

I love sewing so I buy lots of sheets, quilt covers and pillowcases for the fabric. I also buy men’s shirts for the fabric but only if they’re cheap. In my country, thrift stores are getting crazy expensive which is ridiculous. But I will buy items made from “ugly” fabric because when it’s included in a larger piece, it can be pretty. I also buy beaded necklaces if they’re cheap to pull apart and add embellishments to whatever I’m sewing. My next things to buy will be denim jeans. There’s so much you can make from that fabric. My goal within the next two years is to make all my own clothes from thrifted fabric so I never have to buy anything new again

My mom passed away in 2020. Out of the blue, I began thinking of her and tearing up. When a few seconds later, I got chills!! You zoomed into a blue-green glass bowl that my mom had in our living room throughout the 1970s!! I hadn't seen this bowl since then!! I just turned 71, a retired teacher and started selling on eBay in April. Watching resellers like Texas Gal Treasures will help. eBay isn’t the most intuitive site but the Cha Ching King has great tutorial videos on navigating eBay. I just stumbled into selling and I like it. My advice for what it’s worth, start with what you know. Maybe items in your house. I also sell smaller items, easier to pack and the buyer isn’t as stunned by the postage. I also try to keep all in one larger closet. Mine is a side hustle that’s fun and BTW paid for half our trip to Africa. When I realized reselling was going to help with our travel dreams I was all in. I am very sorry for your loss and the pain of losing your son. Reselling can be a great distraction. It gets you out sourcing, meeting people and then when you’re home all of the details of selling. Best of luck.🙏🏻

Thrift stores are getting wise to this. Was in a Goodwill today in Asheville NC. Found a Limoges France soup tureen but they had 38.00 on it. They did their homework. Yes...it would be more at an antique store, but 38.00 is a little much for Goodwill.

Exactly. It's sometimes not even worth shopping our Goodwill or Salvation Army in my town. They know people are reselling so they've been looking items up and charging way more. Great video! And a super yes on glass paperweights, especially if they are signed. But do check for scuffs and chips. Also check that they are symmetrical -- sometimes they are ground down to remove chips and scratches and that makes them shaped weirdly. The only thing I saw that may have been worth money was just to the right of the Geek Tikis were a pair of pressed clear glass double candelabras. Hard to tell in the video, but they can be worth at least $50 for the pair, and sometimes more depending on the design. They are from the 1930s.

They have those compression bags, and all you do is put your clothes or soft things in them. Roll it up to get the air out. Just like those vacuum storage bags. Maybe do that with your clothes so you have more room for thrifts. I wonder if that would work for travel thrifting? Or if you already tried it. Great video thank you. I'm glad I found you through my youtube recommendations.

Great video! I would never have thought to look at things like those glass paperweights and mugs. The tiki mugs made me laugh! The strangest thing I ever picked up that sold really well was a tiki style tumbler like you'd get a drink in at a Hawaiian themed restaurant. It was $1 and it ended up selling for $20. Those oddball items can be the just the thing people are looking for. What you could have done instead of packing stuff in a suitcase to take on the plane is to box it up and ship it home. I shipped stuff home from Disney World and it arrived safe and sound.

Nice stores in Colorado. I think I would have gone for some of those breakables and just rolled them up in my clothing, but that’s me. Great find on the stuffed toys, I will be watching for those. Also, in the mug section I glance through for the thick restaurant ware mugs. I found a Yosemite Ahwahnee Hotel restaurant mug and also a Harvey’s Tahoe Wagon Wheel cafe mug that both sold fast for a good profit. Thanks for sharing your expertise with us!

I enjoyed your video. It was exactly what I was looking for.... someone to show me what a Goodwill/Thrift store looks like and how to navigate. I have never been into a thrift store or Goodwill store until last year. I was totally overwhelmed. I have since returned twice and am little by little learning about how it works. It helps to find someone to ask while standing in line (LOL)! So now I've learned of senior day, the meaning of color coding, and a few other things. My inventory in my eBay store comes from my "life treasures" - we downsized to our "vacation" home and brought with us 40+ years of inheritance and personal items - a little of everything. Everyday I open a new box and find new things to list, but I always "longed" for the true "thrifting" experience, and thus the reason for venturing into a Goodwill. I now know that there are other goodwills that look a lot like the one I go to. And now I have a "map" to help navigate the hot spots of a Goodwill. I have subscribed to your channel and now follow you on FB. Thank you for your time and efforts.
