I went solo winter car camping in extreme cold temperatures with my dodge campervan. I always go solo van camping in the woods, but this was the first time car camping in the winter snow with such extreme freezing temperatures. My minivan camper is a no build campervan, but I absolutely love it and continue to look for ways to improve my setup. Camping in the winter is definitely harder for me, but I get out there regardless if its snowing, blizzard or just extremally cold.

I'm a single mom, my 11 yr old daughter and I plan on going winter camping this upcoming Friday, just until Sunday. It's the first time that we'll be alone, usually we go with other family members. So I'm excited but extremely nervous as well. I've been watching you and Girl in the Woods for some tips. Wish us luck 🤞

@@wanderingrenegade771 great advice as long as she has a place to plug that in. is she does have access to electricity, maybe even a battery charger just in case. i was thinking about it being cold enough to kill his car battery and him getting stranded! i would also advice making sure she keeps her cell phone warm enough to keep that battery from being drained by the cold temps. my father would take the battery out of his car and take inside to keep it warm when he went cold weather camping.

A good option as a backup for staying warm is a 12v heated travel blanket, they draw around 50 watts. More generally, if you can get 12v versions of all your appliances, that will avoid inverter losses, thus stretching out your battery capacity more.

As someone that lives in the woods I think there’s nowhere more peaceful than the woods at night. Especially during the winter, if you’ve never experienced it you absolutely should make the effort. Matt you definitely do it in style & comfort. You’re just missing one thing; a dog. Trust me brother, get you a four legged friend & you’ll be amazing at how much they add to outdoor life. Plus they make excellent sleep partners when camping in the cold.

Separating out the specific parts and tools for each of the seven step assembly process steps was brilliant on the part of the manufacturer. For the price, I am impressed at how sturdy this kzbin.infoUgkxvObaTzoHoHQLL4lHbJQmExHqsrZQm-f7 unit is and it does go together easily. Well, I was puzzled at first at Step 5 and maybe the instructions should mention that rail #62 needs to be tilted upwards a little to get the rail to fit into the main part #44. I like it that the rower can be stored vertically in a really small amount of space, but be forewarned that this rower is top heavy and for safety you'll need at least two bungee cords to keep the unit upright, attaching them to something; in my case to a third garage door. I have had this unit only a short time, and I will post an update once I've had it for a year. As for working your legs, I have to admit that I'm mainly rowing for upper body strength and I use other forms of exercise for leg strength (like walking fast, biking, or using a trampoline. But if you pull as far forward as possible, then you can give preference to your legs for the first 4 feet or so of travel. I also admit to not taking the two electronic connectors apart at Step 7. I simply inserted the two batteries while the other parts remained connected. By the way, there is plenty of resistance here, even in the lowest resistance settings. Kudos to Sunny Health & Fitness !

You know what you should have done in that situation. Finding a nice sized rock and putting it in the fire until you're ready to go back into the van, then bringing the rock into the van with you to let it radiate the heat off it. Works well with multiple rocks.

Hi Matt, nice vlog and finding that firepit was a nice bedtime ending to a day. Lucky you on having an electrical hook-up the worked. If you don't mind me throwing out some suggestions, add to your items and extension cord with the higher amp capacity and while running the heater, charge the solar generator at the same time...just in case you need the gen later on. I run a 400w tiny heater off my Jackery 1000 in my Prius and it keeps things at 65f and I wake with 58% charge left. I also changed from a butane stove to an induction stove top. However I keep the stove for emergencies. I caught myself going "I have that" when you used something on camera. Stay well and enjoy life.

Just to say - there are 200-300 watt personal heaters that you could use with your power station. The heater you tried to use is 1000 plus watts. A smaller wattage heater would give you some heat when the power is off at closed campsites. I’d suggest heating the car up with the motor and then maintaining it with a small 200 watt heater.
@TolbersCamping
@TolbersCamping Жыл бұрын
I think this heater on low setting is around that, but it would have been freezing in the van at those watts. On a not so cold day low setting would probably be ok, but when it’s -21F and even colder with the wind chill it’s just not enough. I do have a bigger power station coming so this is getting more possible 😁

I love how amazed you are with the kettle. Such a normal thing in the UK. They have some that can boil a large mug of water in 45 seconds. Not sure how fast it would be if your running 120 volts though.

Awesome as always. I have that same heater and it works like a 💎 gem. I love all the colors of the lights also. I think my heater cost around 40 or 50 bucks though 🤔 I bought it at home depot and it was the very beginning of the 🥶 cold weather season so prices were probably up, ugh. I really like that coffee pot it looked nice and works great, pretty cool. Thank you for sharing your awesome adventure and for all the hard work and time you put into your videos. KEEP ADVENTURING GOD BLESS YOU 🤗HUGS🤗

Thanks so much and yeah I think the price has went up to $40 dollar now, I bought it early last winter when it was only $30. I love how much heat it puts off for being so small and the lights make it that much better. Thanks for watching and God bless!

Super glad you posted this! Have been looking at induction stoves and it seems like you hit the best of both worlds with this one! Really appreciate the links as well :-). Are you liking the Vanpowers power station better than the others you've featured? I am about to invest in a bigger one than the small 300w Jackery I have now. Would love to hear your opinion. Thank you and Good bless you and your family 🙏🙏🙏

So far I really like this induction stove and it has good reviews on Amazon. The van powers power station I have is by far my favorite out of all the power stations I’ve had. Partially because it is the largest I’ve had, but also it has 6 AC plugs and most efficient inverter I’ve used. Only reason I’ll upgrade is if a company sends me a larger power station, because my ultimate goals is to run everything including ac off of it this summer.

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24 15)

I'm in Michigan and work and sleep.out of my van. It's a bare bones because I use it for freight hauling. I keep a low temp sleeping bag, like you, but also keep winter socks and clothes and hot hands body and foot warmers. And I have a 12v heated blanket, and keep a good jump starter stored in case I run my battery dead from the blanket. I keep nice and toasty with those things, when I don't have AC power.
