Tolkien - 1954 Audio excerpt - Homecoming of Beorhtnoth

This audio is an excerpt from his personal recording in 1954: "Homecoming of Beorhtnoth"
HB is Tolkien's short writing (first published in 1953, 18 pages),
inspired by the Old English poem "The Battle of Maldon", which is based on the real historical event in 991 AD.
HB is written in the form of an alliterative poem, but is also a play,
being mainly a dialogue between two characters in the aftermath of the battle.
Tolkien later decided to voice record the whole thing in 1954;
the material was first released in 1992 in cassette tapes.
Christopher Tolkien also reads the Intro and two accompanying essays (both written by JRRT).

02:30 and 03:23 These are his *sound effects*, by using his chair/table for the wooden cart. Throughout the reading, Tolkien makes about a dozen of these sound effects, including owls, footsteps, lowering his voices...etc, and also hums in the end.

Wow, never heard Christopher before. Or I should say knowingly. I have a audio clip of of what I thought was someone else reading JRRT but now suspect was Chris.
