May 24, 1973 - Here Tolkien is seen chatting with a student, at Oxford Sheldonian Theatre to vote for the new Professor of Poetry.
This footage was filmed by some passer-by.
It is very short and perhaps the rarest & little known to the general public.

Who was in the running for Professor of Poetry in 1973? Was the Mr. Jones for whom Tolkien voted John Jones, of Merton College,who became Professor of Poetry in 1978? The successful candidate in 1973 was that (sort of) fellow Inkling, John Wain!
