I have lived in all parts of the big state of Texas and have never seen a house with a basement. We have too much rock here. It wouldn’t be cost effective because you would have to blast through the rock in order to dig a hole big enough to make a basement. The upside to this is that we have beautiful limestone rock which is inexpensive and plentiful that we use to build our houses with from all of the quarries in Texas.

We are building in Travisso on one of the custom lots, using a custom builder, and we are building a 1850 sq foot walkout basement taking advantage of the slope of the lot. We have two Tesla's so will also be building in two chargers which will be in the 3 car garage lol. We plan to add solar plus powerwalls but will add that after a year post build as we'll want to see what the electric bills look like first.

Moving from Fort Worth to Austin for my husbands job. With a $700,000ish budget any cities around Austin that’s you’d recommend that’s very family friendly as we have a 2 year old and a baby on the way! Would be so helpful as we don’t know the area.
