This is actually a really bad die. It may be able to replicate a d4 through to a d20, but it can't replicate a d100. Sure you could just roll it until it rolls below 101, but you could in theory never roll below that. All in all, pretty bad die. A d600 on the other hand...

It can technically replicate a d100. You simply roll it as twice as two d10s.

I think it's just the novelty value that's worth it, and I think that's okay. In a few of the rpgs I play, a not so uncommon goof people play is to bring a dice with a weird number of sides until someone notices. It's a pretty good joke on new players too, most of them don't notice rolling a 22 on a supposed d20 their first session.

Unfortunately, in the generally accepted way, the probability of something happening in an infinite probability space is 0. So nobody ever rolls what they want, but also nobody ever rolls what they don't want. In fact, I'm pretty sure nothing would ever happen again.

I feel like this is ideal if you're playing D&D as a spellcaster of enormous stature - It will really reinforce that your character is both literally gigantic AND a gigantic nerd every time you have to make a check for anything.

God, imagine having to roll like 8d6 for damage. You'd either have to: A) Spend 20 minutes converting and writing down the results Or B) Roll 8 of these behemoths at once... and then write them down too.

It would be pretty quick to do that I think, add up the raw numbers as you roll, and take multiples of 120 as 6's with the remainder looked up on the table. 14+98+93+101+44+75+25+89=539 4x120's with 59 left over which is a 3. 27 points.

@@coast2coast00 I'm sorry, but I don't believe that adding up all the numbers and then dividing them is the same. If you roll it one by one, then you convert each one, and then add them all together, you get a different answer. 14 turns into 1, 98 turns into 5, etc. Using Excel, I got 31 points doing it my way and 27 points doing it your way. We can simplify the example and say we want to roll 2d3, by using 2d6 and dividing by 2. Let's say we rolled the 2d6 and got a 1 and 3. We get a different answer if we convert each roll v.s. if we add them, then convert.

Probably yeah, as far as using a chart goes. But those big dices tend to roll a bit too much since they’re too spherical and it’s not easy to tell at a quick glance what number actually comes up since they’re tiny and not well spaced out. That’s the biggest downfall.

Fun fact, you can actually simulate a dice roll with coins. The math is pretty straightforward for an 8 sided die, but it gets real wonky real quick in terms of fairness.

One of the common dice we used in Necromunda was a "D66" Which was actually a D6 for the 10s, and a D6 for the 1s place. So couldn't roll a 19 for example, but 11-16, 21-26 etc.

You want your dice to be able to stop rolling and to have easily determinable numbers. This thing likely takes a while to stop rolling, and since you NEED a conversion chart for it it's terrible.

The only reason you need to go as high as a d120 is because of the d10. If you want to combine all the others into a single dice, you'd only need a d24.
