The Cowboys really are the weirdest franchise in football when you consider how poorly they have performed rekative to expectations over nearly three decades now. If any other team routinely getting bounced out in the divisional round was the height of their success for nearly thirty years, we wouldn't be talking about them tge way we talk about the Cowboys. We only talk about them because of the brand and because some people in sports media think that their auccess in the 90s somehow proves they're still legitimate contenders. By any objective measure, we should not be talking about the Cowboys nearly as much as we do every season. Until they can actually show they're capable of deep postseason runs, they should be considered choke artists, nothing more.

I think the team should pay him, just not max money. That’s the problem, it’s always a “next man up,” philosophy in paying QB’s. Just because their contract expires doesn’t mean they have to be the highest paid guy. When your contract expires you don’t automatically deserve Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow money. Not all QB’s are great. Some are just pretty dang good and some are alright and owners need to start paying them pretty dang good and alright money.

And that'll more or less be Dak's high water mark; he'll never get decent weapons again because of his own monster cap hit, but a rebuild won't really be possible either. So they'll muddle on through...

The question Brou should ask Nick is do you think Dak is worth $60 million a season? It is alright to sit there and say the Raiders or Panthers or Saints would pay Dak the $60 million, but the question is is Dak worth that money, and the answer is no. You should not pay a great regular season QB anything over $40 million. Anything over that and it goes $45 million for a play off win, $50 million for a championship winning QB and higher for a Superbowl contending QB. Dak has won a play off game so $45 million maybe, but even then he is stretching the friendship.
